Rose Falcone Moore, age 89, passed away peacefully on May 24^th after several years of battling chronic health issues. She was born January 31^st, 1935 in Batavia, New York to Peter and Eugenia Falcone. 

She married Robert Moore and enjoyed a long, happy marriage of 66 years. They had six children together. She was a loving and devoted mother to:  Gina (Aaron) Bresler of Bergen, NY; Patricia Fauth of Batavia, NY: Robert (Sue) Moore of Batavia, NY; William (Kelly) Moore of Batavia, Stephen (Jeannie Tehan) Moore of Batavia, NY and Julie (Ned) Chatt of Spencerport New York.  They had 14 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. 

Rose was the 9^th of 12 children and she was the last living member of her family. She is predeceased by her parents, siblings: Peter Falcone, Mike Falcone, Tony Falcone, Jim Falcone, Sue (Falcone) Jean (Falcone) Warren, Patricia (Falcone) Scheurlein, Anna (Falcone) Freeman, Frank Falcone, Mary Falcone and Dominic Falcone. 

She was first and foremost a dedicated mother always ensuring her children had what they needed growing up. She supported each of them through their different struggles in life giving them guidance and a mother’s love. She was a dedicated grandmother who loved making beautiful meals and delicious cookies. She was a very giving person and was always helping others out when needed. She was known for her strong work ethic, powerful personality and dedication to her family. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Parish. She loved to play Bingo on Friday nights for so many years.  She also enjoyed going for long brisk walks. She loved animals especially her dog Bella, who will no doubt miss her very much.  She was an amazing cook and no one will ever forget her home-made raviolis/sauce, pizza or all the cookies she made for the holidays. 

There will be no prior calling hours. A 9:30AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday June 4, 2024 at Resurrection Parish 303 East Main St. Batavia, NY 14020.  The family will have a brief ceremony at the Grandview Cemetery. Afterwards, friends and family are welcome at St. Mary's church hall for a luncheon.

LeRoy ~ Gasper J. DeFelice, age 88, passed away on May 23, 2024 at the Wyoming County Community Hospital.

     He was born in East Bethany, NY on July 17^th, 1935 to the late Connie Rizzo and Marion DeFelice.   

  Gasper was a dairy farmer for most of his life.  He owned four farms, worked cash crops on his 1000 acres, as well as owning and managing multiple rental properties.

     He collected Farmall tractors, loved Country & Western music and even ran a race car in his younger days.  He loved camping and boating with family and friends, while raising his four kids.  He loved to host great parties for family and friends with lots of food.  He was a devoted Catholic and attended church every Sunday.  His final act of love was being an organ donor.

     Surviving family members include his siblings; Angelo (late Alice) DeFelice of LeRoy, Vincent (Donna) DeFelice of Pavilion, Sister Concetta DeFelice FMDC of Williamsville and Paul (Cathy) DeFelice of Spencerport; his four children, son, Marion DeFelice of Onaway, MI, daughters, Joanne (Greg) Severson of Varysburg, NY and Teresa (Chris) Whaley of Pavilion and estranged son, Michael Anthony (Denae) DeFelice of Batavia; 10 Grandkids, 15 Great-Grandkids, along with many nieces and nephews.

     He was predeceased by his brothers, Joseph and Marion DeFelice Jr.

     Our Dad lived for his children and all his grandchildren. 

     To the world, he was a dad….but to us….You Dad, were our world.  We will miss you, but always remember our family times together.

     We love you and will always miss you!

Carol Ann Scroger, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia following a brief illness.

Born on Friday, July 14th, 1944, in Medina, Carol was the daughter of the late Harold Newman and Norma Hiedman Newman.

She is predeceased by her loving husband, William J. Scroger.

She is survived by her loving children: William J. (Doug Bolt) Scroger of Batavia, Harold M. Scroger of Lackawanna, Timothy M. (Michelle) Scroger of North Tonawanda, Thomas M. Scroger of Avon, Michelle (Willie) Kemp of Batavia, Darrel R. (Kelly Mazur) Scroger of Hamburg, Ronald J. (Maranda Danser) Scroger of Batavia, and Amanda Jean Scroger of West Seneca. She is also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Known for her love of animals, playing Bingo, and enjoying sweet treats and Red Rose Tea, Carol will be remembered for her strong-willed personality and selflessness. She also had a passion for television, especially sci-fi shows.

Elba - Gary D. Boldt, 59 of Elba, passed away on Friday, (May 24, 2024) at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester surrounded by his loving family.

Gary was born January 23, 1965 in Batavia, a son of Eugene Boldt of Elba and the late Eleanor (Kowalik) Boldt.

Gary spent most of his childhood on their family farm. He was a life member and past assistant chief of the Elba Volunteer Fire Department. He started his career at L & L Transmission and spent many years working for the Elba Highway Department before retiring. After retirement, Gary went back to work for Professional Drainage Systems in Elba. Gary loved spending time hunting with his children and working on vehicles in his garage. His children were his pride and joy. He also had a special spot in his heart for his dog Nala and grand dog Fia.

Along with his father, Gary is survived by his wife, Diane (Ayers) Boldt of Elba; daughter, Nicole (Vito Muoio) Boldt of Byron; son, Zachary Boldt of Elba; brothers, Dennis (Linda) Boldt of Medina, and Douglas Boldt of Batavia; sister, Diane (James) Snyder of Elba. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and loving friends also survive.

A Fireman's Memorial service will be held on Friday at 7:30 pm. Waterport - Robert E. VerCruysse, 75, beloved husband of Veda VerCruysse, passed away after a short illness with family by his side on May 22, 2024.

Bob was a Jack of All Trades, dedicating time to GE, Vistakon, Mayer Brothers, and finally Krehers Farm. He could fix anything, thus giving him the name "Bob the Builder" from his grandchildren.

He enjoyed hunting and motorcycles, but most of all, he enjoyed the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Bob was born March 27, 1949, in Medina, New York, to Marilyn (Williams) Smith. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Veda; three children, Tracy (Mike) VerCruysse, Robin (Josh) Jurs, and Robert M. (Angela) VerCruysse; his brother, Louis VerCruysse; sisters, Ruth Leno and Florence Shafer; and his in-laws, Ann London, Jerry and Monica London, and Wende London. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Tyler (Alishia) VerCruysse, Spencer (Ashley) Perry, Damien (Bronson) Perry, Mitchell (Allie) Perry, Dalton (Erika) VerCruysse, Quinton (Michelle) VerCruysse, Joshua Wells, Abigale (Matthew) Wells, Elizabeth (John) Jurs, Savanna Wells, Dominic VerCruysse, Payten (Kiarra) VerCruysse, and Brody VerCruysse; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Bob was predeceased by his mother, Marilyn (Williams) Smith; sister, Sheila (Victor Haynes; in-laws, Charles and Ellen London, Charles J. London, and Sydney Richard London.

Attica - Harold A. Meisner, age 83 of Attica, passed away Monday (May 20, 2024) in the comfort of his home.

Harold was born October 6, 1940 in Attica, a son of the late Alton and Bernice (Wendler) Meisner. In addition to his parents, Harry is predeceased by a brother, William Meisner, brother-in-law, Paul Wood; and sister-in-law, Linda Clark.

Harry is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sharon (Strong) Meisner; children, Brad (Amy) Meisner, Kristy Bowen, Lorie Wawrzyniak, Patty (Steve) Charles and Jimmy Barrett; all of Attica; grandchildren, Kelsey, Kara, Sophia, Amanda, Nick, Katelynn, Sidney, Alex, Dominic and Chelsey; siblings, Margaret Meisner, Joan Wood, Janet (Bernard) Meinweiser; and sister-in-law, Frances Meisner.

Harry proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1961, until his honorable discharge in 1967. During his service he served two tours in Vietnam, and he had the honor of being a Specialized Mechanic on Air Force One during both John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidential terms, stationed out of Pensacola, Florida.

Harry was very proud of the business he brought to the Attica community, Meisner’s Deli. The Deli opened in the 60s, where he spent countless hours working, until his retirement in 2016. In addition to Meisner’s Deli he also spent many years behind the wheel of a truck, from his own trucking business hauling steel around the Northeast United States, to working many years at Carney & Fugle, Corcoran Custom Services, and the Town of Attica.

Harry enjoyed spending time with family and friends, fishing, working at the pizzeria, taking rides on his tractor, farming and watching traffic. Harry will be deeply missed by many.

Linda C. Cowham, age 70, passed away on April 30, 2024 at the Villages of Orleans in Albion where she resided. 

She was born on December 30, 1953 and grew up in Bergen where she went to school. She was an avid reader, gardener and cook for the majority of her life. She also enjoyed drawing architectural plans as a hobby of her dream homes. Linda worked for many years in food service at the Cupola Nursing Home in Brockport, followed by some jobs in advertising. Linda was a Jehovah’s Witness, living her life based on bible principals and the hope and promise of scripture. 

She is predeceased by her father; Richard Cowham and brother, Steven Cowham. 

Linda is survived by her mother; Lillian Cowham; sisters Cathleen (Walter) Crooks and Donna Verhagen, along with several nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. 

Per Linda’s wishes, there will be no Services.

Eunice Lew, 94, formerly of Byron, died on May 19, 2024 in Leroy. 

A lifetime resident of Genesee County, she was born on March 12, 1930 in Batavia, NY, the only child of Ruth (Branton) Bennett and Ward S. Bennett. Mrs. Lew enjoyed dogs, books and restaurants. She traveled throughout the USA, Canada and Europe. 

Mrs. Lew was a retired Registered Nurse having practiced 20 years at St. Jerome Hospital and 20 years at the VA Medical Center in Batavia. She was a life member of the First Presbyterian Church in Batavia, The Gillam Grant Community Center, the Byron Historical Society, Volunteers for Animals and the YMCA. 

Mrs. Lew was a past member of the Town of Batavia Fireman Auxiliary, Shakespeare Club, Tonawanda Touring Club, Women of the Moose, Great Books Club, the Seven Springs Country Club, Tonawanda Valley Kennel Club and the Batavia Society of Artists. She graduated from Corfu High School and the St. Jerome School of Nursing. She attended Canisus College and Genesee Community College. 

She is predeceased by her husbands; Roger Saile, Bernard Sanders and Chester (Lewandoski) Lew. She and Chet shared fifty wonderful years together. 

Surviving is one son; Eric (Janet) Saile of Batavia; a half sister Mary Bennett (Randy) Luplow of TX; three grandchildren Jason (Erin) Saile, Ellen (Gregg) Traver and Sarah (Curt) Saile; great-grandchildren all of Batavia, along with cousins, plus dear friends Laurie, Anita, Frank and Melanie.

Batavia - Barbara Roberts, 68 of Batavia passed away on Friday, May 17, 2024 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia, New York.

She was born Sunday, June 12th, 1955 in Batavia, New York a daughter of the late Donald and Mary (Drake) Holmes.

Surviving are her sisters, Margaret Plunkett and Donna Sigl; step-son Darryl (Regina) Roberts; step-daughter Pam Marsceill; niece Erin Ortiz; and nephews Shaun Plunkett and Michael Sigl.

In death Barbara is reunited with her beloved husband, Ronald Roberts; brother-in-laws, Frank Plunkett and Robert Sigl.

Sandra (Sandy) Shirlene Ray (nee Ball) passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18^th, at Premier Genesee Nursing facility surrounded by family.  Sandy was born June 27^th, 1947 and was a lifelong resident of Batavia.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband Robert (Bob) Ray and a stepdaughter, Sandy Darcy. 

Sandy is survived by her children, Neil (Tracy) Brennan Jr. of Batavia, Gregory (Lisa) Brennan of South Carolina, David (Debbie) Goff of Rochester, Susan (Ben) Vasquez (nee Goff) of Florida, step-daughter Cindy Helker.

Sandy was a loving sister in a large family of her late parents Fred Ball Sr. and Minnie Mildred Ball.

Sandy’s brothers and sisters included the previously deceased Fred Ball Jr., Kerry (Kathy) Ball Sr, Trudy Dawn Ball, Gordon Duane Ball and Vernon Ace (Ellen) Ball.

Sandy is survived by her sister Rita (late Salvatore) Tuttobene of Stafford, NY and Vincent (Nina) Ball of Acworth, GA.

Sandy was especially proud of her grandchildren, Mariah, Paige, Kylee, Matthew, Brittney, Christopher and Marissa and her great grandchildren Kaiden, Kasey, Wesley & River.

“Aunt Sandy” was close to her many nieces and nephews.

Her late husband Bob Ray and Sandy operated the Checkerboard Restaurant for many years on West Main St. in Batavia.

Friends may call on Wednesday from 5 pm to 7 pm at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia where services will immediately follow visitation at 7 pm. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 3 pm at North Byron Cemetery, Byron.

Barbara Jane (Folger) Greene, 86, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024.

Barbara was born on April 11, 1938, the daughter of the late Robert and Lois (Hollenbeck) Folger.

After graduating from Batavia High School in 1956, she went on to Vermont College to earn an Associate's Degree. Upon graduation, she went on to be a medical secretary for Dr. Fox, then supervisor at Genesee Memorial Hospital, retiring from Batavia Ophthalmology in 2011.

Barbara enjoyed reading and knitting, but most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Barbara is survived by her two daughters, Betsy (Thomas) Pettinella and Mary Jo (Roger) Hume. She was "Granny" to her six grandchildren, Matthew (Meghan) Chartraw, Philip (Ali) Pettinella, Adam (Mackenzie) Pettinella, Cady (Ohnet) Jaime-Molina, Jenna (Jacob) Hoffman and Abbey Hume, along with ten great-grandchildren and longtime companion David L. Hayward.

John William Thomas Hendershott (Chicago, Illinois), born in Batavia, New York, passed away on April 28, 2024, at the age of 60, after a lengthy illness.

A graduate of Attica Jr Sr High School, John worked as a Customer Service Technician for Jiffy Lube in several locations. He loved to cook, gardening, and was an avid crossword puzzler. He never met a cat he didn't want to take home for his own. 

He now rests with parents Duane and Jackie Hendershott, sister Jeanne Saracini, Aunt Sandy (Paul) Oberlander, Uncle Lee (Millie) Hendershott, grandparents William and Anne Glor and Laverne and Dorothy Hendershott.

 John is survived by sister Dot (Bill) Dustin, brother Dean Hendershott, Aunt Sheila (John) Henderson along with nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Gilmartin Funeral Home 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. John will be laid to rest in St. Vincent's Cemetery, Attica.

Edward W. Swanson, 87 of Batavia, formerly of Corfu, passed away peacefully on Thursday (May 16, 2024) at the Batavia Veterans Administration Medical Center.

He was born June 13, 1936 in Lancaster, NY, a son of the late Edward J. and Wilhelmina Schmidt Swanson.

Edward was a Veteran of the U.S. AirForce, having served his country from 1955-1958. He was employed by Whiting Door Co. and Akron Rule prior to his retirement.

Survivors include his sisters, Susan Ahalt of Depew, Dorothy (Cortland) Shanks of South Carolina and Maxine Toot of North Carolina. Nephew, William Ahalt, Niece, Pamela Park. Also survived by great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
