Massena: Graveside services, with military honors will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia, for James C. Murphy, who passed away on June 4, 2020 at the Massena Rehabilitation & Nursing Center.

Alberta M. Nowikow

BATAVIA - Alberta M. Nowikow, 62, of Batavia, passed away Tuesday, (July 21, 2020), at her home in Batavia.

Ms. Nowikow was born July 12, 1958, in Buffalo.  She enjoyed watching television, playing bingo and cards, listening to music - especially old school country, and dancing.

 Survivors include her daughters Sarah (Martin) Kowasz of Perry, Wendy Henry, and Minnie Henry both of Batavia; grandchildren, Lily and Riley Kowasz, and Haylee and Matthew Henry; brothers, Russell Bly of Arizona, and Michael (Tina) Bly of Indiana; a sister, Jackie (Jose) Correa of Wyoming.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

In keeping with Alberta's wishes there will be no visitation.  A private memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Robert "Bob" R. Foote

Robert “Bob” R. Foote, 68 of Nunda, passed away on Sunday July 19, 2020 at Rochester General Hospital. Robert was born in Warsaw, July 5, 1952, a son of the late Gerald (Pauline Haines) Foote. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer M. Foote and brothers Charles and Larry Foote.

Robert was a graduate of Perry Central High School and worked at Kittenger Furniture Company. He loved to spend time outdoors and enjoyed camping. One of his favorite times of the year was Fall when he could go deer hunting with his boys.  

He is survived by his children Jonathan R. (Jennifer) Foote of Nunda; Benjamin R. (Rebecca) Foote of Branchport; granddaughter Mae Alice-Marie Foote; sister Bonnie (Cleon) McLeod of Dunn, NC; brother Alan (Cindy) Foote of Perry; along with many nieces an nephews.

Family and friends may call from 11am – 1pm on Monday, July 27, 2020 at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC, 98 North Main Street, Perry, New York 14530. A 1:30pm Graveside Service will be held at Glenwood Cemetery, Perry.

Richard J. Biondolillo

Richard J. Biondolillo, 83 of Perry, passed away on Monday, July 20, 2020 at Buffalo General Hospital. He was born in Perry, on November 14, 1936 to the late Joseph (Anna Scorsone) Biondolillo. He is preceded in death by brothers Robert, James, Joseph, Charles and Frank Biondolillo.

Richard worked at SUNY Geneseo. He was a United States Army Veteran.

Mr. Biondolillo is survived by his son Jason (Maria) Biondolillo of Rochester; brother Roland Biondolillo of Perry; sister-in-law Shirley Biondolillo of Perry; two grandsons Nicholas and Sammy, along with many nieces and nephews.

At Richard’s request, no services will be held. He will be laid to rest in Glenwood Cemetery, Perry.

William A. "Billy" Sheron III

  William A. "Billy" Sheron III, 36, of Buffalo, NY Passed away peacefully on July 20, 2020 at Strong Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. 

Billy was born in Batavia on April 24th, 1984.  He was a graduate of Batavia High School class of 2002 and went on to become a Certified Public Accountant after earning a Bachelor's and Master's degree from the State University of New York College at Oswego. Billy was a compassionate and kind hearted man who loved his family and friends to no end. He was an avid golfer, a valued member of The Genny and enjoyed grilling, fantasy football and the Buffalo Bills. Steaks and chicken wings were his specialty. The Simpsons always kept him laughing and we can’t forget his love for Kendrick and Ophelia.

Billy is survived by his father; William A. (Shari) Sheron Jr. of Batavia; his mother Karen M. Maskell of Batavia and his sister Marissa M. Sheron of Lockport. Along with his parents and sister he is also survived by his maternal grandmother; Barbara J. Maskell of Batavia; his step siblings Andy Strollo, Lacie (Strollo) Snell and Katie (Strollo) Cosimeno all of Batavia, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Billy's absence will be deeply felt by all that were fortunate to know and love him. He will always be in our hearts, thoughts and prayers.

There will be no prior calling hours. Funeral Services will be held privately for the family.

Audrey M. Hall

Indian Falls - Audrey M. Hall, 88, of Indian Falls, passed away Friday, June 26, 2020.

Audrey was born on August 2, 1931, to the late Leland and Emma Green Sliker. She is preceded in death by her husband Allan Hall in 1998 and was the sister of the late Marilyn, Betty Lou, Leland and John.

Audrey worked for Star Markets in Batavia for 26 years. She loved her cats and companions, Bandit and Tigger and was a big fan of Elvis.

Audrey is survived by her children, Stephan (Angela) Hall of Rochester, Jeffrey Hall of Corfu and Brian (Christine) Hall of Corfu. Granddaughters, Nicole Hall (Michael Pepe), Sarah Hall and Rachel Hall (Sean McVay); her sister, Winnie Murray; her aunt, Violet Hoevenaar and her cousins, Patricia (Charles) Herman, David Hoevenaar and Paul Hoevenaar. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 26, 2020, at the Indian Falls United Methodist Church Pavilion, 7908 Alleghany Road, Corfu, NY at 3:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Indian Falls Cemetery. In honor of Audrey, the family requests everyone to please wear pink, as it was her favorite color.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Indian Falls United Methodist Church or to the Indian Falls Fire Department.

Marilyn W. Dills

Marilyn W. Dills age 84 of East Bethany, NY passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, March 20th 2020 at Crossroads House in Batavia. Born November 6th, 1935 in Olean, NY, the daughter of the late Harold L. and Elsie Brinker Weaver.

Marilyn was a 1954 graduate of Pavilion Central School and worked as the bookkeeper for the family farm, Dills Bros. Inc. She was a longtime member of the East Bethany Presbyterian Church and more recently Warsaw's Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church. Marilyn was a terrific homemaker always putting her family first in all she did. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, and socializing with her friends.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband Edwin H. Dills; a son Andrew W. Dills; two brothers Dean Weaver and Dana Weaver. Survivors include three sons, Timothy (Tena) Dills of Clymer, NY; Thomas (Michelle) Dills of East Bethany; Daniel Dills of Wright, WY; sisters, Sonia (Bill) Whaley of Pavilion; Nancy Weaver of Farmington, NY; 8 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn's family would like to thank the volunteers and staff at Crossroads for the excellent care that she received. We also want to thank all of her friends that took the time to visit mom at Crossroads.

A memorial service will be held at 1pm Saturday, August st at the Valley Chapel Free Methodist Church in Warsaw. Burial will follow in the East Bethany Rural Cemetery. Crossroads House has been operating for 22 years, providing no cost service to the residents and their families. They rely entirely on donations and volunteers.

Sterling J. Stroman

Sterling J. Stroman, 55 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 19, 2020 at his home. He was born on March 6, 1965 to the late Caesar Stroman Jr.

Sterling worked for 20 years at GCASA/Atwater in Batavia. He was a huge Denver Broncos fan and loved the Buffalo Sabres too. He enjoyed backyard BBQ’s, sharing his endless amounts of wisdom, attending family sporting events and was everyone’s biggest fan. Sterling enjoyed spending time with his extended family. He adored his children and grandchildren.  

He is survived by his beloved wife Ella (Beach) Stroman of Batavia; children Abigail (Justin Williams) Stroman of Batavia; Ryan Eighmey of Syracuse; Robin Eighmey of Batavia; mother Clara (Fullwood) Stroman of Chili; siblings Caesar Stroman III; Lamont Stroman and Kimberly Stroman; four grandchildren Isiah, Jordan, Josiah and Jaliea; along with several nieces and nephews.

Friends are invited to call on Friday July 24, 2020 from 11:00AM to 1:00PM at The City Church, 210 East Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. A 1:00PM Celebration of Life will immediately follow at the church. He will be laid to rest in Grand View Cemetery.

BRUCE S. TORQUATO

BRUCE S. TORQUATO ~ Age 78, of Batavia, died unexpectedly on Saturday morning July 18, 2020 at his home. He was born on December 24, 1941 in Rochester, NY, a son of the late, Sam and Vera (Corfield) Torquato, also preceded in death by sisters, Leilani Johnson, Arlene Carpenter and brother-in-law, Brian Kapperman.

Bruce was a Vietnam Era Veteran of the US Army, he retired from the Eastman Kodak Co. and was a driver for BlueBird Bus Co. He was a former Sergeant of Arms, Glenn S. Loomis American Legion Post #332, avid Bills, Sabres and Arizona Diamondbacks fan, animal lover, especially his kitty, Atti. Bruce has a deep love for his family.

Surviving is his beloved wife of 35 years, Beverly (Kapperman) Torquato of Batavia; step-daughter, Nikki (Michael Pepe) Hall of Chili, NY; brother-in-law, Bradley (Brenda) Kapperman of Holley; sisters-in-law, Barbara (James) Carpenter of Batavia and Brenda (Richard) Stearns of Canandaigua, NY along with several nieces, nephews, great nieces/nephews and great-great nices/nephews.

Bruce’s family will be present from 2 – 4p.m. on Friday July 24, 2020 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where a Service of Remembrance will begin at 4p.m. Memorials contributions are suggested to the family.

Olga R. Meleca

Batavia - Olga R. Meleca, 79, of Batavia, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2020 at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home with her sons by her side.

Olga was born September 7, 1940 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Joseph and Cristina (Baggetta) Meleca.   

A member of the former St. Anthony's Church and the Ascension Parish in Batavia, Olga loved spending time with her sons and her grandchildren, going for coffee and lunch with the girls, going to church, baking and loved her home.  Olga was a 1958 graduate of Batavia High School.  Prior to Olga's retirement she was employed throughout the area previously at NY Telephone, St. Jerome Hospital, US Gypsum, St. Mary’s Rectory and Cristina’s Restaurant.  You would often see Olga riding her bike through the neighborhood, manicuring her yard or enjoying the sun or by the pool or baking for her beloved grandchildren. 

Survivors include her sons, Charles Brumsted Jr. of Florida, David (Elizabeth) Brumsted of Byron and Robert (Lori) Brumsted of Byron; brothers, C. Benjamin (Jeanne) Meleca of Columbus, OH and Anthony Meleca of Columbus, OH; her grandchildren, Cameron, Catherine, Alexander, David, Bianca and Joseph, nieces, nephews and her loving in-laws, John and Patricia Brumsted and family and several cousins from Batavia, Rochester, Canada and Siderno, Italy.

Olga is predeceased by her brothers, Frank Meleca and Carl Meleca, sister, Josephine Meleca and Frances Meleca Martino and sister-in-law, Terry L. Meleca

There are no prior calling hours.  Olga’s Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday July 23 at 9:30 a.m. at Ascension Parish, 19 Sumner Street, Batavia. 

Due to COVID 19 there will limited seating available during the Mass, only 60 people will be allowed inside the church.  Masks must be worn at all times and seating in every other pew.

Olga will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia.

Jean R. Branton-Platten

STAFFORD - Jean R. Branton-Platten, 95, of Stafford, passed away Sunday, (July 19, 2020), at LeRoy Village Green Nursing Facility.

Mrs. Branton-Platten was born January 4, 1925, in Batavia, a daughter of the late John and Edith (Conrad) (Mensing) Robertson.

Jean graduated from Batavia High School.  She worked for Dr. Lee L. Mulcahy, Sr. as a dental assistant prior to her marriage.  After she married Raymond, she assisted him in his dairy farm operation in Stafford working along with him in the fields until the couple had children but continued with general co-management of the operation.  In 1973 she became the co-owner of Platten's Custom Service which offered farm crop services.  She will be remembered for her pride in her homestead.  She was meticulous in the upkeep of her yard and barns and was extremely proud when recognized in 2001 by The Landmark Society of Genesee County for the loving care she provided to her property.  Jean was also a long time member of the Morganville United Church of Christ and could often be found caring for its facilities.  She was also a lifetime member of the New York State Grange.

She is survived by her children, Rick (Gretchen) Branton of Stafford, Donn (Yvonne) Branton of Stafford, Laurie (Norman) Itjen of Elba, and Terri (Tom) Starowitz of Stafford; a daughter-in-law, Lyndy Branton of Byron.  12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews also survive.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond J. Branton; son, Robin Branton; grandson, Jeffrey VanSlyke; brother, Eddy (late Edith) Robertson; and a sister-in-law, Sibyl (late Richard) Zorn.

There will be no visitation.  A private memorial service will be held at H.E. Turner & Co., Inc. Funeral Home at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Morganville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jean's memory may be made to Morganville Cemetery Association or LaGrange Cemetery Association, c/o Laurie Itjen, PO Box 412, Elba, NY 14058.

Antoinette "Toni" Sidari

Antoinette “Toni” Sidari, 47 of Batavia, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, July 17, 2020.

She was born August 24, 1972, in Batavia, a daughter of Rita Longobardi Sidari of Batavia and the late Frank Sidari.

She was a graduate of Batavia High School and received her Batchelor Degree from SUNY Geneseo. Toni had a love for the outdoors and a compassionate heart toward helping others. She was currently pursuing a coaching career in the Ayurvedic Community, and had acquired many wonderful friends along the way. She enjoyed attending music festivals and was a free spirited individual.

Toni was preceded in death by her father Frank, and grandparents, Nunzio and Eleanor Longobardi and Rocco and Angeline Sidari.

She is survived by her beloved daughter Alaina Bowman of Batavia. Mother Rita Sidari of Batavia. Sister Angela (Tim) Faucett of Batavia and nephew and niece, Brandon and Bailey Faucett. Also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Thursday (July 23rd) from 4-7pm at the J. Patrick William Bly

Patrick William Bly, 85 of Corfu, passed away peacefully Friday (July 17, 2020) at his residence.

He was born March 22, 1935 in Williamsville, NY, a son of the late John and Evelyn Lorenz Bly.

Mr. Bly was a member of Local #41 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, until his retirement. He was instrumental in starting the apprentice program and teaching within the union. He was a Jack of all trades and could fix anything, having built many cars and his own home He also enjoyed boating, camping and fishing with his family.

He was the father of the late John Bly and brother of the late John “Jack” Bly.

Survivors include, his wife, Sandra Booth Bly of Corfu. Children, Patrick Bly Jr. (Beth) of Maryland, Lorraine Bly of Tonawanda, Jackie (Jose) Correa of Wyoming, NY, Michael (Tina) Bly of Indiana, Russell Bly of Arizona and Christian Bly of Rochester. Step-daughter, Sandy Nowikow of Batavia. Also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Justin Ray Burger

South Byron -- Justin Ray Burger passed away July 15, 2020 at age 40. Born in Batavia to Kay and the late Raymond T. Burger, of South Byron, Justin graduated from Byron-Bergen High School, Class of ’98, and was a longtime volunteer firefighter in the South Byron Fire Company.

Justin was a talented and dedicated musician and played in several local bands. We like to think that he is still “Jammin' on the one."

Surviving are his mother, Kay, fiancée, Roberta J. White, his brother, Brandon (Elizabeth) Burger, of Scottsville, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Services will be held privately. A Celebration of Justin’s Life will be held at a later date.

Margaret K. "Maggie" McIntyre

Margaret K. “Maggie” McIntyre, 72 of Batavia, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born on September 12, 1947 to the late John (Gerarda VandeKieft) McIntyre. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert Leiser (2003); brother John “Jack” McIntyre Jr.

Maggie worked for years at United Memorial Medical Center. She was a very strong, absolutely amazing woman, she loved everyone and everyone loved her.  

She is survived by her children Robert P. Leiser II of Oakfield; Scott (Meredith) Leiser of New Mexico; Veronica (Craig) Magliocco of Oakfield; siblings Helen Diebel and Allan McIntyre both of Lancaster; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. She will be laid to rest in East Shelby Cemetery.
