Georgeia Defoe, 85 of Batavia, has gone to be with the LORD on November 2, 2019.

She was born September 4, 1934 in Batavia, NY.

She is predeceased by her husband, Arthur Defoe; her mom, Margaret Washburn-Starkweather; brother, Vern Washburn and her youngest daughter, Dawn Defoe.

She was a wonderful mom to her 5 children and 2 stepchildren.

Survivors include a son, Douglas (Pam) Scott of Corfu; daughters, Donna Scott of Batavia, Diane (Norman) Sheffer of Caledonia, Debora (Dave) Howe of Corfu, Diana Cooley of Batavia and Lenora Shepard of Batavia. A sister, Pauline Dunlap of Georgia and a brother, Kerry Washburn of Chicago. Also survived by 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share in her Celebration of Life on Saturday (November 9^th), 1pm at One Church, 6 Scotland Rd, Akron, NY 14001.

MARYVILLE, TN - Frank Bakos, 70, of Maryville, TN, formerly of East Pembroke, NY, passed away on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at in Knoxville, TN.

Frank was born March 14, 1949, in Batavia, NY, a son of the late Frank and Florence (Plewniak) Bakos.

After graduating from Batavia High School (1967), Frank earned undergraduate degrees at Northwestern Michigan College (Traverse City, MI; 1971) and SUNY Oswego (1974). He earned a Masters degree in Vocational Technical Education from SUNY Buffalo in 1980 and in 2004, received his ASME GDTP certification.

He was a former BOCES Machine Shop Instructor, former employee at Eastman Kodak Co. and for the last 20 years, as the owner of Frank Bakos Associates, exclusively consulted for Tec-Ease, Inc.  He was a leader within the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and served as Chairman for various committees of Senior Level Certified Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing professionals.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Darlene M. (Peck) Bakos; 2 sons, Aaron F. (Pam) Bakos of Knoxville, TN and Adam D. (Katie) Bakos of Elma, NY; a daughter, Laura A. Bakos (Shayan Rastegari) of Maryville, TN; 4 brothers, Thomas (Eleanor) Bakos of Batavia, NY, Paul (Barbara) Bakos of Bel Air, MD, Stephen Bakos of Perry, NY, and Bernard (Mary) Bakos of Batavia, NY; 5 grandchildren (Elliott, Aria, Sophie, Evelyn, and Rumi) and several nieces and nephews.

Frank is preceded in death by a sister, Bernadine Foote, formerly of Elba.

Receiving of friends will take place between 3 and 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 E. Main St., Batavia, followed by a memorial service at 10 am on Monday, with the Rev. Matthew Gold officiating.  Frank will be laid to rest following services in Grandview Cemetery in Batavia, NY.

BATAVIA - On Monday, October 28, 2019, Cynthia "Cindi" Baldwin Lear, loving daughter, sister, aunt, companion and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep at 56.

Cindi was born on August 29, 1963 in Albion, a daughter of Betty (Manes) Baldwin of Batavia and the late Harold Baldwin.

She attended school at Oakfield-Alabama Central School and Genesee Community College. Cindi was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Fort Hood, Killeen, Texas. She later worked as a paralegal for various law firms in New York and Texas. She was also a licensed Mediator and Arbitrator. Cindi lived between Texas,Florida and New York most of her adult life.

Cindi was a music lover of all genres and a walking encyclopedia of songs and artists. She enjoyed dancing to the beat from an early age. She was fun to be around and loved the beach. She loved being with family, playing games and reading. She was a history buff and loved political satire. She was a long time member of a Fantasy Football League in Batavia and loved her Buffalo Bills. Cindi also loved the Houston Astros, Houston Rockets, Texas Longhorns and Buffalo Sabres.

Along with her mother, Cindi is survived by a sister, Linda Potter of Pearland, Texas; brother, Michael Baldwin of Batavia; and “the love of her life” Jeffrey Matla of Batavia; nieces, Nicole Watson, Julie Potter and Stephanie McGuire all of Texas; nieces and nephews "by choice," Ryan Barbeau, Kyle Shultz, Chase Shultz, Stacy Lear, Shannon Rivera, Melissa Cone, Michael Lear, Kyle Lear, Justin Lear, Ryan Lear, Aaron Lear and Pasquale Rapone. Several other aunts and uncles, and cousins also survive.

There will be no prior visitation.  All are welcome to attend Cindi's Memorial Service on Saturday, (November 9, 2019) at 12:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, 306 E. Main Street, Batavia.  The Rev. Raymond Walker will officiate.  Burial will military honors will be private in Cary Cemetery, Oakfield.

Stafford - Ronald Michael Koch, 73, of Stafford, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019, at Strong Memorial Hospital.

Ronald was born August 8, 1946, in Batavia, a son of the late Elon and Leonna (Ewert) Koch.

Ronald worked as a computer systems analyst for Lapp Insulator in LeRoy for 25 years and for 15 years with Specialized Printed Forms in Caledonia.  Along with his wife, Ruth, they owned and operated R and R Computer Systems.  Ron enjoyed golfing and was the secretary for 20 years for the LeRoy Golf League.  He mowed lawns at Terry Hills Golf Course and was a veteran serving with the United States Army. 

Survivors include his wife, Ruth (Rykert) Koch of Stafford, who together celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 21, 2019.  Ronald is also survived by his sons, Jeffrey (Michelle) Koch of Rochester, Brian (Susan) Koch of Bergen, Kevin (Brandi) Koch of Caledonia and Steven (Deidre Fogell) Koch of Tacoma, WA; grandchildren, Christopher (Sheri) Fisher, Ashley (Justin) Statt, Alyssa Koch, Danielle Koch, Derek Koch, Tyler Koch and Cecelia Koch; great-grandchildren, Giovanna, Beau and Lena; a brother, John Koch of Alexander; a sister, Sandra (Charles Curry) Koch of Hunt and several nieces and nephews. 

Ronald is a brother of the late Donald Koch. 

Calling hours are Friday, November 8, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia where military honors will be rendered at 5:00 p.m.  Family and friends are then invited to the Morganville United Church of Christ in the reception hall, 8466 Morganville Road, Stafford at 5:30 p.m. for a reception and a time of fellowship.

Leonardo Maniaci, 80 of Batavia passed away on Saturday November 2, 2019 at Unity Hospital in Rochester. He was born on Januuary 11, 1939 in San Giuseppe Jato, Sicily to the late Francesco (Angela LoForte) Maniaci. He is preceded in death by his wife; Shirley (DiPiazza) Maniaci; a son Mark Anthony Maniaci; siblings Francesco, Giuseppe, Vito, Marcoantonio, Salvatore, Anna, Eleonora.

Mr. Maniace was in the Italian Military and he worked on Ferrouve Dello Stato Italione Railroads before coming to America in 1971. He retired from Lapp Insulator, LeRoy, NY in 2007 after 33 years. Mr. Maniaci enjoyed watching wrestling, the Buffalo Bills, along with walks to Centennial Park and Vandetta Stadium. 

He is survived by his sons Frank (Michele) Maniaci of Batavia; Joseph (Kelly) Maniaci of Buffalo; daughter Angie Maniaci of Batavia; 5 grandchildren Nicolette Maniaci of Australia; Frank Maniaci, Amanda and Alexis Balduf all of Batavia; Juliet Maniace of Buffalo; along with many nieces and nephews.

  Richard Eck, 92, of Varysburg, NY passed away on October 28, 2019 in Albion, NY. He was born in Bennington, NY on August 29, 2019 to the late Glenn and the late Elsa (Ripstein) Eck. Richard was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Sue (Nordin) on March 20, 2018 and his siblings, Elsa Donnelly, Dora Griffen, and Glenna Laird.

Richard retired in 1983 from the New York State Department of Transportation in Warsaw after 37 years of service.

Richard is survived by his brother, Gary (Mary Ann) Eck;  children, Daniel (Tina) Eck of Batavia, Kevin (Karen) Eck of Blairsville, Ga., and Gayle (Garret Peters) Jones of East Amherst, NY; 5 granddaughters, Amy (Marc Adduci) Eck, Karen (Jesse Catino) Eck, Katherine (David) Prest, Savannah (Sal) Russo, and Maren Eck; great grandchildren, Gage Catino and Roe Russo; brother-in-law, Robert (Barbara) Nordin, and several nieces and nephews.

Bergen- Steele Caleb Truax, age 23, of Bergen, passed away on Monday, October 28, 2019 at home.

He was born August 22, 1996, in Rochester, son of Stanley and Vicky Beedham Truax of Bergen.

A 2015 graduate of Byron-Bergen High School, he was a star athlete while in school excelling at football, baseball and basketball. He played football for Elba/Byron-Bergen and during his senior year, he was named Section V Class C defensive player of the year and was honored by the New York Sportswriters Association All-State Award as Second Team, Class C linebacker. He was the starting shortstop on the Byron-Bergen Varsity baseball team since 8th grade. He dearly loved his brothers and sisters.

Surviving along with his parents are his siblings; Aimee (Jeff) Rose of Geneseo, Kenleigh (Fiance Dave Garnish) Stefaniak of Bergen, Joelle Truax of Rochester, Taylor (Shavaughn) Stefaniak of Bergen, Connor Stefaniak of Bergen and Whitley Stefaniak of Buffalo; his nephew; Noah Rose; his niece, Celia Rose; his grandparents; Milford (Pam) Truax of Byron and Nancy (late Doc) Beedham of Bergen and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

His brother, Luke Truax, passed away in 2007.

EAST BETHANY - Marie A. Shea, 79, of East Bethany, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing At Batavia.

 Marie was born March 15, 1940, in Batavia, a daughter of the late Carl and Leona Miller.

She was a worked as an assembler at GTE Sylvania and then a machine operator for Chapin International in Batavia.  She was a member of West Bethany Baptist Church, was the former Court Clerk for the Bethany Town Court and loved animals and riding horses.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister-in-law and aunt.

She was the wife of William E. Shea, whom she married October 1, 1959.

Survivors include her daughter Deborah (Don) Shufelt of Elba; her son Steven Shea of Batavia; 4 grandchildren, Nicole (Patrick) Whelley, Amber Shea, Craig Shufelt and Emily Shea; 2 great-grandchildren, Fergus Whelley and Oliver Whelley; several nieces and nephews.

   GREGORY G. WAGNER, 55, of Attica passed away peacefully in his home on October 24, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born March 20, 1964 to the late Robert and Florence (Kolberg) Wagner of Attica, NY.

Greg enjoyed boating throughout The 1000 Islands and Finger Lakes, snowmobiling in the Adirondacks, was an avid racecar fan, a music lover and a master of the art of ‘air-guitar’. He loved to travel and spend time with his family and closest friends. Greg could light up any room with his smile and witty sense of humor. He was a kind, loving soul who always cared for those around him.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mary Beth (Brooks) Wagner; daughter Megan Wagner of Attica, NY; brothers Bryan (Lois) Wagner of Bracey, VA and Jeffrey (Geraldine) of Angola, NY; niece Lisa Barber of Savannah, GA.

Dorothy M. Williams, 85, of Attica, passed away on October 29, 2019. She was born in Buffalo, NY on October 21, 1934 to the late Clarence and the late Hattie (Schultz) Aures. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Williams; her sister, Joan, brother, Roy, daughter, Sharon and grandson, Michael. 

Dorothy loved old country music and she enjoyed doing puzzles and playing Yahtzee. She was a very crafty lady. Her children and grandchildren will always cherish the many blankets that she crocheted for all those that she loved. Dorothy liked Roses and had a love for candy.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Kenneth (Tracy) Williams, David (Peggi) Williams, Joanne Lukasik, and Sandi Williams; sister, Jean Scherrer, 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

AUSTIN M. HEINEMAN ~ Age 25, of Corfu, died peacefully with his family by his side on Monday October 28, 2019 at Hospice Buffalo following his long battle with cancer. Austin was born April 3, 1994 in Buffalo, NY to Jason Heineman of Corfu and Jamie (McGiveron) Wasielewski of Basom. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Pamela Heineman.

Austin was an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, dirt biking and hanging with his friends. He also enjoyed playing his Xbox especially Call of Duty and watching movies.

Austin is survived by his loving family that includes his siblings, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins and many friends.

IGNATIUS EDWARD DiSALVO ~ Age 76, of Batavia, died Saturday October 26, 2019 at Unity Hospital in Rochester after being stricken at home. He was born in Batavia, NY on January 15, 1943, a son of the late Joseph S. and Frances (Talone) DiSalvo also preceded in death by his sister, Annette Cory.

Ed enjoyed a good cup of coffee especially with his buddies, he was a gentle, kindhearted man who was a friend to all.

BERNICE EVELYN SWIFT ~ Age 86, of Batavia, died Saturday October 26, 2019 at United Memorial Medical Center. Bernice was born September 11, 1933 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to the late George and Ruth (Wilcox) Snyder also preceded in death by her husbands, Albert Swift and William Chesson along with brothers, Leo, Bud Snyder and Otho Bonner; grandson, Kevin Porter and great-grandson, Kyle Lee Maddison Michaels.

Bernice attended the Batavia Assembly of God and enjoyed spending time with her friends at 400 Towers and the Salvation Army.

Surviving are her beloved children, James (Ann Haus) Porter of LeRoy, Kenneth (Donna) Porter of OH, Ellen (David) Wood of E.   Elaine M. Lee, 82, of Perry, passed away on Sunday October 27, 2019 at the Wyoming County Nursing Facility in Warsaw. She was born on June 22, 1937 in Wellsville to the late Amos and Lula (Dimmick) Cornelius. In addition to her parents, Elaine is predeceased by her husband; Raymond Lee; son Daniel Kingdon; siblings Russell Cornelius, Darryl Cornelius and Cecil Gabrielson.

Elaine enjoyed watching Soap Operas, cooking and baking. She always looked forward to all of the Holidays, especially Christmas. She loved camping and fishing at Elma Pond and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her children; Sharon Lee of Perry, James Lee of Perry and Ronald (Sheila) Kingdon of MN.; sister Kathy Powers of MN.; 11 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

Byron – David G. Chupp passed away peacefully at The Villages of Orleans on Saturday, October 26, 2019, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on January 12, 1946 in Batavia, to the late William & Helen (Alexander) Chupp. 

He leaves behind, his beloved wife of 53 years, Patricia M. (Stone) Chupp whom he married on November 20, 1965; his loving children, Paula (Donald) Hohn of Bergen, Roxanne (Joseph) Noeth and Brian Chupp, both of Byron.  He also leaves behind his adored grandchildren, Zachary; Kristin (Ricky Messmer) and Joshua Hohn, all of Bergen and Abigail Noeth and Colin Noeth, both of Byron; his sister, Ruth (Justyn VanRyne) Chupp of Rochester; a brother-in-law, Robert Stone of Byron; a niece Chris Fore and a nephew, Scott Stone.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his parents-in-law, Robert and Mary (Menzie) Stone.

David worked at Eastman Kodak Co. for 34 years, was a US Army Veteran and a Life Member of the Sackett Merrill White American Legion Post.  He was also a Life Member of the Byron Fire Department, having served for 48 years.  He held the office of President and Bingo Chairman with the fire department and served on the Byron Park Committee for many years.

David was a very kind man, always willing to help anyone who needed it.  He loved watching his grandchildren’s sports events and never missed a game.  He loved fishing and he and his family spent many happy years on the water.

Friends may attend a “Celebration of Life” in his honor from 1 to 4 on Sunday, November 3, 2019 at the Byron Fire Hall, Route 262, Byron, NY.  Memorials may be made to the family for distribution to various charities.  Private burial will be in Byron Cemetery, Byron, NY.  Arrangements were entrusted to H.E.
