MINNIE M. GALLINE

MINNIE M. GALLINE – Age 85, of Oakfield, died peacefully Thursday evening December 26, 2013 at her home while under the care of her loving family. She was born February 23, 1928 in Oakfield, NY, to the late Joseph and Onlee (Joslyn) Versaggi also preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph S. Galline in 2011.

   Minnie worked for Kisiel Die Casting for many years and was a lifelong member of St. Padre Pio Parish. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister who had a strong faith in the Lord.

   Surviving are her loving children, Frank Galline of Atlanta, GA and Sandy (Sean) Downing of Oakfield; sister, Mary Lou Battaglia of Oakfield; brothers, Joseph Versaggi of Batavia and Frank (Genevieve) Versaggi of Oakfield; grandchildren, Christopher (Johnnie Lynn) Puccio of FL and Lori (Donald) Wray of Oakfield; great-grandchildren, Brittny, Ryan, Livia, Emma & Neile along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

   Family and friends may visit from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday December 29, 2013 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where prayers will be recited 9:15 a.m. Monday December 30 followed by an 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Padre Pio Parish (Oakfield Site). Burial will be in the church cemetery alongside her husband and memorials in her memory are suggested to the church.

Donald C. Nicklas

Don was born in Buffalo, New York on January 9, 1944 a son of the late Francis and Doris Hitzel Nicklas. He served with the US Army during the Vietnam War. Don owned and operated the former Bells supermarket in LeRoy for many years, he also was a bus driver for Livingston-Wyoming ARC in Mt. Morris. He enjoyed boating, working around his home, and tending to his and his daughter’s vegetable garden. He loved to spend time with family, friends and especially with his granddaughters. He is preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law Francis (Shirley) Nicklas; brother-in-law Ronald Brown; nephew Christopher Moorhouse.

He is survived by his wife whom he married on September 26, 1970 Dawn Goodenow Nicklas, 1 daughter: Karen (Michael) Lee of Pavilion, 2 granddaughters: Tiffani and Samantha Bragg, 2 sisters: Carol (Joe) Moorhouse of Seminole, Fla., Janice Brown of West Seneca, a brother-in-law: Claudie Goodenow of Delevan, nieces and nephews: Joanne, Joey, Patty, Michael, Tom and Dan, along with many great nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call on Friday December 27, 2013 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. Perry, NY 14530. Richard W. Miller

Richard W. Miller, 86 of Attica, passed away on Wednesday December 25, 2013 at his home. He was born October 1, 1928 in Varysburg to the late Arthur M. (Helen Schiltz) Miller. Mr. Miller retired in 1990 from Wyoming Correctional Facility as a Lieutenant where he was President of Retiree’s Chapter 82 and a member of CSEA Union.  Dick was a member of the Attica Fire Department for more than 50 years and Firemen’s Exempt having held many offices in the department.  He was a member of SS. Joachim and Anne Parish, a 4th degree Wyoming County Knights of Columbus #2240 Attica, a school bus driver for 49 years, former Mayor and Village Board Member in Attica. He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth A. (Willard) Miller who passed on July 19, 2011, son Donald Miller in 1995, brothers Edward G. and Charles A. Miller, sister Genevieve Almeter.

Mr. Miller is survived by his children David R. (JoAnn) Miller of Allegany; Daniel W. (Brenda) Miller of Batavia; Susan H. Duncan of Dalton, MA; 12 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Monday December 30, 2013 at SS. Joachim and Anne Parish 50 East Avenue in Attica, NY 14011. Barbara J. Schade

Barbara J. Schade, 92, of Venice, Florida, formerly of Batavia, New York died December 14, 2013. She was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force 1st Lt. Nurses Corp stationed in Pawling, New York. Burial with graveside military services were held Friday, December 20, 2013 at Mt. Albion Cemetery in Albion, New York. Ewing Funeral Home Venice, Florida handled the arrangements.

Nancy A. Van De Walker

Batavia - Mrs. Nancy A. (Klein) Van De Walker, 70, of Batavia passed away peacefully Tuesday (December 24, 2013) at United Memorial Medical Center.

Nancy was born July 23, 1943, in Batavia, the daughter of the late Michael and Myrtle (Lance) Klein.

After 25 years, she retired from Pembroke Central School as a bus driver. Nancy loved spending time with her treasured dog, Radar, and her grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, playing cards, and hanging out with the gals at water aerobics. You could often find her at her favorite coffee shops in Batavia spending time with many family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Charles, Ronald, and Michael Klein, along with her sister Beatrice (Conibear) Warlick.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 34 years, James E. Van De Walker of Batavia; and her children, Sue Ellan (Mark) Bates of Corfu; Kenneth (Cathy) Marble of Batavia, Sue (Don) Van De Walker of Louisburg, NC; James R. (Wendy) Van De Walker of Attica; grandchildren, Kristina (Colby) Sanner; Mitchell Bates;  Donavon Stell ; James (Stephanie) Norton; Beth (Rick) Johnson; Amanda and Daniel Norton; Her sister Rosemary Klein of Millhall, PA; her 2 sister in laws Joanne Klein of Cooper City, FL; Alice Klein of Glen Allen, VA, along with her great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends of Nancy are invited to call from 3 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 27th at the C.B. Beach & Son Mortuary Inc.,4 E. Main St.,  Corfu. A private burial will take place at a later date.

Steven J. Dibble

Warsaw – Steven J. Dibble, 38, of Warsaw, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, (December 22, 2013) in Lancaster.

Mr. Dibble was born May 28, 1975 in Batavia, a son of Dale (Becky) Dibble of Avon and Patricia (Bob) Dibble of Batavia.

Steve greatly enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, family BBQs, and NASCAR.  The light of his life however, were his children.

Surviving along with his parents are his daughters, Chelsea, Emma, Stephanie Dibble all of Batavia, and Allison May Dibble of Warsaw; his longtime companion, Carrie Harris of Warsaw;  a sister, Deborah (John) Miller of Stafford; two step brothers, Dakota Dibble of PA, and Dylan Dibble of Avon.

Steven is preceded in death by a sister, Julie Dibble; maternal grandparents, Edwin L. and Gertrude Sewor; paternal grandparents, Howard H. and Bertha M. Dibble, Sr.  

Friends may call on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where Steven’s Funeral Service will immediately following calling at 1. Lloyd G. "Bud" Silvernail Jr.

LeRoy/Batavia ~ Lloyd G. "Bud" Silvernail Jr., age 54, of Main Street, died unexpectedly on Saturday (Dec. 21, 2013) at home.

      He was born June 29, 1959 in Batavia, a son of Lorraine Kearney Silvernail and the late Lloyd G. Silvernail Sr.

      Mr. Silvernail was a very compassionate man, who was a Batavia police officer, prior to becoming medically disabled.  He enjoyed listening to music, playing guitar and writing poetry.

     He is survived by his mother, Lorraine Silvernail of the Genesee Co. Nursing Home in Batavia, his daughters, Kristin (David) Williams of Batavia and Carrie Silvernail of Buffalo, his sisters, Lori Silvernail of Batavia, Lee (Timothy) Tyler of Stafford and Linda (William) Frank of Elba, his granddaughters, Abigail, Madison and Novella Williams, along with many nieces and nephews.

     Family and friends may call on Thursday from 11 AM ~ 12 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy, where services will be held at 12:00 PM.  Interment will be private in Grand View Cemetery.

Cassandra "Cassi" L. Perrin

LeRoy ~ Cassandra "Cassi" L. Perrin, age 23, of W. Main Street, passed away at home on Wednesday evening (December 18, 2013) in the loving presence of her family after an extended illness.

Cassi was born August 17, 1990 in Rochester, a daughter of William and Christine Looney Perrin.

She will be remembered as a very caring and giving young lady, who lovingly touched the hearts of her family and friends.

In addition to her parents, Bill and Chris of LeRoy, Cassi is survived by her sister, Elizabeth "Lizzy" Perrin of LeRoy, her grandparents; Ann and David Ehrhart Sr. of LeRoy, grandfather, Robert Looney, along with many aunts, uncles and dear friends.  She was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Richard and Betty Perrin.

James R. Goodenbery Jr.

James R. Goodenbery Jr., 60 of Oakfield, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Friday December 20, 2013. He was born September 9, 1953 in Batavia to the late James R. (Irene Pietrzykowski) Goodenbery. Jim was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish in Oakfield. He enjoyed bowling, playing softball and movies. Jim loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren. 

He is survived by his beloved wife Janet M. (Peterson) Goodenbery of Oakfield, sons James R. (Sarah) Goodenbery III of Rodman, Jason P. (Casey) Goodenbery of Eagle River, AK; Jeffrey D. (Corissa) Goodenbery of Bergen and Joseph B. Goodenbery of Washington, D.C. Three brothers Mark of Batavia, Martin (Zina) of Kendall and Matthew Goodenbery of El Paso, TX, six sisters Teresa (Steve) Robinson of Batavia, Barbara (Michael) Crowley of Attica, Ann Goodenbery of E. Bethany, Irene Fuller, Rose Luce and Bernadette Goodenbery all of Batavia. 8 grandchildren Wyatt, Patricia, Rachel, Marianne, Elizabeth, Julianne, Peyton and Cambria survive along with many nieces and nephews.

Shirley M. Foley

Batavia – Shirley M.  Foley, 77, of Batavia, passed away peacefully Friday, (December 20, 2013) at Crossroads House, in Batavia.

Mrs. Foley was born November 6, 1936 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Jack and Evelyn (Limon) Parker.

Shirley was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Batavia.  She was a gifted singer; and enjoyed being a part of the church choir.  She loved to paint; and especially looked forward to family game night.  She will be remembered for her want to help people, having volunteered her time with the Home Visitor Program; and her knack for talking on the phone. 

She is the wife of Nelson Foley, of Batavia.  The couple were married in October of 1972 and spent 41 wonderful years together.

Surviving along with her husband are her children, Karen (Randy) Becker of Indian Falls, and Brian P. (Wendy) Smith of East Bethany; a grandson, Jason Becker of Indian Falls; step-grandchildren, Stacy Malone of Batavia, Sarah Malone of East Bethany, and Samuel Malone of Batavia.  Six step-great-grandchildren also survive.

Shirley is preceded in death by a son, Robert Allen Smith.

Ryan M. Helmer

Ryan was born on July 10, 1990 in Warsaw, a son to Randy and Leilani (Smith) Helmer. He died on December 17, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester surrounded by family. Ryan was a 2010 graduate of Letchworth Central School, he attended the Mt. Morris Day-Hab program through Livingston-Wyoming ARC. He had many interest, he enjoyed bowling, swimming, horseback riding listening to classic music from the 60’s-70’s and 80’s, hunting, playing his video games, and driving his golf cart around Castile. He was active in the Challenger Baseball program in Batavia. He was referred to as Romeo by his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents Donald (Violet) Helmer and Gordon (Mary) Smith; an aunt Cindy Helmer; uncle Stephen Helmer.

He is survived by his devoted parents Randy and Leilani (Smith) Helmer, brother: Travis (Tiffany Sheffer) Helmer of Castile, Aunts and Uncles: James (Chris Helmer of Fl., Susan Helmer of Castile, David (Cindy) Helmer of Warsaw, Kevin (Loretta) Helmer of Buffalo, Tracy Helmer of Castile, Ellie Helmer of Fl., Dana (David) Wright of Pike, Gordon Smith of Perry, Cindy (Angelo) Feroleto of Castile, and Cheryl (Robert) Bush of Geneseo, Godparents: Donna Diver and Richard Sanford both of Castile, along with many cousins and good friends.

Madeline Z. "Lynn" Hoffman

Madeline Z. “Lynn” Hoffman, 61of Elba, passed away on Wednesday December 18, 2013 at the United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born October 1, 1952 in Batavia to the late Charles S. Zambito and Alta (Calarco) Zambito of Elba. Mrs. Hoffman was a member of St. Padre Pio Parish. She worked at the United Memorial Medical Center in the Collections Department. Lynn loved cooking, reading and most of all spending time with her family.

Lynn is survived by her beloved husband Paul G. Hoffman of Elba; sons Paul M. (Debbie Gramza) Clark of Elba; Chris D. Hoffman of Batavia; Matthew R. (Andrea) Hoffman of Virginia Beach, VA; daughter Jaclyn Hoffman of Boone, NC; brothers Charles (Patricia) Zambito of Elba; Rocco (Linda) Zambito of Elba; Joseph (Kelly) Zambito of Punta Gorda, FL; sisters Paulette (Brian) Bird of Elba; Mary Zambito of Elba; Alta (Mark) Giuliano of Ft. Myers, FL; Anne (John) Lexer of East Rochester; one granddaughter Cam Hoffman along with several nieces and nephews.

MARGARET H. "MICKEY" YASSES

MARGARET H. "MICKEY" YASSES – Age 76, of Stafford, died peacefully Sunday evening December 15, 2013 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born October 17, 1937 in Batavia, NY, to the late Edward and Cecelia (Hughes) Hinkson also preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and James Hinkson.

   She was a 1955 graduate of Batavia High School, enjoyed the many friendships made and class reunions she attended, and was a longtime member of Resurrection Parish. Mickey worked at the Genesee County Department of Social Services for over 20 years, at retirement she was the Medicaid supervisor. A camping enthusiast who especially enjoyed trips with the ARGYS camping group, member of the Red Hatters, snow birding with her husband to Florida and time spent with the girls of the "BLAH" "BLAH" club. She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, grandmother and her children will always remember her love of Christmas time. 

   Surviving is her beloved husband of 55 years, Edwin Yasses of Stafford; son, Mark (Cheryl) Yasses of East Bethany; daughter, Kimberly (Timothy) Argenta of Stafford, Lorie (Kenny Radley) Yasses of Batavia; sister, Rita Zack of Batavia; brothers-in-law, Frank (Lorraine) Yasses and Leonard Yasses all of Batavia; sister-in-law, Alice Gean (Amelio) Taddei of Oakfield; grandchildren, Leeanne (Bradley) Grzybek, Jonathon Yasses & Marshall Argenta along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

Daniel M. Thomas

Corfu - Daniel M. “Danny” Thomas, 66, of Corfu, formerly of Le Roy, passed away Friday (December 13, 2013) at Strong Hospital, Rochester.
 
Danny was born on August 19, 1947, in Batavia, a son of Hazel A. Thomas of Avon and the late Joseph Thomas. A machinist by trade, Danny worked for LeRoy Machine in LeRoy. He was an outstanding athlete in LeRoy in his youth, especially in football. Family was the most important thing to Danny. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his sister Becky Holzer and a nephew, Sean Quamina.
 
Along with his dear mother, Hazel A. Thomas, Danny is survived by his loving wife, Ann E. Thomas of Corfu; his daughters, Raequel, Maurica, Danielle and Carla; his son, Adrian; step-sons Jonathan (Jessica) Connolly, Jeff (Danielle) Connolly and Michael (Natalie) Connolly; his siblings, Brenda L. Graham, Bruce Thomas, Rochelle A. Thomas, Beverly L. (Dee) Thomas-Robinson, Christine M. (Herbert) Thomas-Smith, Joseph M. (Anna) Thomas, Khem J. Lucas, Wanda L. Thomas, Cyncerie L. Thomas, Jeffrey Thomas, Wayne (Lisa) Thomas and Toby (Laurasue) Thomas; a brother-in-law, Carl Holzer and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and dear friends, also survive.
 
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service is being planned for in the spring. Arrangements were made by C. B. Beach & Son Mortuary, Inc. 4 East Main Street, Corfu, NY.

GENEVIEVE "BUBBLES" WALKER

GENEVIEVE "BUBBLES" WALKER Age 89, of Batavia, died peacefully Saturday morning December 14, 2013 at United Memorial Medical Center. She was born July 2, 1924 in Batavia to the late Bronislaus and Victoria (Twardowski) Moscicki, also preceded in death by her husband, James Walker Sr.; son, James Walker Jr.; daughter, Janice Ann Walker, grandson, Jason J. Gioia; brothers, Alfred "Fritz", Ray, Joseph "Chief", Henry "Honey" and Edward "Farmer" Moscicki; sisters, Irene Michalak, Gladys Konieczka and Antoniette Feary.

   Gen worked for over 20 years as a lunch aid at Jackson Elementary School and was a lifelong member of Ascension Parish and its Altar & Rosary Society. A fixture for many, many years along with her late husband she catered numerous events at the Sacred Heart Social Center. She will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother who had a love for playing bingo.

   Surviving are her loving children, Patricia (Frank) Gioia and John (Wendy) Walker both of Batavia; sister, Rose Jacques of Batavia; sisters-in-law, Dorothy and Esther Moscicki and Pauline Walker; grandchildren, Frank (Angela) Gioia, Chad Gioia, John (Samantha) Walker, James Walker, Amber (Steve Hall) Bates, Karen Williams, Marcy (Jarred) Wenzler, Ashley and Morgan (Katie) Ramsey III; great-grandchildren, Ty Jason Gioia, Nikki Ramsey, Destany & Drake Foster, Bryce & Mackenzie Riegle along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

   Family and friends may visit from 4-8 p.m. Monday December 16, 2013 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZEWSKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020 where prayers will be recited Tuesday December 17 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 a.m. Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Site). (Please Note: The Altar & Rosary Society will recite the Rosary 3:30p.m. on Monday). Entombment will be in the Monsignor Francis L. Schwartz Mausoleum of St. Joseph's Cemetery. Memorials in her memory can be made in the form of mass offerings or to a charity of the donor's choice.
