DORIS A. SANTERCOLE
Doris was a graduate of Villa Maria College of Buffalo, and the State University of New York at Buffalo where she obtained her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She was an artist and craftswoman, notably talented in photography, jewelry-making and woodworking. While working at Emma: Women’s Books and Gifts in Buffalo, she became active in the women’s community, taking part in a variety of activities and playing a role in Wild Wimmin Productions, bringing female performers to the Tralfamadore Café. Doris had a great passion for automobiles, old and new. She loved the water, walking on the beach, swimming in the ocean, watching sailboats, and following the America’s Cup Races. She was one of Disney’s greatest fans, keeping a running list of questions to ask Walt when she met him in heaven. She sang in the Kendall Community Choir, as well as her church choir. She loved pets and had a difficult time turning away any stray. She was very proud of her Italian heritage and enjoyed cooking and feeding others.
Doris is survived by her beloved partner of 33 years, Anna Bayerl of Kent, NY; sisters, Kathleen (Robert) Pittman, Joyce Terrana, Gloria Eileen (John) Bovey along with several nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends.
