Anthony "Tony" Reisdorf

Anthony “Tony” Reisdorf, 68, longtime resident of Alexander, NY currently of Sioux Falls, SD passed away on Thursday June 4, 2015 at Sanford Hospital, Sioux Falls, SD.  He was born January 24, 1947 in Warsaw, New York to the late Anthony J. and Marian (Becker) Reisdorf. Anthony is preceded in death by father-in-law Marvin J Jacoby; mother-in-law Arlene R Jacoby; brothers-in-law Stanley Rowe , David Carvlin, and Thomas Jacoby.

Tony worked at Lapp Insulator and Pulsafeeder for a combined 43 years.  He was a Service Member, serving in Vietnam receiving several commendations including a Silver Star, Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Tony enjoyed spending weekends in the 1000 Islands, gardening, making beer and wine, and most of all spending time with his family. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the VFW.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 44 years Donna Rae (Jacoby) of Sioux Falls, SD; daughters Karen Reisdorf (William Beitz) of Waldorf, MD, Kristen Mansfield (Thomas Luke) of Harrisburg, SD; grandchildren;  Clayton Pitcher of Amherst, NY, Addison Mansfield of Harrisburg, SD; siblings Thomas (Betty) Reisdorf of Batavia, NY, Kathleen (Tom) Hooper of Lakeview, NY, John (Judy) Reisdorf of Ft Myers, FL, Helen Carvlin of Las Cruces, NM, Diane (Roger) Adkisson of Ft Collins, CO, Jane (John Reynolds) Iannello of Farmington, NY, Nancy (Larry) Carter of Hendersonville, NC, Patsy (Joe) Schofield of Windsor, CO, Mary (Bill) Rudolph of Varysburg, NY, sister-in-law Roxanne (Mark) Keem of Sheldon, NY; brother-in-law Raymond Iannello of LeRoy, NY along with many nieces and nephews.

Catherine M. (Fernaays) Stone

LeRoy ~ Catherine M. (Fernaays) Stone, age 85, of Exchange Street, passed away Saturday morning (June 6, 2015) at the LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home.

    

 Mrs. Stone was born June 8, 1929 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Frederick and Mary McKernan Miller.

          Mrs. Stone was a lifetime LeRoyan, who was devoted to her community.  She attended St. Peter’s School and then LeRoy Central Schools.  She worked for many years as a deputy clerk/treasurer for the Village of LeRoy and received her certification as a certified municipal clerk.  She served on many advisory boards which included LeRoy Little League, LeRoy youth football, treasurer of CYFL football, American Red Cross, Genesee County United Way, Triad, the National Silver Haired Congress and Marshall Fund.  She also served in various capacities with the Botts Forito American Legion Post 1956, Girls State, Genesee County American Legion Auxiliary, Genesee County Red Cross, LeRoy Village Green Nursing Home, Office of the Aging, LeRoy-Stafford Senior Citizens and volunteered many hours at the V.A. Hospital in Batavia.  She was selected as LeRoyan of the Year in 1975, Genesee County Woman of the Year in 1984 and received the St. Jerome Health and Humanitarian Award in 1993.

     She is survived by her children, Daniel (Barb) Fernaays, Thomas (Patty) Fernaays and Joan Fernaays, all of LeRoy; daughter in law, Cheryll Fernaays of LeRoy; grandchildren, Matthew (Sara), Nathan (Farrah), Thomas (Erin), Jacob (Debi) and Amanda; great-grandchildren, Oliver, Henry, Calvin, Claire, Kasey, Michael, Brayden, Abygale, Jacob, Parker and Kali; sisters, Peggy (Ron) Beach of Caledonia and Janet (Lew) Haley of Avon; grand-dogs, Lewis, Billy, Trigger, Genny and Castle, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husbands, Norman Fernaays and Alfred Stone, and a son, Michael Fernaays.

     Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 1 ~ 4 and 6 ~ 9 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19).  Her Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10 A.M. at Our Lady of Mercy Parish (St. Peter’s Church), 44 Lake St., LeRoy with interment to follow in St. Francis Cemetery.

Ronald Howard Schramm, Sr.

Bergen - Ronald Howard Schramm, Sr., 58, of Bergen, the plant operations supervisor at Bonduelle USA, Inc. in Brockport, died Friday, June 5, 2015 at his home in Bergen.

Mr. Schramm was born August 20, 1956 in Batavia, a son of Ronald and Teddie (Andrews) Schramm of South Byron.

He served with the Marine Corps from 1975 to 1979 and achieved the rank of Sergeant.  He was a member of Bergen Rod & Gun Club and Genesee County Fish and Game Protective Assoc. at Godfrey's Pond.  He was an avid Racquetball player, landscaper and gardener.

Surviving along with his parents is his wife of 34 years, Mary Kathleen (Russell) Schramm, whom  he married on  August 16, 1980; a son, Ronald H. Schramm, Jr. of Bergen, 2 grandchildren, Ethan Christopher Schramm and Logan Patrick Schramm, both of Bergen; 3 brothers, Raymond (Edna) Schramm of Batavia, Scott (Lori) Schramm of Buffalo and Pete (Bunny) Schramm of NC; four sisters: Cindy Day of AL, Patti Schramm, Linda Schramm and Sue Schramm, all of Batavia;  several aunts uncles including Richard & Sonia Andrews of South Byron; and several cousins including Jim & Karin Bow of South Byron and Todd & Lori Andrews of AK; several nieces and nephews.   

Friends are invited to attend services on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 5 p.m. at Mt. Rest Cemetery located at the corners of Rt. #19 and #262, followed by a Memorial Services 6 p.m. at H.E. James E. Lipinski

Corfu - James E. Lipinski, 52, of Richley Road, Corfu, passed away Wednesday (June 3, 2015) in a tragic ATV accident, in a field off of Colby and Richley Road. 

Jimmy will be remembered for his quiet strength and strong family ethic. Also for his excellence and dedication to his business and loyalty to his many friends; especially his four-legged girls, Abbie Lynn and Gracie Mae.

He is survived by his long time companion, Dawn Bosse and her son Sal; his loving parents, Frank (Mickey) and Donna Reinhardt; his two children, Jenna M. Lipinski and Brian J. Lipinski; his four siblings and their families, Terry and Jamie Branciforte, Debbie and Tim Baker, Kenny and Beth Lipinski, Penny and Scott Humel; his grandchildren, Dylan and Braiden Lipinski, Seth W. and Miranda W.; also his fourteen nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their deep appreciation to Daniel Miller and the Darien and Corfu EMT’s who got there so quickly and did everything they could. Also to the community and friends for all of the prayers and well wishes sent their way.

Francis H. Bartz

Francis H. Bartz, 89 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Friday June 5, 2015 at his daughters home in Penfield. He was born May 10, 1926 in Linden, NY to the late John (Flossie Harvey) Bartz. He is preceded in death by a grandson Jeramy Wise, brothers Albert, Robert, James and William Bartz; sisters Viola Heale, Julia Wallace and Mable Bartz.

Mr. Bartz retired from Dohler Jarvis in Batavia as well as owning and operating Bartz Cleaning, Inc. for 20 years. He was an avid gardener, volunteered to record all of Women’s Aglow in Western New York, member of Mens Full Gosple Ministries. In the late 1950’s and early 60’s he was a Boy Scout Leader. Mr. Bartz loved his children, adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and people in general along with having a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife Alice (Sanderson) Bartz of Batavia; children Donald (Diane) Bartz of AZ; Linda (Vince) Wise of Cuba, NY; Alice (Robert) Buckel of Batavia; Paula (Robert) Mendes of Penfield; step children Paul Francis of FL; Roger (Faith) Francis of Batavia; Doreen (Benny) DaSilva of ME; brothers John, Henry (Jane), Harvey (Laurie) Bartz; sisters Elizabeth Heale, Bertha Gage, 18 grandchildren and 53 great-grandchildren survive along with many, many nieces and nephews.

Sandra Sanders

Oakfield - Sandra Sanders, 52, of Oakfield, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, (June 2, 2015) at United Memorial Medical Center, in Batavia.

Mrs. Sanders was born April 19, 1963 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Henry and Helen (Hagen) Kingdollar.

Mrs. Sanders loved to spend time with her family and socialize with her friends.

She is preceded in death by two husbands, Dave Kendall and Gary Sanders.

Sandra is survived by her children, Coby (Emily) Sanders of Wyoming, Scott (Tracy) Sanders of Warsaw, and David (Jessica) Kendall of Perry; step-children, Rick Kendall of Batavia, Rob Kendall of Buffalo, Scott and Todd Kendall, both of Batavia; grandchildren, Jonathan Sanders, Steven Sanders, Troy Sanders, and Alyssa Kendall; brothers, Michael and Steven (Paula) Kingdollar; a sister, Darlene Kingdollar all of Batavia; a niece, Kayla Kingdollar of Batavia; nephews, Brandon Kingdollar of Batavia, and Jeff Butler of LeRoy.

NORLENE A. FAZIO

Batavia - Norlene A. Fazio, 79, of Batavia was an active person who was dedicated to her family, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Fazio was born March 27, 1936 in Elba, a daughter of the late Benjamin and Ogreta Frens Boyce.

Her husband, William F. Fazio, Jr., passed away on August 26, 2012.

She is survived by her children, Crystal (Stephen Mullen) Hawley of Batavia, Michael (Kim Saxton) Fazio of Bergen and Bonnie (Lynn) Shuknecht of Elba; five grandsons, Daniel (Linda) Rimmer of Pittsford, Tim (Anne) Rimmer of Rochester, Alexander (Kate) Shuknecht of Elba, Eric (Kayla) Shuknecht of Elba and  Adam Shuknecht of DeWitt, Michigan; and four great-grandchildren, Reagan and Carter Rimmer and Avery and Jacob Shuknecht.

Her family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to her many wonderful friends at Hodgins Engraving for the love and caring that were given to their mother.

As per her request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service, but rather a simple family gathering for a quiet, gentle woman. Kevin M. Diehl

Kevin M. Diehl, 40, of Brockport, NY passed away May 29, 2015 after a long illness. His is survived by his wife Mary, son Charlie, parents - George & Doreen Diehl of Claredon, NY, brothers - Mike (Kerri) Diehl of Byron, NY, Shawn (April) Diehl of Le Roy, NY, sister - Kylene (James) Smith of Rochester, NY, several nieces and a nephew.

Janice Sackett Williams

Much beloved Sister, Aunt, Teacher, Coach, Mentor, and Friend, Janice Sackett Williams, born in Riga, New York, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 27, 2015, at the age of 89.

Janice graduated from Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, PA, and went on to teach physical education and coach women’s field hockey for over 45 years, the predominance of which were spent at Akron Central School, Akron, NY.  She still holds a record as one of the most “winning” coaches in women’s high school field hockey in the state of New York.  More importantly, she was ahead of her time in teaching young women that they were not second class citizens to young men, and impressing upon her corner of the world that she expected her female students and athletes to be treated equally with the male students and athletes.  After her retirement, she spent time with her friends and family, travelled the world, and enjoyed her life to the fullest.  She will be greatly missed, was one of a kind, a force to be reckoned with, and loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lemuel and Florence Wells Sackett, her husband, Merle F. Williams, and her nephew John L. (Rose) Sackett, III.

Janice is survived by her three siblings, Jane S. Uhle, Joan S. (Ralph) Spaulding and John L. (Jean) Sackett, Jr., her two nieces, Deborah S. (Jay) Miller and Alexandra Spaulding, a nephew, Charles (Amy) Sackett , several grand-nieces and nephews, and many, many dear friends.

A  Celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at the Akron Masonic Lodge, 63 John Street, Akron, N.Y., from 3-6pm, with a Tribute to Janice beginning at 4pm.

BARBARA DONAGHUE

Batavia - Barbara L. Donaghue, 79, of Batavia, passed away unexpectedly in Largo, Florida.

Miss Donaghue was born December 9, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana, a daughter of the late Roger and Louise Stevens Donaghue.

She was a retired office manager at the New York Life Insurance Company in Receda, California.  A member of Resurrection Parish she graduated from Batavia High School in 1952.

Survivors include her brother, Gerald (Dolores) Donaghue of Batavia; two nephews, Patric Donaghue of Honeoye and Michael Donaghue of Utica and great nieces and nephews.

Ruth Elizabeth Arnold

Ruth Elizabeth Arnold

Ruth passed away peacefully in her sleep on Sunday (May 31, 2015) at the age of 93. She was born in Buffalo on July 19, 1921 to Jerome and Margaret White. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Paul W. Arnold.

She is survived by her three children Lynn (James) Mancuso, Gary (Delia) Arnold, and Dale (Dawn) Arnold. She leaves behind seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Chapel at Acacia Park Cemetery in Tonawanda, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Shirley Arlene Acheson Lang

Stafford - Shirley Arlene Acheson Lang, 86, of Stafford, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, May 31, 2015, as was her wish, surrounded by her family. 

She was born March 4, 1929 in Buffalo, to the late George and Edna L. Eick Acheson. 

She graduated from Batavia High School in 1947 after surviving Polio and spending two years in Children's Hospital in Buffalo.  She later married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Ernest W. Lang on June 28, 1953.  They made their life together residing in Stafford, raising a family for nearly 62 years.   She was a faithful member of the New Apostolic Church since 1949.  She will always be remembered for her kindness, putting her children first and being a faithful and devoted wife.  She was a lover of animals, gardening, antiques, shopping, and all things "on sale".  She appreciated the small things in life and taught her family much about being grateful to have each other.  Having survived a battle with Polio and the loss of her mother as a young girl, she possessed a deep sense of compassion and empathy for others.  

She is survived by her loving husband and was the devoted mother of Lorene R. (Michael) Knapp of Jamestown, Marc E. (Nancy) Lang of Overland Park, KS and George A. Lang of Independence, MO; and proud grandmother of Matthew M. Komula, Julie A. (Eric) Eckberg, Allison E. Knapp, all of Jamestown; Catherine A. Lang, Ryan M. Lang and Andrew E. Lang, all of Overland Park, KS; Bradley W. Lang of Olathe, KS; Chad A. Lang  and daughter-in-law Lesley Lang, both of Johnstown, CO.  She was great-grandmother of Mallory, Elyse, and Benjamin Eckberg of Jamestown. 

Other survivors include sisters-in-law Elizabeth Lang of Batavia and Ruth Hemry of Bergen; brother-in law, Fred Born of Rochester; cousins Anita (Walter) Gibala of Stockton, and Rosmarie Acheson of Batavia and many nieces and nephews.  

Besides her parents she was predeceased by her infant daughter, Lisa Ann Lang (1957) and half-brother, Kenneth J. Biro of Niagara Falls, NY, brother-in-law, Walter Lang of Batavia, sister-in-law, Helen Lang of Spencerport, brother-in-law, Herbert Hemry of Bergen and cousin Gerald Acheson of Batavia. 

Calling hours are Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia.  Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday at New Apostolic Church, 750 Marshall Road, Rochester.  Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Batavia. 

The family suggests memorials may be made to Home Care & Hospice, 29 Liberty St., Suite 6, Batavia, NY 14020.

Dorothy A. Moscicki

Dorothy A. Moscicki, 84 of Castile, passed away peacefully on Monday (June 1, 2015) in Warsaw, NY at the home of her daughter.

She was born September 7, 1930 in Lackawanna, NY, a daughter of the late John and Bertha Klimowicz.

Dorothy enjoyed spending time with her family, especially with her late husband. Fishing together on Oneida Lake was pure enjoyment for each of them. She also enjoyed gardening and tinkering outside of her home.

She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond J. Moscicki who died on May 2, 2008.

Survivors include a daughter, Michelle “Mickey” O’Brien of Warsaw. Son, Gerald Moscicki of Cowlesville.  Seven grandchildren, Robert Jr., Shane, Clint and Katy O’Brien, James and Jessica Moscicki and Carol Magoffin. Sisters in-law, Rose Jacques and Esther Moscicki of Batavia.  Also survived by seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Friday from 4-7pm at the J. LEONARD MCNADREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA, where funeral services will commence at the conclusion of visitation at 7pm.

RICHARD J. GENTNER

Sandy Springs, Georgia - Richard Joseph Gentner, formerly of Batavia, born April 24, 1936 in Batavia, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 30, 2015 in Atlanta, after his courageous battle with Alzheimer's. Richard was 79 years old.

He is survived by his son, Chris Gentner Sr.(Heather) of Sandy Springs, Georgia and his daughter, Dea Gentner, of Austin, Texas. He is also survived by his grandson, Christopher Daniel Jr. "CJ" Gentner, and granddaughter, Kyleigh Elizabeth Gentner, both of Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Merna Gentner of Batavia of Batavia and his sister, Patricia Ellen Gentner of Washington, DC.

Friends may call on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Bohm-Calarco-Smith Funeral Home, 308 East Main Street, Batavia. Graveside services, with full military honors, will follow the visitation at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Batavia at 10 a.m. Richard faithfully served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

Geraldine M. Sims

Coolidge, AZ - Geraldine M. Sims, 52, of Coolidge, AZ, formerly of Pavilion, passed away Wednesday, (May 13, 2015) in Arizona.

Mrs. Sims was born May 20, 1962 in Batavia, a daughter of Donald and Mona (Orr) Griswold, of Pavilion.

Geraldine was a graduate of Pavilion High School and was a Cub Scout den mother and enjoyed volunteering at her son's school.  She was active in youth soccer in Arizona and loved to travel.

Surviving along with her parents are her husband, Matthew Sims; her son, Joseph Sims; brothers, James (Jeni) Griswold of Cheektowaga, and David Griswold of Gainesville; sisters, Peggy (late Jim) Bianchi of Gates, and Roberta (Philip) Tracy of Pavilion.  Several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.

There will be no prior visitation.  Family and Friends are invited to a graveside service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday (June 6, 2015) at Stafford Rural Cemetery, Transit Road, Stafford.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Genesee Cancer Assistance, Inc., 16 Bank Street, Batavia, NY 14020.
