Mary Agnes and her late husband, Warren G. Zinke, married on June 22, 1949 and they resided with their children in Attica. Mary Agnes was a lifelong member of St. Vincent de Paul church and was active in many organizations in the parish, and served on the Bishop’s Committee for over 48 years and taught religion class for 20 years. Mary’s work career included positions with Feed and Grain Brokers in Buffalo for fourteen years, Rand McNally, Hardie Insurance Company and Welcome Wagon. While her children were young, she particularly enjoyed her role as Welcome Wagon Representative serving the community of Attica.    

She is survived by her children, Robert (Elaine) Zinke of Waynesville, NC; Ann (Keith) Almeter of Attica; Mary Lou (Jack) Kellner of Attica; John (Holly) Zinke of Stafford. Mary was blessed with twelve grandchildren, Eric Almeter, Sarah Almeter Spink, Alyson Almeter Romesser, Paul Zinke, Leah Zinke Woody, Rachel Zinke Fenner, Jenna Kellner Austell, Jill Kellner Seymour, Alyssa Zinke Almeter, Adam Zinke, Andrea Zinke and 15 great-grandchildren, along with many loving nieces, nephews and dear friends.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday September 1, 2015 at Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish 50 East Ave. Attica, NY 14011. She will be laid to rest in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.

LeRoy ~ Kenneth R. "Kenny" Stein, age 55, of Oatka Trail, went home to be with the Lord unexpectedly, while on his farm, on Friday, August 21, 2015.

     Kenny will be remembered as a very loving and compassionate man, who cherished his wife and family, and adored his grandchildren.  He was truly dedicated to his faith and loved Jesus with all his heart.  He had a strong work ethic and loved his work on the family farm.  Kenny always had a smile and kind words for all.

     In addition to his mom and stepdad, Jane (Frank) Stein-Pierce, Kenny is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Kathleen Greenwood Stein; daughter, KellyRose (Ben) Nichols of LeRoy and son, Elijah Stein of LeRoy; grandchildren, Kenzie (named after her grandpa, Kenny) and Eliza Nichols; his brothers, Mark (Marge) Stein of GA and their children, Krista and Willie; Dale (Lily) Stein of LeRoy and their children, Nate and Casey; Ray (Shelley) Stein of LeRoy and their children, Tasha and Jerrod; John (Beth) Stein of GA and their children, Julia, Jillian and Bethany; along with many great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends.  Kenny was predeceased by his dad, Louis "Bud" Stein.

     Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life Service for Kenny on Tuesday at 10:00 A.M. at the Calvary Baptist Church, 8703 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy.

Kirk was a 1967 graduate of Haverling High School, Corning Community College and graduated with his Masters degree from SUNY Geneseo. He worked as a salesman for 39 years at Rochester Optical, and was currently the Priest at the Holy Apostles Episcopal Church in Perry for 5 years.
He was a member of the Perry Area Ministers Association in Perry, and a former member of the Perry Kiwanis Club. He enjoyed gardening, reading, he was the master at the grill, loved his cats, he loved science fiction whether it be on TV or in a book, an avid history buff, especially in the Civil War and World War I and II. He and his wife enjoyed do –it-yourself projects in remodeling their home.

He is survived by his wife: Anne E. (Nye) Katner whom he married on June 20, 1970, a daughter: Cheri Katner of Orlando, Fl., son Todd Katner of Warsaw, grandson: Dylan Katner of Port St. Lucie, Fl., sister: Karen (Dave) Sorensen of Horseheads, brother: Kris (Lisa) Katner of Abilene, Tx., sister-in-law: Carol Grossman of Andover, 2 brothers-in-law: Bruce (Sheilagh) Nye of Myrtle Beach, S.C, and Lyle (Nancy) Nye of Machias, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mrs. Hall was born November 13, 1929 in Alexander, a daughter of the late Elmer and Marian (Hammond) Foster.  Her father’s homestead is the first stop on the Genesee County Museum tour.

Dorothy graduated from Alexander High School as Valedictorian of the class of 1947.  She was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Batavia and it was there that she developed her love of music.  She was a member of the choir at church and at the Florida Camp Inn in Davenport, Fla. 

She participated in talent shows as a soloist and in groups at her camp and other campgrounds in Fla.

Mrs. Hall was very proud of her garden and gardening skills.  Her gardens were a great pleasure for her and others.  She was proud to have been able to continue to nurture flowering plants that were her mother's and then pass them along to her children. 

Dorothy was also an accomplished artist; a talent and love for which she rediscovered later in life.  When her children got married she was proud to gift them an original piece of art. 

She is the wife of the late William D. Hall who passed away in 2008.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Wende (Sidney Richard) London of Batavia, Ronald (Shellye Dale) Hall of Elba, and Scott (late Judith) Hall of Batavia; grandchildren, Melanee London of Oakfield, Shayna Hall of Ann Arbor, MI, Bradley Hall of San Francisco, CA, David (Ashley) Hall of Batavia, and Philip Hall of Batavia; great-grandchildren, Cooper Hull, Matthew Harris, and Elizabeth Harris; brothers, Richard Foster of Alexander, and Deane (Ann) Foster of Darien.  A grandson-in-law, Jason Harris of Howell, MI also survives.

She is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Amy Harris; a brother, Donald Foster; and a sister, Betty (late Robert) Hampton.

There will be no prior visitation.  Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Sunday (August 23, 2015) at 1:00 p.m. at the Grand View Cemetery, Clinton Street Road, Batavia.  The family requests memorial contributions be made in Dorothy’s memory to the First Baptist Church of Batavia, 306 East Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020.  Flowers are gratefully declined.

LeRoy ~ Dennis L. Covey, age 62, of Linwood Road, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, August 18, 2015.

     Dennis will be remembered as a very loving family man, who just adored his children and grandchildren.  He loved all aspects of nature, especially fishing, and bird watching. He also was a diehard NY Yankees and Denver Broncos fan.  He had a passion for the "small town atmosphere" of where he lived and grew up and was very proud of being an alum of the Caledonia-Mumford Red Raiders.

     He is survived by his loving fiancée, Patricia Canfield of LeRoy; his children, Major Carlton James Covey, M.D. with the U.S. Air Force, Bethesda, MD, Julie Ann Covey of Caledonia and Vicki (Tim) McArdle of Caledonia; step-children, Jamie (Chris DiRienzo) Canfield of Ithaca and Kyle (Melanie Issa) Canfield of LeRoy; grandchildren, Liam, Avalyn, Keegan and "Baby"  McArdle and Ronan DiRienzo; siblings, Sylvia (Ronnie) Rothrock of Caledonia, Harold Eugene (Pat) Covey of Caledonia, Sonia (Jim) Appleton of Caledonia and Linda Covey of Frewsburg, NY; along with many nieces, nephews, dear friends and his beloved cat, Sam.

SUSAN LEISER

   Age 63, of Batavia, died peacefully Saturday morning August 15, 2015 at the Genesee County Nursing Home. She was born October 28, 1951 in Albany, a daughter of the late Edward and Annabelle Bailey.

   Sue was a former prison guard and worked as a driver for the B-Line. She enjoyed music jamboree's, motorcycles, camping and was an avid doll collector.

   She is survived by her companion, Leonard Wawrzyniak of Batavia and her dear friends, Kathy and Craig.

Honeoye - August 17, 2015 at age 89 years. Predeceased by her first husband Elmer Distler and her siblings. Survived by her husband of 31 years, Jim Dorr of Honeoye. Also survived by many nieces & nephews, extended family, and many friends.
Dorothy was a retiree of Laminex in Honeoye, was a long time member of the Honeoye Fish & Game, and was a 50 year member of the Honeoye-Hemlock American Legion Auxiliary.

Batavia - Nancy Marshall Barton of Batavia, 88, retired dental hygienist for Dr. Russell Marchese, D.D.S., Batavia, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 at United Memorial Medical Center.

Mrs. Barton was born in Kenmore, New York, the daughter of the late Robert and Violet Garlock Marshall.

Nan loved gardening and birdwatching. She found joy in her friendships and caring for others; she loved life. 

Nan will be remembered and loved by her family as being the most thoughtful, thankful person they knew. Her positive attitude and the courage she demonstrated through any situation in life made her an exemplary role model for her family. She deeply loved her children, grandchildren, and great grand-children.

Nan's family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff at The Manor House for the loving care they gave to their mother and grandmother. She made a lovely home for herself there, and cherished her friends.

Her beloved husband, Charles W. Barton, passed away on May 8, 2008.

She is survived by her children, David (Marianne) Barton of Las Vegas, Nevada; Pamela Barton of Coronado, California; Susan Dunlap (Jeffrey) of Greensburg, Pennsylvania; William (Mary Kay) Barton of Silver Lake, New York; eight grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She is the mother of the late Robert Barton.

Gene was a graduate of Attica High School. He served in the US Army Engineers from 1963 to 1965 where he was trained as a heavy equipment operator. He was retired from the Wyoming Correctional Facility where he had been employed as a Vocational Supervisor. Gene was a lifelong resident of Attica. He grew up on his parents’ farm on Dunbar Road and as a teen he worked for several local farmers. This is where he developed his love of horses that led him into rodeo. He competed in several events, including bronc riding, steer wrestling and bull riding. He was one of the founding members of the Attica Rodeo and Show Association. Gene raised horses and hay on his farm in Attica. Through the years he taught many of the teens who worked for him to operate a variety of farm machinery and heavy equipment. He encouraged all who would listen to get a good education. A few years ago Gene’s lifetime skills, knowledge of construction and friendships with other skilled tradesmen allowed him to be his own contractor when he built a new house for himself and his wife. Gene was a hard working, decent, quiet man. He was known for his sense of humor and was still telling jokes the day before he passed away. He was a private person who didn’t often discuss his faith but he accepted Christ as his savior. If pressed on the subject he would say, “Me and God are tight.” Those closest to him are certain he’s in Heaven now.

He is survived by his loving wife Nancy Reding of Attica; stepdaughter Lisa Lambiase of Chicago; sister Ann Meek (William) Nye of East Aurora and 2 nephews.

Marge is also survived by her sister Jane (Frank) Sidari of Albion and sister-in-law Barbara (Robert) Schultz of Elba. Pre-deceased siblings include Robert, Doris (Don) Wyckoff, and Betty (Fred) Herman; brother-in-law John Bliestein of Sandusky.

Many nieces and nephews from both sides of the family will recall lessons learned by example from this strong woman.

Her interests included activities at the Batavia Senior Center, and Marge was very fond of neighbors and friends. In Batavia, she adored her friends at the Senior Quilters group, Knit and Crochet group, Senior Volunteers, and enjoyable bus trips with others. She was an outstanding euchre player, and played other card games with friends. She was active in the Pavilion Young at Heart Group and the Transit Ladies Club.

Through the years, she worked on the muck, Batavia Shoe Factory, Curtiss Wright Aircraft, Union Steel Chest and Chapin Manufacturing. Per her wishes, there will be no calling hours. After graduating Batavia High School, he served in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was as a mechanic for the Air Force on B-17s, B-24s and Mustangs. In the closing months of the War, he was appointed an Allied base boiler mechanic in Nuremburg overseeing German prisoners assigned to him. Those prisoners saved his life when his clothing caught fire.

He returned to the U.S. and on June 8, 1946 married Jean Ricciof Batavia, who passed away November 9, 2007. Larry worked for Massey-Harris, then as a Snap-On Tool sales rep calling on many area garages, towns and schools. He was a regional sales rep for FMC Corporation when he retired. He was a member of St. Anthony’s RC Church that his father and uncles helped build. He belonged to its Holy Name Society and served as the church’s Boy Scout leader raising five young men to Eagle Scouts. He was a past president of Batavia Lions Club.  In later life, he compiled a family genealogy distributing more than 100 copies to relatives and donating a copy to Richmond Memorial Library. He was a lifelong learner taking computer technology classes at Genesee Community College and becoming an online stock market trader.  He was a summer resident of Silver Grove, Silver Lake, NY.  He and Jean traveled in retirement to Italy and Africa and much enjoyed family weekends at the lake playing cards and horseshoes.

Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his siblings: Angeline, James, Samuel, Paul, Joseph, and Carmella (Minnie) Barone; and his grandson, Jeffrey Andrews.

   Age 74, of Corfu, died peacefully Saturday August 15, 2015 at Hospice Buffalo in Cheektowaga. Judy was born in Tonawanda, NY on April 24, 1941, to the late James and Ruth (Hunter) Welch, also preceded in death by a brother Vincent Welch.

   Mrs. Schumacher worked for many years at the Erie County Home & Infirmary, she was a member of the Corfu Garden Club and Faith Community Chapel where she sang in the choir.

   Surviving is her beloved husband of 49 years, Ray Schumacher of Corfu; loving daughter, Michelle (James) Cansdale of Corfu and their children, Austin, Ryan & Connor; sons, Dennis (Diane) Zuch of Batavia and their children, Brianna, Nicholas (Rochelle); Greg (Peggy) Zuch of W. Batavia and their children, Joseph, Dottie (Danny) & Michael; Ron (Brenda) Zuch of Attica and their children, Adam & Sherri; Michael (Jennifer) Schumacher of Holiday, FL and their daughter, Elyse; brother, Bob (Diane) Welch of Grand Island; sister-in-law, Mildred Welch of Tonawanda along with many great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
