Theodore “Ted” Genagon of Oakfield, New York passed away peacefully at Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center in Rochester, New York on September 17, 2021.

Ted was born on December 11, 1945, the eldest of four children born to the late June and Herbert Genagon of Byron, New York. He grew up on his family’s dairy farm, where a strong work ethic and a love for the outdoors was instilled in him at an early age. He attended Byron-Bergen School and was a member of the Genesee County 4-H program from 1955-1964. He proudly showed his family’s Holstein cows, including his favorite cow Lucy, and won Master Showman twice. This was a legacy he was proud to share with his children and grandchildren.

Upon high school graduation, Ted attended Rochester Business Institute, but knew his heart was back in Genesee County, where he would spend the rest of his life working with his hands. He was a skilled electrician, farm worker, welder and mechanical engineer and worked for L. Brooke Farms, the United States Gypsum Company, Doehler Jarvis, Rochester Products and finally Eastman Kodak Company where he retired in 2005.

Ted took pride in always bettering himself and learning new skills, and spent years attending night school at Genesee Community College where eventually earned his Associate’s Degree in 1993. He shared his passion for the outdoors with boy scouts, serving as Scout Leader for the local Elba, New York troop.  He also earned his recreational pilot’s license and became an avid photographer. He spent his retirement returning to his love of farming, and worked at Naas Farms in Oakfield, New York, Zuber Farms in Elba, New York and Del Mar Farms in Batavia, New York until this year.

Ted enjoyed sharing his lifetime of stories and experiences with family and friends. His warm and inviting personality meant he never met a stranger, and one introduction to Ted guaranteed you a helping hand or an invitation to his home for a meal.

He will be greatly missed by his family and friends, including his first wife Kathryn Genagon, daughters Laura (Kevin) Kemler of Albion, New York and Amy (Al) Hagovsky of Gaithersburg, Maryland, stepdaughter Tammy (Rich) Cook of Batavia, New York, brother William Genagon of Byron, New York and sister Nancy Genagon of Bolivar, Tennessee. He is also survived by his seven grandchildren, Kirstie, Lennon, Lindsie, Anya, Orion, Willow and Calvin, and his great granddaughter Ophelia. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Ruth (Weinert) Genagon.

Internment will be private. A celebration of life will be jointly held for Ted and his recently deceased wife Ruth “Ruie” Genagon for family and close friends. LeRoy - Retired City of Batavia Chief of Police Mark L. Robinson passed away unexpectedly at his residence on September 7, 2021.

 A 30 year veteran of the Batavia force Mark was predeceased by Karen his loving wife of 51 years.

 Mark is survived by his children Mark (Kathy) Robinson and Kellie (Jamie) Baker as well as his brothers Richard (Cindy) Robinson, Kevin (Susan) Dowd, his nephew Scott Giddings, his grandchildren Peyton and Trevor Robinson along with several other nephews and nieces.

 A 1968 graduate and class president of LeRoy Central School, Mark was a key member of both the LeRoy basketball and football teams, for which he served as team captain.

 As a police officer, a little league coach, a husband, a grandfather and father Mark was known as honest, direct, hard working, sarcastic and loyal leader!

Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday (September 22, 2021) from 3 to 6:30 p.m. at the H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street in Batavia, where a brief non-denominational service will follow from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. Mark has donated his body to the UB School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences. Randy L. Ridd, 64, of Batavia, passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021.

Randy was born March 8, 1957 in Batavia, a son of Herb Ridd of Bergen and the late Josephine (Beedham) Ridd.

Randy enjoyed camping, the races, holidays and spending time with his family.  He will be remembered for always helping others.

Surviving along with his father are his daughters, Bryana (Zack) Tomporowski of Alden and Randi Lynn (Dominic Tiberio) Ridd of Holley; grandchildren, Jayce Tomporowski and Mason Ball; a sister, Robin (Randy) Mitchell of Bergen;a brother, Roger (Kel Quinn) Ridd of Bergen;  nieces and nephews, Jessica (Josh) Quaintance of Bergen, Kyle (fiancée Lauren Lindsay) Mitchell of Churchville, Jodi (fiancé Joey Shanley) Mitchell of Churchville and Ian (Grace DeValder) Ridd of Batavia; his girlfriend, Jessica Holtz of Batavia; the mother of his children, Jean Ridd of Bergen; great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Preceded in death by his aunt and uncle, Betty and Ted Wride.

Randy's Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, September 25 at the Bergen Rod and Gun Club, 6410 North Lake Road in Bergen.

  Heaven rejoiced and earth sorrowed on September 14, 2021 when Robert Steven Smith was called home. Steven as he preferred to be called, was born November 5, 1958 in Albion, NY to the late Charles Smith Sr. and Johnnie Mae Smith. 

Steve was a strong, optioned man whom loved to fix on cars, refurbish furniture, gardening/landscaping, traveling, cooking (especially beans) and ALL animals. 

Steven is predeceased by his sibling Pamela Rose and David Eugene Sr. 

Steven leaves to cherish his memory his daughters Stacey L. Smith and Kendra Scott of Batavia, step-son Barry Johnson.  Brother and sister-in-law Charles Jr and Penny Smith of St. Louis, MO. Sisters Veronica Smith and Debra Smith both of Batavia. Sister-in-Law Charlese Smith of Akron Ohio. Grandchildren Gyna, McKyi, Aries and Miracle. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. 

Steve will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Pavilion ~ Cody R. Lowe, aka Cody Bob or CoCo, age 21, passed away Wednesday (Sept. 15) at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville.

     He was born November 30, 1999, a son of Chris and Beth Lowe of Pavilion.

   

  In addition to his parents, Cody is survived by his brother, Ryan (Angela Graham), sister, Lindsay; grandparents, Ron and Betsy Lowe of Pavilion and grandfather, John Weddle of Columbus, GA; uncle, Darin Lowe (Pam Torrey), cousins, MacKenzie Lowe and Maddie Lowe; aunt, Julie (Rusty) Shearing, cousins, William Shearing and Austin Shearing; uncle, Bob Weddle (Colleen Tarpey), cousins, Jack Weddle and Brandon Weddle; uncle, JT (Carley) Weddle, cousins, Tucker Weddle, Mason Weddle and Rees Weddle, along with many great uncles, aunts and cousins.

     He was predeceased by his grandma, Mary Beth Weddle and great-grandparents, Ken & Fran Lowe and Wes & Betty Kline.

     Cody was an amazing young man with autism.  At 10 1/2 years old, he went to live with Lifetime Assistance for 8 years, then moved to Doylestown, PA with Foundation Behavioral Health for 3 years and recently moved to a home with Fingerlakes DDSO.  Cody was known for his amazing smile and infectious laugh!  He loved music and loved to dance.  He loved animals, especially cats...he was crazy about cats.  His love was Taylor Swift and his momma!  He gave the best forehead kisses.  McDonalds was his all time favorite place to eat. 

     Cody has touched so many people's lives!  He will be greatly missed.  Cody donated his organs to at least 3 people.

     The family would like to thank everyone that has been involved in his life.  You all made a difference.  We appreciate you all.

  Margaret E. Lewis, 75, of Batavia passed away on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia. She was born on May 29, 1946 in Batavia to the late Leon (Mary Arnold) Hale Sr. She is predeceased in death by a daughter, Shelley Ann Michel, brothers William and David Hale, sisters, Eleanor Hale and Paulette Konieczny.  

Mrs. Lewis worked for the Daily News for many years. She always donated her time, energy and love to volunteering at the Salvation Army in Batavia. She was an avid Bingo player and truly loved to play and call any chance she got. Margaret enjoyed delivering papers at Washington Towers too.

She is survived by her children, Les “Mickey” Micheal, Charmaigne Michel of Batavia, siblings, Leon R. Hale Jr of FL, Judith (Zenon) Kowal of Lockport, Paul “PJ” Hale of Tonawanda, one grandchild and many nieces and nephews.

LeRoy ~ Kenny, 36, passed peacefully with family by his side, on Tuesday, Sept 14^th, 2021. Even though a failing heart took him away from this world, his loving heart left a beacon of light for all who knew him.

   

  Kenny was born Sept 23^rd, 1984.  He’ll be forever missed by his family- parents, Kenneth “Chip” & Christine Smith; sister, Nicole Smith and brother, Thomas Smith.  He was predeceased by his soul mate, Cassondra Majors, his paternal grandparents, Ken & Lucile “Blondie” Smith, and maternal grandfather, John Innes Jr.  Kenny will also be missed by maternal grandmother, Mary Innes, many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephew, and loving friends.

     He’ll forever be remembered for his intensity on the football field, his booming laugh, warm hugs, and caring, giving nature.

Batavia - David Paul Elwell, age 67, of Batavia, passed away at Buffalo General Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was born Monday, April 26, 1954 in Batavia, a son of the late Eldon J. Elwell and Emajean R. Berry Elwell.

A diehard fan of the New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills, he enjoyed spending time with his family and his lottery tickets

Surviving are his children; Justin (Gillian Ritzel) Elwell of Avon and Emily Jean Elwell of Buffalo; three grandchildren; Jenna Elwell, Kelsee Elwell and Kobe Vanskiver and his fourth grandson who is due in February, 2022; his brother; Douglas J. (Liz) Elwell  of Laughlin, Nevada; his sister; Barbara (David) Benedict of Dansville; nieces, nephews, loving cousins many friends including his best friend of over 50 years Joe Pietrzykowski also survive.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family in East Bethany Rural Cemetery. A public celebration of life for David is being planned by his family and will be announced.   Gloria J. McKenzie, 69 years old, of Batavia, formerly of Warsaw passed away on Sunday September 12, 2021 at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester. She was born in Warsaw on August 31, 1952 to the late Ernest Burdette and Lillian (Hare) Galton. She is predeceased in death by her daughter; Kimberly DuBois-Rider; sister Charlotte Strathearn; brother Eric Galton.

Gloria was an amazing woman, so kind and loving. She would do anything for anyone and had a heart of gold. She loved dirt racing, gardening, baking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her beloved husband; Thomas McKenzie of Batavia; children David (Sheila) DuBois, Duke (Danielle) DuBois, Lindsay (Andrew) McKenzie and son-in-law Joseph Rider; siblings Alan Galton, Darlene Gray and Julie (John) Lawson; 8 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.

There will be no prior calling hours and Funeral Services will be private for the family.

Deborah “Debbie” Gail Gabriel f/k/a Debbie Chamberlain Voltura Plant passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, September 5th at the age of 72 in Vail, AZ.

Debbie was born February 23, 1949 in Rochester, NY to Earl & Betty Chamberlain. Along with her parents she was predeceased by her Step-mother Evie Chamberlain. 

Surviving are her husband Marc Gabriel of Vail, Arizona, her brothers Chris (Rhonda) Chamberlain of California & Steve (Judy) Chamberlain of New York. She is also survived by her Step-children Debbie (Tom) Shea of Batavia, NY and Greg (Nicole) Voltura of Corfu, NY, Step-grandchildren Addison Shea, Angelo, Sara & Melissa Voltura and 2 nieces and a nephew, Scott, Meredith & Gabby as well as many close friends and fans. 

Debbie graduated from Nazareth High School in Rochester, NY and she went on to earn an Associates Degree in Hotel Management from Sullivan County Community College but singing was always her passion. She started her professional singing career at age 16. Often referred to as “Vanilla Ella,” Debbie’s voice was as powerful as the vivacious energy she brought into a room whether with family and friends or with her audience. Debbie worked with many distinguished musicians including Kenny G and Chuck Mangione. 

Debbie had an incredible voice and produced several jazz CD’s over the years! Even toured with Louise Hay, Wayne Dyer & Deepak Chopra and played shows all around the country including Madison Square Garden. She had an infectious zest for life filled with humor and joy. Similar to her ever-changing hair color and style, she was bold, blunt and beautiful. Debbie’s email address and personalized license plate perfectly described her personality - “diva girl”.

James L. Werth, age 72, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at his home.

Jim was born on November 20, 1948, a son of the late Wilber W. and Katherine I. Ruck Werth.

Jim leaves behind his wife; Dawn M. Betties Werth; his sister; Kay Burger; children; Greg (Amy) Werth Freeman, Steven (Trisha) Werth, Dawn (Mike) Stoll, Lance (Michelle) Werth, Jim (Brianne) Emery, Jenn (John) Cascell and Michael (Brian) Betties; thirteen grandchildren; Lauren, Will, Tony, Miah, Mason, Austin, Brady, Colton, Michael, Brittny, Ryan, Ellie and Jamison; his nephew; Brandon (Liz) Burger; special aunts; Mary, Rosalie and Elaine along with several cousins and lifelong friends.

Jim was predeceased by his brother in law Raymond Burger and nephew Justin Burger.

Jim loved everything outdoors including farming and hunting.  He also enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.  He had a huge love for animals, especially his dogs.

LeRoy ~ Patricia M. Moore, age 73, passed away Friday evening (Sept. 10, 2021) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

    

 She was born April 8, 1948 in Buffalo, a daughter of the late Anthony and Margaret Tolan Feldman.

     Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who was devoted to her family and to her community.  She was very involved with the ladies auxiliary of the American Legion, where she served as secretary and volunteered at the LeRoy Food Pantry.

     She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, David Moore; her sons, Steve Moore (Valerie Joslin) of LeRoy and Tim Moore of Geneseo; grandchildren, Alyssa Moore (Chelsey Merlino), Zachary Moore and Kelsey Moore; sister-in-law, GeorgAnn Feldman of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cindy (Henry) Oches of Batavia, along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

     She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas “Tom” Feldman in 2020.

Batavia - Jacqulyn M. Jones, 50 of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, (August 14, 2021) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

Ms. Jones was born May 7, 1971 in Ogdensburg, a daughter of the late Mary R. Jones.

Jackie attended the ARC of Genesee-Orleans Day Hab and was a member of the Northgate Free Methodist Church Friendship Class. She loved her family, especially her mom, and enjoyed all kinds of music, crafts, and dancing. Always the life of the party, she liked to socialize with friends often leaving a room and then coming back proclaiming "I'm Back!!!." Jackie truly loved to go grocery shopping, she was kind, and very brave.

She is free at last to delight in the joys of Heaven and enjoy fellowship with many loved ones already there.

Jacqulyn is survived by her brothers, Lee (Emily), Joshua, and Sheldon; a niece, Maggie; a nephew, "Baby" Lee; her Aunt Donna, Aunt Sharon and Uncle Carter, Aunt Debbie, and Aunt Bonnie; cousins, Chrissy, Adam, James, Karen, John, Amy, Becky, Candy, Katie, and Leon.

She is preceded in death by her mother, uncle, Carl Jones; aunt, Brandi Syfrit; cousin Michael Donovan; and good friend, Jason Tinklepaugh.

Patrick Marone passed away peacefully at Highland Hospital, Rochester NY, on September 3rd 2021.

Pat was born on Easter Sunday (April 12th) 1925 and was known as Pasquale to his family and friends. He was the youngest boy and 11th of 12 children born to Rosaria and Domenico Marrone. His parents were both born in 1884 in Vasto Marina, Chieti, Italia.

Patrick grew up in Batavia, NY as a devout Catholic. His father was a mason and railroad worker and Pat inherited a strong work ethic and austere style of life –so he was always quick to ensure that his nickels were safe and spent wisely!

Pat attended Batavia High school and was a standout athlete in football, baseball, soccer, basketball and track. The local newspapers were fond of calling him the 'diminutive fullback' and although he was only 5' 7" he often led the basketball team in scoring.  He graduated high school in 1943 and, like his older brothers, enlisted in the Navy. Based on his excellent school grades he was sent to radioman school in Sampson, NY. He left Sampson in April of '44 and deployed to the Pacific out of San Diego. He served on the USS Farenholt as part of the 12th squadron that included the USS McCalla and Woodworth. He served in the navy until April 1946, becoming a WWII veteran. He earned the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, the American Theater Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Medal 6 stars Victory Medal.

After the war Pat attended SUNY Brockport where he met his future wife Mary Cox. He graduated in January 1950 as one of 5 honors students in a class of 63 graduates, with a BS in Education. Mary and Patrick were married in 1951 and became school teachers in Batavia, NY. During that time Pat worked part time on a graduate degree, earning a MS in Education at SUNY Buffalo in 1952.  He taught in the Greece, NY school district for several years.

Pat left teaching in 1974, moved to Florida and became a club pro golfer. He was a scratch golfer for 20+ years and won several local tournaments including the 9th annual ALS Celebrity Golf Classic in 1998.

He will be greatly missed by his partner and dance mate of over 20 years, Lillian Maselli, and her children.  Pat is survived by two sons, Paul (Barb) and Chris (Eliza), and was preceded in death by his son Daniel, his daughter Mary Alice and his brothers and sisters.  He will be missed by his eight grandchildren: Kristy, Brian, and Wendy (Jared) of Rochester NY and Victoria (Marius), Daniel, Linda, Constantino, and Massimo of State College PA. In addition he leaves behind four great granddaughters:  Emily, Erin, Maizie Alice, and Finley Joy.
