John D. “Jaws” Anderson, 71 of Alabama, NY passed away on December 24, 2024 at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital. He was born May 5, 1953 in Johnstown, PA to the late Kenneth E. and Essie (Shetler) Anderson. He is preceded in death by a daughter Melissa Johnson.
John retired from GM in Tonawanda after many years and continued to work at Keeler Construction. He was an avid hunter that loved to be outdoors, camping and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. John was an “Unc” to everyone, always willing to lend a hand and had a special bond with his sister Belinda.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Terri (Wade) Anderson of Alabama, daughter, Michelle (Timothy) Battaglia of Batavia, grandchildren, Isabella and Jacob Battaglia, special great-nephew, Shaun Alexander, siblings, Ken (Joyce) Anderson, Gary (Darlene) Anderson both of Alabama, Belinda (Rick) Cox of East Bethany, Joyce (Wilburn) Archer of Ontario, Canada, Lisa (Dave) Laney of Alabama, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 from 11am to 1pm at Gilmartin Funeral Home, 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. A 1:00pm Celebration of his Life will immediately follow at the Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Alabama Cemetery in the spring.
