Melvin Arthur Kingdom (Mel) of Loveland, CO passed away on July 25, 2024 after several years of fighting Parkinson’s Disease.
He was born on April 21, 1937 to Sophie (Zielinski) and Alfred T. Kingdom in Batavia, New York. He graduated from Oakfield-Alabama High School in Oakfield, New York. Mel married Mary M. Sinclair on August 28, 1954 in Elba, New York. To this union, 4 children were born: Stephan (Marianne), Thomas (Cyndi), Kathryn (Steven) and Michael (Kathleen).
In 1964, Mel went to work for Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester, New York. In 1976, he was transferred to Eastman Kodak Company in Windsor, Colorado. The family moved to Loveland, Colorado where they continued with their activities. These included softball, basketball, bowling, golf and music. Mel was an avid football fan, enjoying the Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills in particular. Mel served for
several years as a volunteer Loveland Reserve Police Officer. He loved to dance and socialize, especially at the Loveland Elks Lodge, where he was a lifetime member.
Mel was also known for his great sense of humor. Mel was active at Mountain View Presbyterian Church where he was a member for 45+ years. He was a youth leader, an officer in the adult group Mariners, sang in the choir and was ordained a deacon and elder. His help was offered wherever needed.
Mel is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, his 4 children and spouses, 6 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren with a great granddaughter on the way, 3 step-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts and cousins. He was predeceased by grandparents, parents, his brother Leonard and wife Barbara, his sister Anne, aunts, uncles, cousins and 2 granddaughters, Jillian T. Kingdom and Jordan J. Kingdom.
Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mountain View Presbyterian Church. Inurnment will be at Mountain View Presbyterian Church Columbarium. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain View Presbyterian Church or Parkinson’s Research in care of Kibbey Fishburn Funeral Home.
