Steve M. Vernaccini

Bergen ~ Steve M. Vernaccini, age 100, of Woodside Drive, passed away early Friday morning (July 19, 2024) at United Memorial Medical Center in Batavia.

     He was born October 16, 1923 in Rock Glen, N.Y., a son of the late Stefano and Petrina Lamitina Vernaccini.

  Steve’s family moved to LeRoy in 1925, where he eventually attended school. Unfortunately, he left school during his Junior year to help support his family.  He was eventually drafted and served his country proudly with the U.S. Army. During his time with the Army during WWII, Steve was stationed in Virginia, California, Hawaii and eventually Iwo Jima.  Upon returning, he married the love of his life, Rose M. Fiorella on June 22, 1946. He went on to work for the LeRoy Machine Shop and retired after a 30 year career. 

     He was a die-hard NY Yankees fan and on October 10. 2023, Steve received his LeRoy Central High School diploma.

     He will be sadly missed by his son, Steve (Linda) Vernaccini; his sister, Josephine Luce, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and two great-great-nephews.

     Steve was predeceased by his loving wife of 47 years, Rose; his siblings, Joe (Tina), Sam (Bea), Frank (Nancy), Florence (Ross) Vinci, brother-in-law, Earl Luce and special friend, Mary Torcello.

     Friends may call from 3:30 ~ 5:00 PM on Thursday, July 25 at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake St. Rd., LeRoy.  His Rite of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 26 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Church, 44 Lake Street, LeRoy.  Private Interment.
