Roanoke Rapids, NC - Harry Martin “Marty” Yaeger Jr., age 78, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, September 27, 2023. Marty was born in Akron NY and was the son of Harry Martin Yaeger Sr and Lillian Kushuba. He lived most of his life in Rochester, NY, and retired to North Carolina in 2019.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years Nancy Pellam Yaeger, children Jennifer Lead (Scott Lead) and Melissa Dettman (Doug Jones). Step-children Kenneth Bauer (Kim Bauer), Anne Schwalbach (William Schwalbach), Marya Murray-Diaz (Carlos Diaz Picasso), and Byron Murray, III. Grandchildren Emily Doherty, Megan Doherty, Jacob Dettman, Sarah Lis, and Zachary Dettman. Brian Bauer, Heather Bly, Christopher Bauer, Troy Schwalbach, Alexander Bauer, Joshua Murray, Selena Morales, Lucia Diaz, Gabriel Murray, and Carlos Diaz.
Great grandchildren Marshall, Isabella, Jaxon, Theodore, Winston, Rosalyn, Owen, Liam, and Saint.
Marty was an architectural engineer who was fundamental in the execution of many major construction projects, primarily in Western New York. He was also a history and trivia aficionado who loved sharing his appreciation of military aircraft and history with his loved ones. Marty made incredible homemade bread, buffalo-style chicken wings, and barbeque ribs. He loved talking politics, cracking jokes, being a stickler for game rules, loading the dishwasher just right, and turning his backyard into Shangri-la. He will be truly missed by his loved ones.
A memorial service to celebrate Marty’s life will be held Saturday, October 7, 2023 at 2:00 pm at Wrenn Funeral Home, 1015 W 5th Street, Roanoke Rapids, NC 27870.
