Nick graduated from Lancaster High School in 1998 and joined the Genesee County Sheriff’s Department as a Corrections Officer some five years ago. He loved his job and his co-workers, Nick was always first in and last out, he simply had your back when trouble came around, giving him the respect of his peers. Nick was “Loud” & “Sassy”, you knew when he walked into a room, but he was compassionate and had a soft side as well. He enjoyed the outdoors, his Harley, cuddling with Bobbie Jo, camping, hunting with Jacob for hours and fishing with his sweet Riley.
Along with his parents Nick is survived by his dearest Cherie (Roman) whom he married in 2010; children, Riley Bender and Jacob Miller at home, Bobbie Jo (Adam) Hill of Pembroke and Brandon Bender of Newark, NY; father & mother-in-law, Mathew (Frances) Roman, Jr. of Corfu; maternal grandmother, Dorothy Coles of Buffalo; paternal grandmother, Joan Bender of Depew; godparents, Robin Mutka and Richard Bender along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.
