Veronica “Ronnie” was the oldest of eleven children with 7 sisters and 3 brothers, the Matriarch of the family. She was like a mother to many of her siblings and to a special nephew, Charles Schiavi. A business woman in Batavia for many years, her first beauty shop was above the JJ Newberry building on Main Street. She started in her early twenties and continued well into her seventies as it evolved into various business enterprises during her career including owning and operating the Triangle Motel and the Town Manor Motel with her husband Joseph. Ronnie was on the board of the Zonta Club, an organization with the mission of advancing the status of women. She was a lifetime member of St. Anthony’s Church. Veronica will be sorely missed by her family and all those who knew her.
Mrs. George is survived by her sisters Rose DiLaura, Lorraine Hoffmaster and Loretta Lamendola; along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street, Batavia, New York 14020. A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Ascension Parish, 19 Sumner Street, Batavia, NY 14020. She will be laid to rest in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Batavia.
