Mr. Muehlig served honorably with the US Coast Guard during the Vietnam War. Roger may be most remembered locally as a journalist for 42 years with the Batavia Daily News where he was well respected by his peers. A genuine, fair man who was very proud of being left-handed, was a life-long Chicago Cubs fan who finally saw them win the 2016 World Series for the first time. To his family he was a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, caring son, brother and devoted friend to all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna (Scheuing) Muehlig of Batavia; children, Mitchell (Vanessa) Muehlig of Batavia, Brittany Walker of Webster, Drew (Erika) Muehlig of Elba; his grandchildren, Madison, Aiden, Caden, Kalen, Lily, Liam; brothers, Gary (Carol) Muehlig of Pavilion, Jack Muehlig of SC; sister-in-law, Sharon Cone of Wyoming along with several nieces and nephews.
The Muehlig family will be present from 4-7pm on Thursday February 21, 2019 at the MICHAEL S. TOMASZESKI FUNERAL & CREMATION CHAPEL, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020, where prayers will be recited 10:45am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial 11:30am Friday February 22 at Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph’s Site) along with Military Honors, he will be laid to rest in St. Francis Cemetery, LeRoy, NY.
