Doris Merrill

Doris Merrill, 100, of Batavia passed away on Saturday December 15, 2018 at the Premier Genesee Nursing Facility. She was born on December 1, 1918 in Attica to the late Walter and Viola (Beaver) Mengs. In addition to her parents, Doris is predeceased by her loving husband; Gordon Merrill; son Douglas Merrill; siblings Jerry, Gubb, Howard and Dottie.

Doris worked for many years at GTE Sylvania, Inc. in Batavia. She was a long time member at the First United Methodist Church in Batavia. Doris loved painting, crocheting, crafts, gardening, golf, and music, especially Lawrence Welk.

She is survived by her son; Ron (Cathy Vannelli) Merrill of Tampa, FL., brother Les (Rita) Mengs of Elba; Grandchildren Ronnie (Katie) Merrill of Tampa, Stephanie (Jim) Minier of VA., Amy(Jeff) Ryckman of SC., Shelley Ivester of SC., Robyn(Manfred) Grell of GA; 9 great- grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends are invited to call on Thursday December 20, 2018 from 4:00-7:00PM at Gilmartin Funeral Home & Cremation Company, Inc. 329-333 West Main Street Batavia, New York 14020. An 11:00AM Funeral Service will be held on Friday December 21^st at the First United Methodist Church 8221 Lewiston Rd. in Batavia. She will be laid to rest in Grandview Cemetery in Batavia.
