Blanche M. Casper

Blanche M. Casper, 98 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Sunday (October 28, 2018) at Premier Genesee Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born in Woodchester, England, a daughter of the late Arthur and Nathalie Brun Walker. In England, she attended finishing school as a dressmaker and seamstress and was also employed as a planning clerk for the international company of Newman Henders.

Mrs. Casper and her husband, Emery, met in England in 1943 during World War II and were married in March of 1945. After moving to America, they raised six children while she worked for Sylvania and Eastman Kodak Distribution until retiring in 1982.

Blanche and Emery were parishioners of Resurrection Parish (St. Joseph Church) since 1947. Their strong faith and dedication to the church emanated in many capacities. They both were gardeners for the church for several years, attended daily Mass and led the Rosary of Our Lady of Fatima. Blanche and Emery were awarded “The Lay Award of St. Joseph” from Bishop Kmiec in 2006. Most of all, she enjoyed her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her caring heart.

She was predeceased by a son, Jerome Casper; daughter, Aileen Casper and three brothers and a sister.

Blanche is survived by her husband of over 73 years, Emery J. Casper of Batavia. Daughters, Monica Casper of Batavia and Valerie (Kenneth) Foxx of Romulus, NY. Sons, Maurice Casper of Florida and Roy Casper of Clifton Park, NY. Also survived by seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Monday (November 5th) from 10:00am – 11:30am at the J. LEONARD MCANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA, NY, where prayers will be recited at 11:30am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00pm at Resurrection Parish, 303 E. Main St., Batavia. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.
