Franklin B. Smith

Franklin B. Smith, 87 of Batavia, passed away peacefully on Friday (September 28, 2018) at the New York State Veterans Home.

He was born October 18, 1930 in Syracuse, NY, a son of the late Ralph and Mabel Colvin Smith.

Franklin was formerly employed by Graham Manufacturing prior to his retirement. He served our country during the Korean War with the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He was a member of the Town of Batavia Fire Department.  Fixing and repairing homes was a hobby of his. Some would say he could fix anything and was never afraid to tackle a difficult project. He enjoyed bow hunting, fishing and playing bingo. Most of all, he will be missed by all who loved and knew him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Janice Dibble Smith of Batavia. Son, Michael (Laura) Smith of Batavia. Daughters, Debra (Earl) Klehn of Oakfield, Brenda (Mark) Platten of Batavia, Linda (David Riley) Smith of Batavia and Pamela (Ron Olson) Smith of Oakfield.  Also survived by 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Robert L. Smith Sr., Albert Smith and Lorraine Donahue.

Family and friends are cordially invited to share thoughts, condolences and fond memories on Tuesday (Oct. 2nd) from 4-8pm at the J. LEONARD McANDREW FUNERAL HOME, LLC, 2 BOGUE AVE., BATAVIA, where full military honors will occur at the conclusion of visitation. Burial will be in the Byron Cemetery.
