Roger Alyn Paddock

Roger Alyn Paddock of Perry, NY went home to be with the Lord on June 28, 2018 at the age of 84. He was born on 2/26/34 to Earle and Irene Coon Paddock. His birth took place in Nunda, NY in his Grandparent’s home during a blizzard that paralyzed travel for weeks. He was later joined by a brother, Frank (Emma) Paddock of Pavilion, a sister Viva (Jim) Phillips Richardson of Wyoming, a brother Kurt (Lyn) Paddock of Fayetteville and a sister-in-law Ginny (Dwight) Paddock Gay of Warsaw.  Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by a son: Bradley Roger Paddock who passed away in 2015.

Roger was always ambitious! He worked at local farms while attending and graduating from Perry High School. He then went on to join the Army, serving in the 26th infantry know as “The Big Red One” in Germany. Following the service he started Paddock’s Breeding Service in 1957, working as an artificial inseminator of dairy cattle. He then married his beautiful bride, the love of his life, Brenda Buckland in 1958. This past April they celebrated 60 years of marriage! Roger then went on to start a teenage night club, The Sandsabarn; open a travel agency, Serendipity Travel; operate the Perry Movie Theater; and co-own Perry Speedway with his lifelong friend Donald Butler. He was a member of the First Congregational Church in Perry Center, Perry Rotary Club for 58 years, and served as a Councilman for the Perry Town Board for 32 years. Roger’s favorite hobby was working and starting new endeavors, along with traveling.

Roger had five children: Don (Daelene) Paddock of Perry, Jody (Tim) Von Sanden of Pavilion, Bradley (Jean) Paddock of Warsaw, Jennifer (Paul) Guy of Foxboro, MA and Nathan (Jill) Paddock of Perry. He had 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews and friends.

There will be no prior calling hours. A 6:00PM Funeral Service will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Perry High School auditorium. He will be laid to rest in West Perry Cemetery at 10:00am the following day.
