
Don was a graduate of Pavilion Central High School. He was a self employed farmer and retired as a heavy equipment operator for Retsof Salt Mine. He was an active member of the Covington United Methodist Church in Covington where he was a member of the board and was one of the first 20 members of the Geneseo War Museum in Geneseo. He was the former sexton of Mt. Ash Cemetery in Covington. He was a pilot who enjoyed flying his Cessna plane and once flew the famous “Memphis Belle” and loved his pet the late “Tinker”.
He is survived by five daughters: Sandra M. (Richard) Konarski of Rochester, Debra R. “Debby” (Fred) VanScott of Rochester, Melinda F.”Mindie ” DeLaVergne of Leicester, Laurel L. “Laurie” (Michael) Hamler Sr. of Leicester and Donna Jo (Glenn) White of Mt. Morris, a brother: Richard (Margaret) DeLaVergne of W. VA., 13 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call from 5:00-7:00PM on Friday, August 11, 2017 at Eaton-Watson Funeral Home, LLC. 98 North Main St. in Perry. Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, August 13th at 1:00pm at the Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest in Mt. Ash Cemetery in Covington, NY.
