Lois A. Boorom

Byron – Lois A. Boorom, 86, of Byron, passed away Monday, (January 21, 2013) at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center, in Myrtle Beach, following a brief illness.

Mrs. Boorom was born March 7, 1926 in Batavia, a daughter of the late Clyde and Ruth E. (Stone) Ray.

She was a kindergarten teacher at Byron – Bergen School for many years, having retired in 1984.  Lois was a longtime member of the Byron Presbyterian Church, and loved arts and crafts.  She greatly enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren; and never missed one of their sporting events.  She and her husband took pleasure in wintering in Myrtle Beach, having done so for at least 30 years.

Lois is survived by her beloved husband of 65 years, James A. Boorom, her children, Michael Boorom of Batavia, Denise Boorom of Rochester, and Susan (Frank) Chittenden of Corfu; grandchildren, Zachary, Cody and Wyatt Chittenden, all of Corfu, Madison and Emily Boorom, both of Rochester; her sister Joyce (Frank) Lund of Batavia.  Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Friends may call on Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at H.E. Turner & Co. Funeral Home, 403 East Main Street, Batavia, where Lois’ Funeral Service will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, (January 29, 2013 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to be distributed to Lois' favorite charities.  Burial will be in Grand View Cemetery, Batavia.  Please light a candle, share a story, or leave a condolence at www.bataviafuneralhomes.com.
