Melissa Ellen Quigley, 30, of 6535 Main Road, Stafford, is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle, operating a snowmobile while intoxicated and operating a snowmobile without a helmet. Quigley was arrested at 1:45 this morning by Deputy Frank Bordonaro on the listed charges.

Craig M. Meyer, 24, of 6611 Albion Road, Oakfield, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and aggravated unlicensed operation. Meyer was stopped by Deputy Tim Wescott for allegedly driving 78 mph in a 55 mph zone on Route 63 in the Town of Batavia on Wednesday.

Cory R. Markidis, 20, of 2 Beechwood St., Rochester, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and unlicensed operation. Markidis was stopped by Deputy Matthew Butler on Route 33, Town of Stafford on Jan. 3.

A 17-year-old resident of Oakfield is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. The youth was arrested at his home after allegedly being found in possession of a small quantity of marijuana.

A 17-year-old from Alexander is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. The youth was arrested by State Police on Jan. 6. No further details available.

Jeffery R. Muntz, 26, of Bergen, is charged with aggravated unlicensed operation and false personation. Muntz was arrested by State Police at 3:10 p.m. Tuesday on Irving Parkway in Oakfield. He was jailed on an unspecified bail amount.

2:55 p.m., Jan. 12, Brown Road, Town of Batavia, two vehicles; Driver 1: Timothy M. Zielinski, 40, of Attica; Driver 2: James J. Diabo, 59, of Batavia. No injuries.

3:59 p.m., Jan 12, Byron Holley Townline Road, Byron, one vehicle; Driver 1: Racheal J. Millspaugh, 26, of Bergen. No injuries.

Kerry Hoffmann, the 27-year-old former band teacher from Oakfield-Alabama accused of sexually abusing a student, will take his case to trial, according to his attorney.

Hoffman appeared in Oakfield Town Court this evening to set a trial date.

"People will be surprised," said his attorney, Thomas D. Calandra. "We will be bringing up issues that will surprise people."

Hoffman turned down a plea offer this evening, according to Assistant District Attorney Kevin Finnell.

"We talked about a plea, but it didn't come to fruition," Finnell said. "I don't know how close it was, but it was being considered up until tonight and then it was rejected."

Hoffman has until 24 hours before the scheduled trial date, 9:30 a.m. March 23, to accept any plea offer.

All six charges against Hoffman, five counts of sexual abuse and one count of endangering the welfare of a child, are misdemeanors.

UPDATE: 13WHAM reporter Sean Carroll says that Finnell told him Hoffman faces a 7th charge -- this one, official misconduct.

An accident with injuries has been reported in the area of 2687 Judge Road, Oakfield.

UPDATE 4:36 p.m.: A first responder, likely law enforcement, reports no injuries and suggested that Oakfield Fire not respond because of road conditions.

I was in Oakfield yesterday and walked past this red fire hydrant in a vacant lot of snow and thought -- I should take a picture of that, so I did.

It was showtime last night at Oakfield-Alabama High School and the Drama Club was ready to shine for the community. And it did.

The teens have been preparing to perform two plays since October, putting in two-hours days until recently when they started practing three to four hours a day. The plays lasted around two and a half hours with two brief intermissions in between acts.

The first one was about the first Thanksgiving, from the point of view of a young man named Dwayne, who had not done his homework the previous night. Due to his lack of studying, Duane's understanding of the first Thanksgiving was a little skewed.

He was not prepared when his teacher called on him to give a synopsis of that celebrated mealtime. In Dwayne's eyes, the Salem witch trials took place at the same time as the first Thanksgiving. He also believed football was invented by the pilgrim men as a way for them to relax and be lazy while the women did all the work. In the end, Dwayne's teacher got so fed up with his inaccuracies she asked him to stop.

The second play was about the Brookshire family's annual Christmas letter. Mrs. Brookshire asked her family to help her write it but they declined for various reasons and excuses. So she gave up and decided to write it herself.

We then got a glimpse of the big events that happened during the year as she wrote them down in her letter. In the end, the rest of the family realized how important writing the letter was to Mrs. Brookshire, and they helped her finish it.

Gerald C. Rosario, 45, of Oakfield, is charged with grand larceny in the fourth degree for allegedly stealing a credit card. Rosario was arrested by State Police on Wednesday in Albion at 11:48 a.m. He was issued an appearance ticket. No further details are available

Tiffany Joy Howard, 19, of 5049 E. Main St., rear, Batavia, is charged with harassment. Howard is accused of being verbally abusive and making physical threats to another person over a period of time.

Michael B. Marchese, 48, of Stafford, is charged with criminal contempt. Marchese was arrested by State Police in the Town of Batavia on Wednesday at 8:31 p.m. He was released on an appearance ticket. No further details available.

UPDATED: The following reports came in just after I posted the initial Police Beat.

Ronald K. Nobles, 65, of 74 Thistlewood Lane, Spencerport, is charged with DWI, aggravated DWI and failure to keep right. During the investigation of another car accident at 9:25 last night on Gulf Road in the Town of Le Roy, Nobles allegedly drove his car off the right shoulder and struck a utility pole. Upon further investigation by Deputy M.R. Butler, it was determined that Nobles was allegedly driving drunk. He was issued an appearance ticket.

Steven M. Binder, 20, of 9364 Creek Road, Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt, 2nd degree. Binder is reportedly the subject of an order of protection requiring him to stay away from GCC, where his ex-girlfriend attends classes. On Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., Binder was allegedly found on campus.

John A. Bilodeau-Redeye, 57, of 493 Bloomingdale Road, Akron, is charged with assault, 2nd degree and menacing in the second. Bilodeau-Redeye reportedly became involved in an argument with his wife over their dogs. Bilodeau-Redeye allegedly struck his wife with a cane and then grabbed a pistol and a shovel. Bilodeau-Redeye then allegedly struck his wife with the shovel while holding the pistol. The incident was investigated by Deputy Kevin McCarthy.

Michael J. Lopez, 26, of 7 Chestnut St., Apt. 3, Batavia, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, aggravated unlicensed operation and unsafe lane change. Jose Juan Santiago-Burgos, 21, of 8029 Telephone Road, Le Roy, is charged with criminal possession of a weapon, 4th; and, Derrick J. Krager, 19, of 32 N. Lyon St., lower, Batavia, is charged with disorderly conduct. Lopez was stopped by Officer Dan Coffey on Sunday at 9:37 p.m. for an alleged unsafe lane change. Officer Matthew Baldwin assisted. During the stop, the officers reportedly found Santiago-Burgos in possession of brass knuckles. As for Krager, he allegedly became upset with the police during the traffic stop and punched the car.

Sean J. Allen, 21, of Buffalo, is charged with DWI, refusal and assault, 3rd degree. Allen was arrested after Trooper Tim Ferris observed an apparently disabled blue sedan on Route 33 on Thursday. When he approached the vehicle, he reportedly found a man sleeping in the driver's seat. The woman in the passenger seat claimed the driver, Allen, had punched her in the face. Allen was jailed on $1,500 bail.

Jesse Alvin Russell, 20, of 33 Williams St., upper, Batavia, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and possession/consumption of alcohol, under 21. Russell was stopped on Route 98 in the Town of Alexander by Deputy Patrick Reeves. He reported finding marijuana in Russell's vehicle.

Curtis M. James, 29, of 107 Watson St., Batavia, is charged with DWI, consuming alcohol in a vehicle and failure to dim headlines. James was stopped on Ellicott Street by Officer Thad Mart on Sunday at 2:35 a.m.

Frank R. Oneil, 61, of 3591 Maltby Road, Oakfield, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and improper tail lights. Oneil was stopped by Officer E.E. Bolles on Sunday at 3 a.m. on W. Main Street.

Jeffrey Allen Hoag, 40, of 2058 Black Street Road, Pavilion, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and moving from lane unsafely. Hoag was charged after his car reportedly struck a tree at 7550 Route 20 in Pavilion.

David M. Bohn, 34, of 8069 Kelsey Road, Batavia, is charged with DWI, failure to keep right, operating with a suspended registration and leaving the scene of a property damage accident. On Thursday, the Sheriff's Office received a report of a two-vehicle accident at 3298 Pratt Road. One pickup truck reportedly sideswiped another and knocked off its side mirror. The suspect vehicle reportedly failed to stop. Shortly after the report of the accident, Deputy Patrick Reeves located the suspect vehicle and arrested Bohn on suspected DWI.

Alexis Anne Czaja, 27, of 60 Drake St., Oakfield, is charged with disorderly conduct. Czaja was taken into custody in Batavia on a bench warrant for failure to appear on the disorderly conduct charge.

Rolando Garcia-Perez, 38, of 15 West Ave., Elba, is charged with illegal entry into the United States. Garcia-Perez was arrested and turned over to the Border Patrol following a one-car accident on Monday at 6:54 a.m.

Derrick W. Jackson, 22, of Oakfield, is charged with menacing in the 3rd degree, criminal mischief, harassment, aggravated harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. Jackson was arrested by State Police on Sunday at 1:51 a.m. No further details provided.

Oakfield and Town of Batavia fire departments are being dispatched to 33 Sunset Parkway for the report of a trailer filling with smoke and a possible electrical fire in a wall.

East Pembroke and Alabama fire are on standby.

The sun is out in Oakfield, at least for now.

Clifford Leo Regimbal, 31, of 30 S. Main St., Oakfield, is charged with criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana. Regimbal is accused pulling a phone box from the wall outside 36 South Pearl St., Oakfield. Regimbal allegedly possessed marijuana at the time of his arrest. He was jailed on $500 bail.

Amber Fallon Waleski, 22, of 30 S. Main St., Oakfield, is charged with assault in the second degree. While at 36 South Pearl St., Oakfield, Waleski allegedly struck another person in the head with a bear bottle, causing a cut. She was jailed on $500 bail.

Howard M. DeCarlis, 52, of 415 Ellicott St., upper, Batavia, is charged with assault in the third degree. DeCarlis allegedly punched his girlfriend in the face several times during an argument. She was treated and released at UMMC. DeCarlis was jailed on $1,500 bail.

Jacob J. Camerera, 18, of 335 S. Jackson St., Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt and unlawful possession of marijuana. Camerera allegedly violated an order of protection by sending text messages to a woman he was ordered not to contact. At the time of his arrest, he was allegedly found to possess marijuana. Camerera was jailed on $750 bail.

Patrick R. McFadden, 25, of Batavia, is charged with criminal mischief. McFadden was allegedly involved in an incident at Kmart.

David W. King, 52, of Batavia, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was arrested in Bergen.

Jason John Reed, 33, of 33 Sunset Parkway, Oakfield, is charged with felony DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, aggravated unlicensed operation and endangering the welfare of a child. Reed was stopped at 2:06 a.m. Thursday near 18 Coe Ave. in Oakfield by Deputy Jason Saile.

Tersa M. Kabel, 36, of Batavia was stopped by State Police on Route 33 in Bergen, Thursday at 11:29 a.m. and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and aggravated unlicensed operation.

Daniel P. Callahan, 25, of Batavia, is charged by State Police with unlawful possession of marijuana. Callahan was arrested this morning at 12:10 in Batavia.

Leon C. Bloom, 27, no permanent address, has been jailed on $50,000 bail for allegedly failing to abide by drug court rules.  In May, Bloom was arrested for allegedly violating an order of protection.

Timothy Daniel Eastridge, 32, of 30 Bennett Ave., Oakfield, is charged with criminal possession of stolen property, aggravated unlicensed operation, DWI, criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana. Eastridge is accused of driving a stolen vehicle into a fence and tree near Alex's Place on Park Road, and then driving to the Batavia Downs parking lot, where he parked the car. Witnesses helped police find the car, and Eastridge was allegedly seen exiting the car. Eastridge was taken into custody by Deputy Chris Parker. The deputy reportedly found a marijuana pipe on Eastridge. The car was reportedly stolen from an area near Faletti's Ice Rink on Evans Street a short time earlier. Batavia Police assisted in the arrest.

Patricia A. Poole, 20, of 4036 W. Main Street Road, Batavia, is charged with petit larceny. Poole allegedly stole an item from Hess Mart on Nov. 8. She was jailed on $250 bail.

Brian J. Lambert, 28, of 120 State St., Upper, Batavia, is charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle in the third degree. Lambert was stopped in the Town of Alexander by Deputy Chris Parker after Lambert reportedly failed to return the vehicle of his mother's boyfriend as agreed.

Lonnie J. Hamilton, 22, of 14776 Baker Road, Kent, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and failure to keep right. Hamilton was stopped on Route 98 in the Town of Batavia by Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello for alleged failure to keep right. Sgt. Sanfratello concluded that Hamiliton was allegedly driving drunk.

Scott Joseph Richardson, 20, of 5 Lakewood Drive, Rochester, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Richardson was reportedly the passenger in a car stopped for an alleged traffic violation by Deputy Patrick Reeves. Reeves reportedly found marijuana on Richardson.

Donald J. Monroe, 46, of 580 Cohocton Road, Corfu, is charged with DWI, and aggravated DWI with a BAC of .08 or greater. Deputy Patrick Reeves responded to the area of Cohocton Road in Pembroke after the Sheriff's Office received a report of a drunk or sick driver. He subsequently pulled over Monroe's vehicle and charged him with DWI.

Jonathan Scott Viterise, 21, of 75 Stone Fence Road, Rochester, is charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Viterise was reportedly the passenger in a car stopped for an alleged traffic violation by Deputy Patrick Reeves. Reeves reportedly found marijuana on Viterise.

Richard Dale Fennell, 29, of 5 Exchange St., Akron, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Fennell was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle stopped by Deputy Patrick Reeves that was stopped for an alleged traffic violation. Reeves reportedly found a medication on Fennell for which he didn't have a prescription.

Gerald "Zach" Z.L. Watts, 25, of 5 Otis St., Batavia, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and failure to keep right. Watts was reportedly stopped on S. Lyon Street in Batavia by Sgt. Thomas Sanfratello of the Sheriff's Office for alleged failure to keep right.

Brett R. Doward, 23, of 16 Harvester Ave., Batavia, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater and driving on the shoulder. Doward was reportedly stopped by Deputy Howard Carlson on Route 33 in Stafford.

Richard D. Ryan, 33, of 136 Pearl St., Batavia, is charged with criminal mischief. Ryan allegedly damaged furniture of his ex-girlfriend, valued at $250. He was jailed without bail.

Thomas K. Lee, 46, of 4 MacArthur Drive, Apt. 10, Batavia, is charged with two felony counts of criminal contempt and three counts of harassment. Lee allegedly violated an order of protection. The harassment charges stem from alleged actions toward the protected person, and the third count stems from alleged actions toward a probation officer. Lee was jailed without bail.

David P. Schlitz, Jr., 45, of 112 Howard Road, Batavia, is charged with DWI and refusal to take a breath test. Schlitz was reportedly stopped on Clinton Street by Officer Thad Mart after a caller provided the license plate number of a vehicle allegedly driven by a drunken driver.

A 16-year-old from Bergen is charged with harassment. The girl was reportedly involved in a domestic argument. She was jailed on $250 bail.

Christopher P. Clute, 30, of Middleport, is charged with auto stripping, third degree. Clute was arrested by State Police at 6566 Dysinger Road in Alabama.  He was issued an appearance ticket.

Michael L. Jackson -- who is charged with a count of burglary in the third degree, two counts of grand larceny in the third degree, and two counts criminal mischief in the second degree -- was back in Genesee County Superior Court this morning.

He appeared before Judge Robert Noonan, who set a hearing for his case at 10 a.m. on Nov. 18.

Jackson, who lives in Oakfield, is accused breaking into Holland High Lift, 10033 East Road, Bethany. He allegedly stole a 42-inch Viewsonic flatscreen television, a Samsung 22-inch flatscreen television and a Sony digital camera. He also allegedly stole a 2005 Ford Supercab 250.

Jackson also allegedly damaged an office window, a display case, light fixtures, drywall, a motorcycle, computer equipment and an overhead door. He also allegedly damaged the Ford truck. He was one of a group of people alleged to have committed the crimes, although no others have been arrested due to insufficient evidence.

He is also accused of tampering with a witness in the fourth degree after he allegedly went to the home of one of the witnesses and attempted to induce her not to testify before the Grand Jury.

On Sept. 3, Jackson posted a $10,000 bond and is now free awaiting trial.

Fire crews are responding to a report of a grain bin fire at 2947 Batavia-Oakfield Townline Road, between Hutton Road and South Pearl Street. Other structures are nearby the fire.

Tankers have been requested from East Pembroke and Alabama.

UPDATE: East Pembroke's tanker is asked to respond in a non-emergency capacity. Alabama has been asked to stand down.

UPDATE (2:03 p.m.): Fire is out.

Anthonly J. Spearance, 24, of 107 Washington Ave., Batavia, is charged with disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment. Spearance allegedly punched his pregnant girlfriend in the stomach. He was jailed on $1,500 bail.

James T. Moore, 50, of 115 Summit St., Batavia, and Patricia L. Brinkman, 48, of the same address, are both charged with assault in the third degree. Both were allegedly involved in a physical altercation during a domestic dispute. Both were jailed on $500 bail each.

Christopher C. Say, 18, of 514 E. Main St., Batavia, is charged with menacing. Say allegedly brandished a large knife and threatened another person with it during a fight. He was jailed on $1,000 bail.

Jeremy A. Weatherbee, 40, of 65 Roosevelt Ave., Batavia, is charged with criminal contempt. Weatherbee allegedly sent text messages to a person he was barred by court order from contacting.

Amanda L. Spring, 26, of 34 Walnut St., Batavia, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .08 or greater, refusal to take breath test and unsafe turn without signal. Spring was stopped on Walnut Street at 3:03 a.m. on Sunday.

Kara M. Marquez-Davidson, 24, of Tonawanda, is charged with DWI and driving with a BAC of .08 or greater. Marquez-Davidson was stopped by State Police on Route 77 in Darien at 9:42 p.m. on Friday.

Mark S. Wells, 44, of Oakfield, is charged with DWI and driving with a BAC of .08 or greater. Wells was stopped by State Police on Route 5 in Pembroke at 2 a.m. on Thursday.

A 15-year-old from Oakfield has been arrested by State Police and charged with sexual abuse of a person under 14 and endangering the welfare of a child. The alleged incident was reported Oct. 10. The teen was taken into custody at 6:04 p.m. Friday. No further details were released.

With Oakfield-Alabama and Cal-Mum trading scores through the first three quarters of their quarterfinal sectional playoff game tonight, and both teams seemingly able to run the ball at will, it became evident as the fourth quarter started that the winner would be decided when one defense or the other made a stand and stopped a drive.

And that's exactly what happened.

On its first drive of the fourth quarter, the Hornets couldn't get past the Red Raiders 40 yard line and Cal-Mum took over on downs.

Minutes later, the Red Raiders were in the end zone and with a two-point conversion, and obtained what would prove to be an insurmountable lead, 30-21.

The Hornets would score one more touchdown, but fall short by two points, 30-28.

"It came down to them just pounding the ball at us and not getting away from what they do best," said Hornets Head Coach Brian Palone after the game. "They made the plays when they needed to make the plays."

The two-point margin can also be explained by two failed point after attempts. In the second quarter, kicker Jon Fisher hit an upright, and in the third quarter, a high snap spoiled the attempt.

The Hornets got off to a quick start when Fisher placed a perfect onside kick down the far sideline and OA scrambled and took possession of the ball.

The offense then marched the ball 45-yards down the field for a score and a 7-0 lead. Matt Osmancickli scored that TD on a one-yard run.

But the home team answered right back, bringing the ball down to the one-yard line, where Trevor Haut was able to shove his way into the endzone. Cal-Mum tried for a two-point conversion, so the score was 7-6.

On its first possession of the second quarter, OA again looked like an offense with an unbeatable run game, taking the ball down the field until Matt Osmancickli capped the drive with a one-yard TD rush. After Fisher missed the PA, OA's lead was 13-6

Cal-Mum answered right back, putting a long drive together that ended with a Trevor Haut three-yard TD run. Jon Cappotelli carried the ball in on the two-point conversion, giving his team a one-point lead, 14-13.

OA grabbed back a one-point margin when a high snap on a Cal-Mum punt attempt was kicked out of the back of the end zone for a safety. That made the score 15-14 Hornets.

Both teams scored again in the third quarter. But with a muffed extra point attempt and a successful two-point conversion, Cal-Mum was able to convert another two-point try, so now the Raiders were up 22-21.

The Raiders were able to stop Oakfield-Alabama on its fourth-quarter drive and immediately answer back with another touch down. This time it was on a 19-yard pass from Mike Anderson to Dan Whiteside, plus they tacked on two-more points. The Hornets found themselves in a bit of a deep hole, down 30-21.

But OA kept fighting, engineering another drive that culminated in a one-yard rush by Osmancickli and an extra point from Fisher, making it 30-28, which is how the game would end.

The Hornets got off to a slow start this season with Coach Palone taking over the program for the first time and finding himself with few returning seniors. Palone and other coaches around the league will tell you that OA has been a team that has improved greatly every week as the season progressed.

Palone said tonight he's proud of the progress his team has made.

"I thought this was the best game we played all year and that’s all I can ask of them, to just get better every game," Palone said.
