Charles R. O’Geen Jr, 75 of Batavia, passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024 at United Memorial Medical Center. He was born November 16, 1949 to the late Charles R. and Lena (Rossi) O’Geen Sr. He is preceded in death by a sister, Angela McCall.
Charlie was a 1968 graduate of Leroy High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in management from the Rochester Institute of Technology in 1982. He also served in the U.S. Army and had two tours of duty in Vietnam in 1970 and 1971.
He met his loving and dedicated wife in April 1972 and celebrated 49 years of marriage this year. In that time, they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories.
Charlie worked at Lapp Insulator and PCORE Electric in Le Roy for 47 years.
Charlie was a dedicated member of the veteran community. He participated in many local parades, ceremonies, and as part of the local Joint Veteran Honor Guard detail.
Hockey was another passion of his. He was one of the founding members of the Batavia Men's Hockey League in 1979. He was an active player and coach in the league for over 40 years.
Charlie's hobbies included softball and fishing, especially with his wife and granddaughters. He was a proud grandfather and loved attending his granddaughters’ concerts and sporting events. He also loved the Raiders and the Yankees, history, crime dramas, vacationing with his family in Florida and making friends pretty much anywhere he went.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Marianne (Wilkosz) O’Geen of Batavia, children, Carrie L. O’Geen of Tonawanda, Brian C. (Naomi) O’Geen of Alexander, sisters, Jeannie (Patti) O’Geen of Batavia, Susan (Robert) Cordaro of Las Vegas, NV, brother-in-law, Steve McCall of Rochester, 4 grandchildren, Alexis, Ava, Brianna and Alyssa, several nieces and nephews, along with many, many, many cousins.
In keeping with the family's wishes, there will be no calling hours. Please use this time to spend with your loved ones this holiday season. A true celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. Friends are invited to a 9:15am Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 2, 2025 at Resurrection Parish, 303 East Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020. He will be laid to rest with Military Honor’s in Western New York National Cemetery, Corfu.
