Barbara J. Maskell, 90 of Batavia, passed away at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester on December 21. 2024. She was born May 10, 1934 in Batavia, to the late Gregson “John” and Helen (Putnam) Thompson. She is preceded in death by two brothers, William and Donald Thompson, grandson William A. Sheron III.
Mom was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Batavia. The church was very important to her. She liked reading, quilting, traveling, garage sales and doubling coupons.
Her friends were very important to her; she kept in touch with them, talked with them on the phone and enjoyed playing cards with them. Mom’s family was most important to her. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and holiday dinners.
She is survived by her beloved children, Curtis J. (Sylvia) Maskell, Karen M. Maskell, Scott R. Maskell, grandchildren, Marissa Sheron, Jeremy (Melissa) Maskell, Jennifer (Jacob) Maskell Hunt, Ian Dries, great-grandchild, Sedona Maskell.
Friends are invited to call on Monday December 30, 2024 from 10-11:00AM at Gilmartin Funeral Home 333 West Main Street, Batavia, NY 14020. An 11:00AM Celebration of her Life will immediately follow at the Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Maple Lawn Cemetery, Elba.
