Lorraine M. Matyjasik, 88 of Basom, passed away peacefully on Tuesday (August 1, 2023) at United Memorial Medical Center.
She was born August 9, 1934 in Brownville, NY, a daughter of the late Francis and Viola (Machajewski) Kwandrans.
Lorraine was employed by the University of Buffalo prior to her retirement. She enjoyed crocheting, baking, watching wrestling and was a fan of the Buffalo Bills. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
She is survived by her children, David (Charlene) Matyjasik of Lockport, Joyce (late Cal) Buchanan of Basom, Doreen (Ken) Matyjasik of Buffalo and Annette (Jim) Richley of Corfu. Son in-law, Ray O’Grady of Canada. Siblings, Florence Szyndel, Effie Kwandrans and Mildren Krawczyk. Sister in-law, Carol Kwandrans. Also survived by several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Matyjasik; son, Larry Matyjasik; daughter, Gloria O’Grady, 2 grandchildren and several brothers and sisters.
Family and friends are invited to share in her Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (August 5th), 10:00am at St. Padre Pio Parish, 56 Maple St., Oakfield, NY. She will be laid to rest with her husband in the Western New York National Cemetery.
