The Batavia Society of Artists is hosting artist Colette Savage from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, at GO ART!, located in the historic Seymour Place building at 201 E. Main St., Batavia.
Savage will demonstrate how she gets a "sunset glow" in her artwork using pastels.
Non-members are welcome for a $5 fee.
About Colette Savage
This award-winning artist is a native of Rochester whose love of the area in which she grew up is reflected in the art she produces. A lifelong artist, Savage has been an en plein air landscape painter for 13 years, painting on location in and around Monroe County. Most of her work is done in pastel.
She received her bachelor's degree from SUNY College at Brockport. She feels her greatest education has come from frequently working on location where the challenge to produce a finished painting before the light has changed has taught her to work faster, more accurately and efficiently.
Savage is a member of Suburban Rochester Art Group, a member of the Great Rochester Plein Air Painters, and the Pastel Society of Western New York. She also teaches classes in pastel painting and plein air painting.
When not working in the studio or outdoors, Savage is employed by Monroe 2 -- Orleans BOCES as a Student Behavorial Assistant and job coach. She works with young adults with developmental disabilities.
