Bryan K. Woodruff

By T.J. Woodward

Bryan K. Woodruff, 48, of Indiana, formerly Batavia, passed away on December 18, 2018 at the Methodist North Hospital in Gary, IN. He was born on December 1, 1970 in Geneva, NY, the beloved son of Thomas and Susan (MacPherson) Woodruff of Batavia. Bryan is predeceased by paternal grandparents Margaret and Keith Woodruff, paternal grandfather Alexander MacPherson, and Aunt Sharon Woodruff

In addition to his parents, Bryan is survived by his children; Marguerite, age 14, and George, age 12; their mother Gail Tenney; maternal grandmother Beverly Barnes, aunts and uncles James and Bonnie Woodruff, Archie and Joan Cappotelli, Robert Woodruff, William and Denise MacPherson and numerous cousins.

Bryan grew up in Batavia, and received his high school diploma in 1989.   The next stop on his journey was Hobart College, where he received a BA with Honors in Political Science.  Upon graduation from Hobart, he moved on to Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.  By this time Bryan projected competence, confidence and character to everyone he met. Subsequently, he passed bar exams in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Illinois.  Now the journey focused on work and family.  Bryan loved to entertain, socialize with friends, and show family members around Chicago.  He enjoyed watching the Cubs, and cheering them on as they won their first World Series since 1908.  Throughout his life, he was actively involved in the YMCA and also enjoyed travel.

Eventually Bryan realized that something was not quite right with his health; the journey was now at a turning point.  Bryan traveled to London this past summer with his parents and children; unfortunately the journey was almost over by the time he returned.  Family, fun and faith were all part of his journey.  Bryan will be remembered for his charming and thoughtful manner, quick wit and memorable laugh.  A wonderful life well lived; he will be greatly missed.
