She was born July 22, 1934 in North Tonawanda, N.Y., a daughter of the late Lloyd and Mary Harrington Root.
Elaine will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, who had a passion for her family. She was also a dedicated social worker for the Lockport Senior Citizen Center and a long-time volunteer with Girl Scouts.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 59 years, LaVerne Fisher, her children, Linda (Alan) Meerow of Davie, FL, Susan (Richard) Riggi of Caledonia, Stephen (Amy) Fisher of West Hartford, CT and Nancy (Richard) Matton of Falls Church, VA; a sister, Helen Schieffer of Merrick, NY; grandchildren, Sara, Andrew and Erica Meerow, Rick, Dan and Matt Riggi, Kevin, Mike, Tim and Nick Fisher, Clara, Sophie and Calvin Matton, along with many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by a sister, Mary Rosenbluth.
Family and friends may call on Sunday, July 20 from 12 ~ 1 PM at the Falcone Family Funeral & Cremation Service Inc., 8700 Lake Road (Rt. 19), LeRoy, NY where her funeral service will be celebrated at 1:00. Interment will be private.
