The Fine Arts Committee of Genesee Community College is pleased to announce an opening reception for the exhibit "The Alchemy of Objects" by Rochester artist Lee Hoag. It will be held in the Roz Steiner Art Gallery from 5:50 to 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, and feature free live music and appetizers.
(It will be followed at 7:30 p.m. by a one-show-only performance by Galumpha Dance/Physical Theatre, based in Binghampton. Tickets for Galumpha are $10, or $8 for seniors 55 and over, $5 for students, $2 off for alumni with ID.)
When you visit multimedia artist Lee Hoag's exhibit, you'll see everyday objects in a different way. Hoag takes the ordinary -- from hardware to food prep items -- and turns them into art.
"These utilitarian objects are altered and recreated into something extraordinary and unique," writes Hoag.
Hoag's exhibit will be on display in the Roz Steiner Gallery from Nov. 12 through Dec. 20. The Gallery is open Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by special appointment.
