MARY C. IANNELLO – Age 96, died on Tuesday August 27, 2013 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law in Averill Park, NY while under care from The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County. She was born in Batavia, NY on July 9, 1917, a daughter of the late Joseph and Jennie (Gaeta) Faso, also preceded in death by her husband, John J. Iannello who died in 1978, son, John S. Iannello in 1985 and sisters, Celia Corcimiglia, Sara Pontisso, Rose Fusco, Josephine Joy and brother, Joseph Faso.
Mrs. Iannello was a 1935 graduate of Batavia High School. She was a senior stenographer for the Genesee County Probation Department and later, a senior account clerk for the Genesee County Department of Social Services-Child Support Unit for a total of 25 years. She retired in 1982. A member of the former St. Anthony's Church and a past member of its Altar and Rosary Society along with the American Legion Auxiliary Post #332. After retiring Mary volunteered at the Genesee County Nursing Home. Before coming to Averill Park, Mary resided at the Manor in Batavia and greatly enjoyed her many friends there.
Surviving is her loving son, Richard (Anne) Iannello of Averill Park, NY; daughter-in-law, Immaculata Iannello of Batavia, NY and her sister, Geraldine (Dominic) Pollino of Batavia, NY. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Christine (Steve) Bachtel of Houston, TX, John (Kathryn) Iannello of Williams, AZ and Joseph Iannello of Albion, NY; five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, brother-in-law, Charles (Carol) Iannello of Kenmore, NY; sisters-in-law, Joan Iannello of LeRoy, NY, Jan Nicosia of Williamsville, NY and dear friend, Shirley Clark of Batavia.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday, August 30, 2013 at the Michael S. Tomaszewski Funeral & Cremation Chapel, LLC 4120 West Main Street Road Batavia, New York 14020. Please join the family 10:00 a.m. Saturday August 31, 2013 for a Mass of Christian Burial, Ascension Parish (Sacred Heart Site) corner of Swan & Sumner Streets Batavia, New York. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144.
