The little store on the corner of Harper and Route 20 in Darien is closing, though a new store, completely remodeled, will be re-opened at a later date by a new owner.
Jerry and Kathy Schenck operated 3 Buck's Country Store for 34 years, opening in the fall of 1976.
Jerry has MS and is staying at the Veteran's Hospital in Batavia. Three members of his unit in Vietnam recently rode their motorcycles from different parts of the country to have a reunion at the store.
Kathy said, "I'm really going to miss the people. We watched so many people grow up. They did so many good things for us."
I used to stop there all most
I used to stop there all most every day after school on my way to my girl friends house. The day was not complete without a stop at Three Bucks for something. Then again when time allowed once I was out of school. Kathy and Jerry were two of the nicest people you would ever want to meet. They treated all of us guys like family. Darien will not be the same.
Kathy and Jerry are wonderful
Kathy and Jerry are wonderful people...I was one of those kids they watched grow up. 3 Bucks has been an integral part of life in Darien for years..Thanks Kathy and Jerry for making us a part of your family over the years!!
