I would take it a step further, and legalize it for all citizens 21 or older, much the way alcohol is legal. As I've stated in the past, the evil effects of booze are far greater and darker than marijuana.
Just to know that adult folks would have another option for cronic pain control, is a possitive. These Quack Doctors are regularly writing scripts for drugs like OXYCOTTON, OXYCODINE, HYDROCODINE, PERCECET, ect. for pain control. They are giving them out like candy. Its no wonder people are dieing from overdosing themselves, and becoming addicted. I might add that our youth are getting ahold of these pills and snorting them just for fun. My 70 year old mother was given 100 OXYCODINE for her back pain. Doctors Are Nuts!! They didnt even warn her of the side affects, or risks. These drugs depress the central nervous system, liver, blood pressure, breathing, and heart. Maryjane is also "Proven" to minimize the affects of Glacoma, and for those with cancer, it helps their nausea, associated with Kimo.
So, in conclusion, YES, legalize and tax Maryjane. Think of the money the pharmacudical companies WON"T make. Its Much Safer in my opinion, and you know what, God Grew it First. Its is natural, not synthetic, and has many uses. Just maybe pill dependant poppers, would steer away from them, and have a more calm and healthy result, using THC to remedy their pain.(It does come in a pill also) Just My Opinion & some facts too (+:
Not sure if it should be only approved for medical purposes. That is yet another arena where legislation cannot be easily enforced. Certainly, I believe ill people who cannot handle the side effects of other pain relievers should have access. It is the people who will abuse the legislation thus binding up the legal system when more important things need to be stomped out. Make it legal for all of legal age or don't. I think a half-way measure would only create more problems.
It makes too much sense to legalize it. The country or states as the case were waste so much time and money trying to combat it and failing that I think they're punch drunk or something. The money to be made on it is just unbelievable. To me and about 90% of the American population this is a no brainer and I don't even smoke it. (makes me puke :o(, believe me, I've tried) I just don't know how booze and tobacco are legal and pot isn't. If it were legal they would make a killing not only selling it, but also saving the tax dollars of not having the pot dealers in jail, and also saving money on the man hours of policing it. But like every opinion the general public has, it doesn't matter. We just live in the society so what do we know?
That all sounds good and I agree with you all. Just something to think about. I smoke cigarettes and every time the state wants more taxes they stick it to the smoker. Anouther $1.00 a pack as of yesterday. You realy think I am paying NY tax on my smokes. lol
If they Taxed weed you can bet it would be through the roof. Why wouldn't the Rez start selling it tax free even if they couldn't. There is enough of a black market now that wont go away if it can under cut the price of taxed green.
My thoughts: Why should it be anyone elses business if you or anyone smokes Marijuana? If you want to have a bottle of wine or get plastered around the burn pit with your friends, is that anyone elses business? The answer to both: "NO"
I'm all for being able to grow your own and MYOB. Did prohibition work? Was there a criminal enterprise associated with it while it was illegal? Did that illegal enterprise dissolve when it was finally legalized again? Lets use our brain, folks. Stop this insanity.
I totally agree Karen. Oxycontin, Oxycodone, Percocet and hydrocodone are far worse. They are over prescribed and regularly abused. Selling prescription meds has become a cottage industry locally. People are supplementing their incomes by selling these things to kids. I am totally opposed to anyone selling these drugs to kids or operating motor vehicles under the influence of any such substance. However, I don't much care if people smoke marijuana in their homes. Lets face it, if prohibition actually worked, alcohol would still be illegal.
I guess if you really want to go green while creating large amounts of jobs and tax revenues......

Bud I agree. Plus, just think
Bud I agree. Plus, just think of all the new taxes the Fed, State, County and City can charge on it!!!
I mean come on, has anyone ever met an angry Pot Head? :-)
If total legalization
If total legalization happens..We should get In the Taco business!!

The good Lord created Pot for
The good Lord created Pot for a reason. Yes, it is natural, not man made. Just like the saying goes - everything in moderation.......

Front page depressing news from today's Austin American Statesman. How they came up with a $7 million dollar figure eludes me. I'm sure the growers would seriously disagree.

You're right Tom, and that reason is named Willie Nelson.
