Kathy Briggs was correct to have concerns about resolutions being recommended and pushed through without discussion, that's a problem they have in the County Legislature, but also one that can be easily corrected by astute members of the City Council.
I agree. I think that the committee system is a smart idea. You have to be clear on objectives and you should still be making recommendations to council.
I serve on the Audit committee for the school district. We make sure that any areas of concern are corrected and that the district has the proper Auditors in place...and so forth. At the end of the day, we make our recomend to the BOE and they decide what is best. Seems to work well!
