This Saturday is the “Ride to Remember,” sponsored by Genesee Veterans Support Network (GVSN) and Stan’s Harley Davidson. This ride honors those who served and sacrificed in defense of our freedoms.
Ride registration opens at Stan’s from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. Guided rides begin at 10:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Maps and directions are provided for those who wish to ride independently. It will be a 60-mile ride with three stops.
At 1 p.m. all riders will meet at the Batavia VA for a short service, including a wreath presentation by GVSN. The ride continues to Evergreen Cemetery on Route 77 in Corfu, with another brief service and lastly, will stop at Dawes Corners Cemetery, where riders can assist in marking gravesite of our area veterans (many war of 1812, World War I, etc.) with a wreath presentation there as well.
The ride ends at Stan’s Harley Davidson around 3:30 p.m. At Stan’s there will be Clor’s chicken BBQ, raffles, and two live bands -- What is This and 2 Many Toyz -- that have donated their time.
At 5 p.m. a four-member team of sky divers from WNY Skydiving out of Akron will be jumping with an American and POW flag. Should be amazing to see!
We think this is a great opportunity for the people to come out and support our area veterans. All of the proceeds from this event go directly to Genesee Veterans Support Network, a local nonprofit dedicated to helping Genesee County veterans and their families.
Stan's Harley Davidson is located at 4425 W. Saile Drive in the Town of Batavia.
