The Batavia Rotary Club’s annual Fly-In Breakfast is set for Sunday, June 21. The Fly-In Breakfast is open to the public and features an all-you-can-eat meal and visits by private aircraft throughout the morning.
Food will be served beginning at 7 a.m. and continue through noon.
As in the past, the event will also feature aircraft – including dozens of private airplanes carrying pilots and their friends.
Adult tickets are $6. Tickets for children ages 4 to 12 are $4. Children under 4 are admitted free. Tickets may be obtained from any member of the Batavia Rotary Club or at the door.
The Genesee County Airport is located on Saile Drive, which runs between Route 98 and Bank Street Road, west of the City of Batavia. Saile Drive is just north of the Batavia exit of the Thruway.
The menu features sausage, eggs, pancakes, juice and other beverages. Rotary Club members cook and serve the food.
Private pilots fly their aircraft hundreds of miles to these events and park their aircraft on the runway while they are having breakfast. Local residents join the pilots for breakfast, and have the opportunity to view the wide variety of aircraft landing at the local airport.
Last year about 40 private pilots flew into the Genesee County Airport from locations across New York State and beyond. Over 1,500 area residents attended locally last year.
All proceeds from the 2009 Fly-In Breakfast will benefit the club’s youth and community service programs.
