As a followup to the wonderful discussion that Bea started on old places and names of Batavia, I have put together a post over on my blog about the old corner stores that have disappeared, as I can't figure out how to post here with link to the Google map locations of the old store. Also, I am trying to recall the names of some of them and would appreciate some help.

Tom,
I think the store on Ross & Ellsworth at one time may have been called Cummings. And the basement store on Washington was Quartley's. I didn't grow up in that area, mine was the southside and we had plenty over here also.

Severino's ( I think that was the name) Hutchins St.
There was a store on Jackson St. can't remember the name. It was way down a few house before Chestnut St.
I am sure Bea can help me out if I have forgotten some.

I remember some of those South Side store's. Wandryk's had the best meat market.
Anybody remember Gino's Pizzeria a few door down from St. Anthony's? I remember Gino used to always give me a pepperoni when we came in to pick up our pizza.

Corrigan's was across from the old Sloat Tire on West Main Street
Don't forget Peter's
Don't forget Peter's Delicatessen on Main between Lyon Street and Vernon Avenue and Rhineharts on Oak Street. Marchese's SuperMarket across from Montclair Ave. on Main Street was a staple as well. I used to ride my bike to the edge of town to buy ice cream at George's Dairy. I always liked the name of that place.
