This locomotive fire this evening sounded pretty interesting, so I drove out to get some pictures. The place I found to park required me to hike through some brush. The idea of making the same trip back wasn't appealing, so I asked Stafford 2nd Asst. Chief Scott Kibler for a ride to my truck.
We weren't on the road 90 seconds when a call came in for a brush fire on Roanoke Road, so at that point, I was along for the ride, like it or not (I thought it was great to go out with Stafford on a call from beginning to end).
After the jump are pictures from both the train situation and the Roanoke brush fire.
Thanks to Chief Dave Rumsey for getting me back to my truck after the incidents ended.
These guys were out all day
These guys were out all day wernt they? So were Alexander
I lost count, but I think
I lost count, but I think Alexander had three calls, as did Stafford. I think Le Roy had two. East Pembroke/Indian Falls, Pavilion, Bethany, Darien, Alabama all had at least one ... and if I'm leaving anybody out, sorry, that's all I can think of right now.
Hmmm-I thought it was strange
Hmmm-I thought it was strange that the National Weather Service issued a Fire Watch for counties around us,but not Genesee....guess they should've included Genesee. What happened to the train?
I assume the train eventually
I assume the train eventually went on its way. Haven't heard any more about it.
The train was going to go on
The train was going to go on its way w/one engine, and it was firing up when we left, but not sure when it did leave. Jacob, I got to the hall @ about 3:30 pm and got home at 9:30 pm (long afternoon)
sad thing is that people have
sad thing is that people have no common sense and don't pay attention to what they are doing,,,I can see not burning when there is a fire danger but it certainly is wet enough that with a little care there should not be a problem..here again a few people cause problems for everyone ,why not administer to the problem instead of inflicting problems on the general populace
