to bad pontillos has been sold. went to the auction at the court house a week ago friday. to bad 3 brothers let that beautiful business go because of feuding.
Bob, any idea who purchased the property, or if it is going to be torn down, or restored? Is the Pontillo's building considered a Batavia Landmark? Just wondering
Bite your tongue Bud. We are already very drug store heavy here in Batavia. Does anyone know if the sale included the house behind Pontillos which was also owned by them? My understanding from a former tenant there is that it was to be torn down to make more parking.
I wish I was wrong Beth, but I say 18 months and that will be a Walgreens. BTW, we were fairly well covered with Rite Aid, Tops, and Med Shoppe. Sign of the times, kid...sign of the times.
I'm still hoping for a working pizzeria that is also a pizza museum. It would be a great tourist attraction; large enough for bus loads of people to sit and eat and browse and buy.
Perfect location.

I think you should open that
lol, not me...I just had the suggestion. Someone younger, with more energy and finances would be the right person. Also, someone who knows the history or is willing to research the history of pizza in Batavia (WNY), is needed.
I'm just hoping to see a vision of Batavia that includes tourism and local history as part of the larger picture.

Bea what a great idea! How cool would that be? I mean Batavia has got to have more pizza place per square mile than any other town I've lived in!
I think you should open that, Bea!
