Kids are reportedly "throwing bowling balls down the street" by 22 Tracy Ave. in the city and the caller would like them spoken to, although they are not performing the mischief at this time.
A highly agitated man, pounding the dashboard and waving a gun, is reportedly driving westbound on Route 33 from Route 19. He's behind a white school-bus-like van. Sheriff's deputies are responding.
UPDATE 6:31 p.m.: He was originally spotted on Route 490 coming out of Churchville. He is reportedly driving a black Jeep and is now being stopped by an officer. The Jeep was stopped on Route 33 near Old State.
UPDATE 6:33 p.m. (by Howard): The deputy who stopped the Jeep doesn't believe it's the involved vehicle and is clear of the stop. There is no license plate, or partial plate available on the vehicle. Additionally, and unrelated, another caller reports a group of motorcycles coming from the 490 onto Route 33, and that while on the 490, some had been doing "wheelies and other stunts."
UPDATE 6:37 p.m. (by Howard): A deputy is also on the look out for a white school-bus-like minivan that was reportedly behind the black Jeep at one time to see if the driver has any information. The original caller is no longer following the Jeep.
UPDATE 6:39 p.m.: The Jeep is described as black with a gray two-tone on the bottom.
A fight is reported involving several individuals in front of 161 Bank St. Police are on scene. One person is said to have a gun, but a gun has not been displayed.

The City of Batavia would like to remind residents that the special yellow bulk item stickers that were in your last water bill will only be valid until Oct. 1.
As part of the city’s Strategic Plan for Environmental Sustainability, the city included two (2) yellow bulk item stickers in the June, July and August water bills.
During the city-wide limited bulk pickup program only ONE sticker is necessary for the disposal of one bulk item regardless of size. Place the bulk item with the sticker securely affixed to it at the curb/parkway on your regularly scheduled garbage day.
Please remember to use your yellow stickers by Oct 1st.
The special yellow bulk stickers will not be valid or accepted after that date and you must once again purchase orange sticker to have bulk items picked up.
A small brush fire is reported near the median of the Bovee Road Bridge and Route 490. Bergen and Le Roy fire departments are responding.
UPDATE 2:28 p.m.: Fire is out. Assignment is back in service.
A three-car accident is reported north of Peachy Road on Route 19 in Bergen. Bergen Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. There is air-bag deployment and fluids are leaking. It is blocking traffic.
Fire police are requested to Route 19 and Creamery Road.

UPDATE 1:01 p.m.: Correction: No one was transported, patients were sign-offs.

The event features more than 1,000 pieces of equipment, and demonstrations of threshing, log sawing, bailing and plowing. Plus, lots of fresh steamed sweet corn and other goodies. People from throughout the region flock to it every year.
The severe thunderstorm forecast this afternoon for southern Genesee County apparently wreaked some havoc at the steam show grounds in Alexander. All available manpower was called to help with clean-up. No word on what kind of clean up is needed or what the damages, if any, are.

A large tree limb is down in the roadway at River and South Main streets in the city. City crews are notified.
UPDATE 3:17 p.m.: Howard drove by and said the limb is about seven feet long, less than a foot in diameter, and it's at the side of the roadway.
The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the southern half of Genesee County and it's in effect until 3:30 this afternoon.
A gargantuan dog, believed to be a Great Dane, has no collar and has been running loose for most of the day. Earlier, an animal control officer tried approaching it, but the canine would not allow the officer near. Now, a woman tells dispatch she has a Great Dane in her custody at her car, parked at Hutton Road and Maple Avenue in Oakfield. After an officer finishes investigating the allegation of constantly barking huskies in Alabama, she will meet up with the Dane's temporary handler.
UPDATE 6:43 p.m.: The woman who's keeping tabs on the enormous pooch is munching on pretzels while awaiting the animal control officer. No word on whether she's sharing, but we're betting she is as there is little alternative in this situation with said quarry.
UPDATE 6:49 p.m.: "Genesee, I'm in the vicinity of the stray Great Dane."
UPDATE 7:41 p.m.: The officer has the dog and is pound bound. Is anyone missing a Great Dane? (The breed is not exactly inconspicuous. (It's irrefutable, scientific fact that its size is dwarfed by factors not yet quantifiable, for example, a big heart.))
An officer is responding to 1371 Lewiston Road, Alabama, for a complaint of dogs barking ceaselessly. The nearest crossroads are Alleghany Road and Church Street. There are reportedly three Siberian huskies on the property.
UPDATE 6:38 p.m.: "The owner has been advised. All FOUR dogs are licensed," the officer reports to dispatch, adding that now she's headed to Oakfield for the stray Great Dane.
Burnt food in Room 102 in Spruce Hall at College Village resulted in a fire alarm to which the Town of Batavia Volunteer Fire Department's Engine 24 responded. Upon investigation, burnt food was confirmed to be the cause for alarm and Engine 24 is back in service.
A "Bluegrass Mass" to aid hungry people will be celebrated and Creek Bend will perform at "The Barn" from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 15.
That's located at 2248 Attica Road in Darien Center.
There will be food, fellowship and fun for all -- a harvest celebration in the Episcopal tradition.

Delta blues and Scottish folk tunes, two distinct and expressive music styles, will be showcased in two concerts this month at the Stuart Steiner Theatre.
Travelling the world with his guitar, harmonicas, and entertaining wit, Jim Malcolm sings the traditional melodies of Scotland and his own masterfully crafted folk songs in a style which is modern and accessible, yet presented in an authentic highland spirit.
He performs at 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 21.
Malcolm was lead singer of the phenomenal Scottish band Old Blind Dogs for seven years, touring extensively throughout Europe and North America and playing at many of the biggest folk festivals. He plays guitar in mainly DADGAD tuning (an alternative guitar tuning practice most associated with Celtic music), and simultaneously plays harmonica to a seldom heard standard.
In 2004, Malcolm was "Songwriter of the Year" in the Scots Traditional Music Awards, been nominated three times for "Scots Singer of the Year," and is renowned for his musical interpretation of the poetry of Robert Burns.

Although she hails from New Jersey, Block began plumbing the depths of the Delta sound at the age of 12. She learned by jamming with legendary bluesmen Eddie "Son" House and Skip James, and by absorbing the style of the late, great blues master Robert Johnson.
Block has spent years honing her craft through her own original and affecting country blues tunes, and by performing and recording with some of today's leading musicians, including Bonnie Raitt, Bruce Hornsby and Keb Mo. Amid the joy of reuniting with friends and professors, the big hair and '80s tribute bands, and the great food and good times that will mark Homecoming at Genesee Community College in September, will be inspiring artwork created by GCC alumni.
The Roz Steiner Art Gallery will showcase a variety of media from talented graduates: digital photography, nature paintings, ceramics, realistic portraiture, serigraphs and watercolors, photography and multimedia works.
The exhibitors for the Alumni Exhibition include:
Amanda J. Adams, from the GCC class of 2007, is a digital photographer and certified art educator. She earned her associate degree in Fine Arts after graduating from Greece Athena High School. In 2009, Adams completed her bachelor's degree in Art Education, and is currently working toward a master's degree in Art Education from Nazareth College in Rochester.
Briana Coogan-Bassett was raised in Warsaw in a family of artists. Her collection of nature paintings brings to light the plight of endangered animals. Coogan-Bassett earned a Fine Arts associate degree from GCC in 2009, where she says she "learned basic photo developing skills, hand building techniques, how to construct and prepare a canvas, and the importance of drawing what you see." Her work has been featured in solo exhibits with both the Genesee Valley Council on the Arts and the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
Megan Dembinski is ceramist from the GCC class of 2009 who lives in Silver Springs. After completing her studies at Genesee, Dembinski earned a bachelor's degree in Art History with a minor in Studio Art from SUNY Geneseo in 2011. The Arts Council for Wyoming County awarded her the Rising Star Scholarship, which included a solo exhibition and a booth at the Letchworth Arts and Crafts Show and Sale. Dembinski plans to pursue a master's degree in either Art Conservation or Art Education.
Heather Gleason, from Elba, focuses on historical photographs in creating her realistic portraits. She earned an associate degree in Fine Arts from GCC in 2009 and then completed a Bachelor of Science in Studio Art from SUNY Brockport in 2011.
Chris Held has spent most of his life in Leicester, where the rural community has shaped his collection of watercolors and serigraphs featuring nature scenes. Held graduated from GCC in 2003 with an associate degree, and completed his bachelor's degree from SUNY Geneseo in 2008. He was the first recipient of the Rising Star Scholarship Award from the Arts Council for Wyoming County.
Michael Mulley is a Batavia native who owns the College Street Gallery in the historic Allentown District of Buffalo. The freelance photographer earned his associate degree in communications in 1988 and completed a bachelor's degree in Fine Art Photography from RIT in 1991. Mulley's photos have been published in The Buffalo News Sunday Magazine, Buffalo Spree magazine, Artvoice, Hallwalls' publications, The Art Laboratory of Berlin and the jazz magazine Coda.
Mary Jo Whitman graduated from GCC in 2009 with an associate degree in Fine Arts. She uses a variety of materials to produce interesting and meaningful two- and three-dimensional artworks. Whitman is currently working toward a bachelor's degree in Studio Arts from SUNY Brockport, with a dual concentration in sculpture and photography, as well as minors in art history and psychology.
"As I looked over the resumes and portfolios of this group of artists, I was impressed with the quality of the artwork, as well as the breadth of both subject and media," said Gallery Manager Shirley Verrico. "These artists clearly developed excellent foundation skills at GCC, but perhaps more importantly, each found a creative voice with which they could express themselves in a unique and personal way."
The exhibit runs from Sept. 14 through Nov. 8, with a reception planned from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 29 during homecoming weekend.
The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday but it's closed on Tuesday. Admission to the Roz Steiner Art Gallery is FREE.

GCC's Bringin' Back the '80s Homecoming Weekend Sept. 28-29 has something for everyone and for all ages, including live bands, a car show, soccer games, brunch, Athletic Hall of Fame inductions and an Oktoberfest mixer with the Batavia Rotary Club at the Batavia Downs.

A motor vehicle accident is reported on Route 33 in Bergen. Bergen Fire Police are asked to shut down traffic at Route 33 and School Road, and Route 33 at West Bergen Road. Mercy medics and the Bergen Fire Department are also responding.
UPDATE 3:31 p.m.: This accident involved a tractor-trailer from Ontario, Canada, and it tore down some power lines, which National Grid is working to repair.
UPDATE 3:44 p.m.: The roadway is reopened.
A motor vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Route 20 and Perry Road. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. A flatbed tow is requested for a 2006 Toyota Corolla with front-end damage.
The deluge of rain has flooded roadways and drainage pipes causing driving hazards and other problems.
There are reports of flooding on Route 5 and Gilbert Street, Route 19 and Hilltop, Route 19 and Wolcott in Le Roy.
In the city, Watson and Thorpe are flooded again, about six to eight inches of water as the storm wound down. The basement of 14 Watson St. flooded again. Watson and Evans was also flooded.
We'll add more info as we get it.
UPDATE 3:50 p.m.: According to the National Weather Service, it's about 72 degrees out with humidity of 87 percent. More showers and possibly a thunderstorm are predicted until midnight, with showers forecast thereafter. Route 5 is reopened.
