A truck is on fire and it's near a building and fuel pump at 3884 Batavia Elba Town Line Road. Town of Batavia Fire Department is responding. Mutual aid is requested from Elba and Oakfield fire departments.
UPDATE 1:24 p.m.: Town of Batavia command says the cab is fully involved and there are also two waste stations nearby.
UPDATE 1:40 p.m.: Command reports the fire is knocked down.
A hazardous weather outlook has been issued by the National Weather Service in Buffalo.
Low pressure is expected to track across portions of Western New York this afternoon and evening, bringing showers and thunderstorms, and possibly some localized flooding.
The likelihood of widespread hazardous weather is low.
A one-vehicle rollover accident with possible entrapment is reported on the westbound Thruway at mile market 391. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. Mercy Flight is available if needed.
UPDATE 12:16 p.m.: Two additional ambulances are called to the scene. Mercy Flight will not be needed.

Eclipse Multi Sport descends upon Darien Lakes State Park to feature a family friendly Father’s Day event -- the QuakerMan Triathlon starting at 8 a.m. on June 15.
Eclipse Multi Sport race management is based in Western New York, and has produced multiple USA Triathlon-sanctioned events for the past 13 years. The popularity of Triathlon as a sport is growing, and realizing Genesee County’s own vast state park was a perfect fit for a new event.
Eclipse Multi Sport is proud to partner with Darien Lakes State Park in featuring a sprint and Olympic caliber distance multi-sport event. There will be multiple opportunities to participate, making it fun for the whole family!
An Olympic, sprint, Aquabike, Duathlon, relay team category and even a kids' tri-event in one day! With a beautiful body of water (swim) and a great trail system (run), as well as suitable road conditions (bike) in and around the park, this makes for a wonderful venue.

Triathlons are a fairly large undertaking because of the three disciplines involved -- swim, bike and run -- so they require a lot of work to put together. But Eclipse Multi Sport, Darien Lakes State Park, New York State Park Police, Genesee County Sheriff’s Dept.and other Genesee County authorities have come up with a fun and exciting race course.

The ninth season of the Downtown Batavia Public Market begins on Thursday, June 19, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Thursday through Sept. 25. But starting this year, it will be dubbed the Downtown FARMACY and there's a new location!
The Batavia Business Improvement District has announced that FARMACY will now be held in the parking lot at Bank Street and Alva Place (across from Jerome Center/UMMC). There will be plenty of convenient parking.
Among the offerings are baked goods, fresh corn, tomatoes, berries, homemade dog treats, peaches, potatoes, BBQ sauce, honey, maple syrup, fresh cut flowers, artisan wines, handmade quilts & crafts, and lots more.

The Genesee County Dairy Princess honored the first baby born in Genesee County during the month of June 2014 as the Dairy Baby. Harper Grey Alexander, a baby girl, was born to Ashley and Ryan Alexander of Batavia on Tuesday, June 3, at 10:56 p.m. at United Memorial Medical Center. She weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and measured 20-inches long. She was delivered by Patricia Beverly, CNM. Harper is the first child for the new parents and her grandparents are Russell and Deette Alexander and Steve and Pam Foster.
June is National Dairy Month. It is an annual tradition celebrating the contributions of the dairy industry and promoting nutrient-rich dairy foods.
The Genesee County Dairy Princess, Elba High School junior Kayla Wormuth, and the 4H Dairy Program organizer Tess Zuber, presented the first baby born in June with a basket of dairy products including flavored milks, product coupons, cheeses from Yancey’s Fancy, and a number of other infant items.
City Council President Brooks Hawley will be holding six City Hall meetings, one for each ward. The meetings will be entitled “Coffee with the City Council President” and will be held at City Hall in the Community Room.
These meetings will be used as a direct connection to the president to have a forum with residents to collect thoughts, concerns, ideas or interests from city residents. The meetings will be held from 10 a.m. – noon on the following days:.

Kayla Casper, a Genesee County Youth Court member and a senior at Elba Central School, was one of the 50 Youth Court members who applied for the Association of New York State Youth Courts Scholarship. The ANYSYC awarded three scholarships and Kayla was awarded one of them.
To qualify for the ANYSYC scholarship, the Youth Court member must be a graduating senior and a member of a Youth Court Program that paid membership dues to ANYSYC in 2013. The applicant must enroll in a two- or four-year program at an accredited college/university. The individual must be of good moral character, have demonstrated civic responsibility through volunteerism, and have a good strong desire to make a contribution to his/her community.
The process included an application, an essay including educational goals, career goals, why they are deserving of this scholarship, and what being a member of a Youth Court has done for them, along with two letters of recommendation. On behalf of ANYSYC, Kayla was awarded $500 to put toward her college education where she will be attending Cazenovia College.
Christina E. Baker, of Byron, received a bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering from Clarkson University on May 10, 2014.

The Holland Land Office Museum is offering a Senior Bus Trip on Wednesday, Aug. 27, to the Lockport Locks, with an Erie Canal Cruise, and a visit to Black Bird Cider Works.
Cost is $45 per person, which includes the cruise and lunch. Hard cider tasting costs $3.
The bus will leave the museum at 8:30 a.m. and return no later than 5 p.m.

Andrea Stefani, of Batavia, was among the recipients of 48 doctor of physical therapy degrees and 668 master's degrees conferred by The University of Scranton at its post-baccalaureate commencement on May 31 in the Byron Recreation Complex.
Stefani earned a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree with a major in Physical Therapy from The University of Scranton.
Programs with the most graduates at Scranton were MBA, curriculum and instruction, educational administration, occupational therapy and human resources.
Sister Maryalice Jacquinot, IHM, president and CEO of St. Joseph's Center in Scranton, was the principal speaker at the Jesuit university's graduate school commencement.
"Many times, we find that the most vulnerable, those we seek to assist, bring tremendous meaning and understanding into our lives. They demonstrate courage, trust, fidelity and acceptance in such a positive way that they become the ones providing the greater good and life lessons. They are our inspiration and able to change all of us for the better," Sr. Maryalice said in her address, noting that it is "especially significant to be honored by The University of Scranton in its 125th anniversary year."
University of Scranton President Kevin P. Quinn, S.J., also addressed the graduates and their guests. Degrees were conferred by Father Quinn to candidates presented by W. Jeffrey Welsh, Ph.D., dean of the College of Graduate and Continuing Education.

A fire on the roof, near an air-conditioning unit, is reported at the Flying J Travel Plaza. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding along with Corfu and the city's Fast Team. Richmond Memorial Library, 19 Ross St., Batavia is presenting “Fizz, Boom, READ!,” a Summer Reading Club for Adults from June 23 through Aug. 8. Participants are encouraged to read through the summer, and a small gift is awarded for finishing six books.
