14th annual Pembroke Corfu Darien Kiwanis Club Car Cruise and Fall Festival

The Pembroke Corfu Darien Kiwanis Club's 14th Annual Car Cruise and Fall Festival will be held on Sunday, Sept. 19, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pembroke Town Park (next to Pembroke High School, Route 77). Cars/trucks/motorcycles are all welcome.

Preregistration is $10 per vehicle prior to Sept. 12 or $15 the day of the event. Our goal is to have the majority of the vehicles preregistered.

An advantage of preregistering are that you are guaranteed one of our unique dash plaques for the first 100 cars registered.

Le Roy Central School District kindergarten registration for the 2021-22 academic year begins Wednesday, March 10.

Pick up a registration packet at the Wolcott Street School Main Office, located at 2 Trigon Park in the Village of Le Roy, on Wednesday between the hours 4 to 6 p.m., OR Thursday, March 11, between the hours of 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

It is free and available to anyone interested in learning more about the first-time homebuying process.

Assemblyman Hawley and Connect Life hold blood drive at Batavia Downs

Assemblyman Steve Hawley is sponsoring a blood drive to take place this Monday, March 1, from 2-7 p.m. at Batavia Downs Gaming and Hotel.

March 10 is deadline to RSVP for the debut of Crossroads House Book Club community discussion via Zoom

The Crossroads House Book Club is a new initiative in our mission as a comprehensive end-of-life resource in our community.

It is open to anyone and we look forward to serving you!

We will be discussing the first 15 short stories in the book “Dandelions Blooming in the Cracks of Sidewalks,” by Amita Lhamo.

In it, the author describes lessons she learned in difficult situations as a hospice chaplain. Her mix of poetry and storytelling makes this a captivating read!

Winter Fun Hike at GC Park & Forest, snow or no snow, preregister and meet at Pavilion A

The Winter Fun Night Hike at the Genesee County Park & Forest has been RESCHEDULED from Saturday Feb. 27th to Friday Feb. 26th from 7 to 9 p.m.

Hike will go, snow or no snow!

Snowshoes may be used, weather permitting.

Richmond library hosts special virtual concert on 'Traditional and Historical Songs of NYS' -- must register to receive link

Richmond Memorial Library will host a special virtual concert entitled "Traditional and Historical Songs of New York State" performed by Dave Ruch at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24.

Ruch, a performer and teaching artist, will present and tell the stories behind the songs of real-life “Yonkers” from days gone by – farmers, lumbermen, children, housewives, lake sailors, canallers and more. These were collected through considerable research and interpreted for all to enjoy with mandolin, banjo, guitar, jaw harp and more.

'Underground Railroad in the Niagara Frontier' is topic of HLOM presenter

The Holland Land Office Museum is proud to welcome on Thursday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. Michael Broccolo of the Niagara Falls Underground Railroad Heritage Center as our next presenter in our Guest Speaker Series. The topic will be "The Underground Railroad in the Niagara Frontier."

HLOM Virtual Java with Joe E.: Topic is early Methodist Church

On Thursday, Feb. 25th at 9 a.m. the Holland Land Office Museum will be hosting its next edition of its Virtual Java with Joe E. morning presentations. This month we welcome back local author Greg Van Dussen as he shares excerpts from his latest works on the early Methodist Church.

His latest works that will be covered are: "Circuit Riders on the Road to Glory" and "Circuit Rider Devotions Vol. 2." Both books are also available for sale in the museum bookstore.

Deadline for beginning farmers to sign up for Cornell Extension's workshops on 'Starting a Livestock Farm'

There are many aspects to consider when starting a livestock farm, such as land, what to sell, and how to sell it. Cornell Cooperative Extension’s specialists Nancy Glazier and Joan Sinclair Petzen are offering a beginning farmer educational series via Zoom beginning 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24; second session is Wednesday, March 10.

The two sessions will cover resource assessment, business planning, basic bookkeeping and budgeting. Time will be available each evening for discussion. Follow-up sessions will be held biweekly if there is enough interest.
