A serious injury accident is reported in the city at Redfield Parkway and West Main Street. One person is said to have a punctured lung. Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 10:04 a.m.: A 65-year-old male who was driving a green gray pickup truck is being transported to UMMC complaining of pain on his left side. Another patient is being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

(Truck had been moved to this location by the time I arrived at the scene.)

An accident involving a tractor-trailer and a car, unknown injuries, is reported at routes 20 and 63. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. It is blocking traffic. State Troopers are also responding. Mercy Flight's availability is being checked.

UPDATE 7:12 p.m.: The semi is jackknifed. Mercy Flight 6 out of Batavia is available if needed. Two more ambulances are requested.

UPDATE 7:20 p.m.: Mercy Flight will not be needed. "Be advised the tractor-trailer is carrying potted flowers," says a responder.

UPDATE 7:37 p.m.: The trucker is from Ontario, Canada. Thus far, one person is being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

UPDATE 7:40 p.m.: A second patient is transported to Strong.

A two-vehicle accident is reported at routes 98 and 262. One vehicle is blocking the intersection. The other has struck The Mill Co-op Gifts & Antiques or a building by that location and there's "a lot of structural damage as a result." The vehicle that struck it is a 10-wheel box truck and the driver is not injured, but is trapped inside. Elba Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding along with law enforcement.

UPDATE 1:43 p.m.: A unit from Oakfield is asked to stand by in its quarters. A code enforcement officer is requested to the scene.

UPDATE 1:45 p.m.: The truck has a possible fuel leak.

UPDATE 2 p.m.: National Grid is called to the scene.

UPDATE 2:38 p.m.: According to Deputy Jon Szumigala at the scene, the box truck swerved to avoid a sedan which had turned in front of him. As a result, the truck hit a storage building owned by The Mill. The trucker got lucky. His vehicle was struck by large pieces of wood and beams in the crash and although no beam pierced the cab, one went through his trailer like a spear, about a foot above his head. The 60-year-old had to be extricated by firefighters and was taken to UMMC with no complaints of pain. The sedan is totaled and the front end is completely mangled, the driver unhurt. "The building appears to be weakened tremendously," Szumigala said, adding that they can't remove the vehicle until code enforcement says it's OK to do so. The roadway is reopened.

An 88-year-old Le Roy resident, Marie Costa, died this morning in a single-car  accident in the Village of Le Roy.

Costa's vehicle reportedly jumped the curb in front of McDonald's Restaurant and traveled along the south sidewalk of Main Street and collided with the former Pontillo's Restaurant building.

The accident was reported at 7:46 a.m.

Investigators have yet to determine the cause of the accident and Costa's death.

Le Roy fire, Le Roy ambulance, Le Roy DPW and the Sheriff's Office Crash Management Team assisted Le Roy PD at the scene.

A serious injury accident is reported at 67 49 Main St. in the Village of Le Roy. A car reportedly struck a pole and the front of the McDonald's restaurant a building. The vehicle is smoking. Le Roy fire and ambulance are responding.

UPDATE 7:51 a.m.: A Le Roy police officer on scene says the driver is an elderly female who is not trapped in the vehicle, but needs help to be extricated.

UPDATE 7:54 a.m.: There is structural damage to the building and a code enforcement officer is called to the scene. (The car struck the former Pontillo's building at 49 Main St.)

UPDATE 7:59 a.m.: An officer inquires about the availability of a member of law enforcement's Crash Management Team to respond.

UPDATE 8:04 a.m.: "We've exhausted all our resources in contacting code enforcement and the building owner," says a dispatcher, but they are continuing to try and make contact. A code officer from Stafford is en route instead.

UPDATE 8:10 a.m.: "We are forcing entry into the building and making sure everything is shut off. Le Roy PD has been advised," says the fire chief on scene. The driver is being transported to UMMC.

UPDATE 10:33 a.m.: We confirmed with dispatch the building struck was the former Pontillo's location.

A one-car rollover accident with four occupants still inside is reported on the westbound Thruway at mile marker 393.7. Unknown injuries. East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 7:33 p.m.: The vehicle landed on its roof and it's actually on the shoulder of Harloff Road. One person remains trapped inside. There are multiple cars pulled over near the accident scene.

UPDATE 7:36 p.m.: Two adults and two infants were in the car, with one adult still inside. A second ambulance is called along with traffic control.

UPDATE 7:51 p.m.: The driver is being transported to Erie County Medical Center.

UPDATE 8:01 p.m.: The babies are being transported to Women's & Children's Hospital in Buffalo.

UPDATE 8:07 p.m.: East Pembroke is back in service.

A car and bicycle accident is reported at the intersection of Clay Street and West Main Street, Village of Le Roy.

There is an injury.

The bike rider is out of the roadway.

UPDATE 5:11 p.m.: The car will need to be towed. "The window is just demolished and it's not driveable," an officer tells dispatch. 

UPDATE 5:15 p.m.: Route 19 is reopened. Le Roy fire back in service.

A two-car accident with possible minor injuries is reported on Clinton Street Road, Batavia, in front of Terry Hills Golf Course.

The accident is blocking.

UPDATE 10:21 a.m.: One lane blocked. Debris in roadway. One person complaining of neck pain.

UPDATE 10:34 a.m.: One patient being transported to UMMC.

UPDATE 10:51 a.m.: Town of Batavia fire back in service.

A motor-vehicle accident with four people suffering minor injuries is reported at 7615 Clinton St. Road, just west of Jericho Road. Bergen Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. All of the victims are out. The vehicle reportedly smashed into a pole.

UPDATE 9:10 p.m.: Because young children are involved in this minor-injury accident, a second Mercy ambulance is called to the scene. 

UPDATE 9:18 p.m.: Responders are asked to stop east of the incident and leave only one lane of traffic open, westbound.

UPDATE 9:37 p.m.: One patient is being taken to UMMC.

UPDATE 9:39 p.m.: Two patients are being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

A motorcyclist "dumped his bike and has a shoulder injury" and he's sitting roadside at Route 5 and Boyce Road in Pembroke. East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. The roadway is clear.

UPDATE 2:20 p.m.: He has a lot of road rash on his shoulder. There were no other vehicles involved.

UPDATE 2:49 p.m.: This accident involved a bicycle, not a motorcycle.

A two-car accident is reported at 7202 Meadville Road at the corner with Parker Road. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding. There is air bag deployment, extrication is needed. A responder on scene says one victim is "pretty well pinned in. He believes his leg is broken." Another victim says "she hurts all over." Mercy Flight 6 out of Batavia is on standby. Sheriff's deputies are also heading to the scene.

UPDATE 8:24 p.m.: Mercy Flight is dispatched to the scene along with a second Mercy rig.

UPDATE 8:25 p.m.: A rescue unit out of Akron is requested to respond, mutual-aid.

UPDATE 8:55 p.m.: About three minutes ago, the man with the injured leg was extricated.

UPDATE 9:17 p.m.: I think a 32-year-old female was transported to UMMC and a younger female was taken to ECMC. The transmission has been patchy.

A pilot dusting a sweet cornfield off Brooksville Road in Alexander this morning spotted a wire stretched over the field and his attempt to avoid it led to the crash of his plane.

Officials say Louis C. Christie, 48, of Stephentown, was unhurt in the 10:30 a.m. crash.

Christie attempted to avoid the wire by maneuvering quickly to go under it, but his plane bottomed out and a prop was damaged. When Christie attempted to make a turn over trees at the south end of the field, his plane stalled and dropped to the ground.

The fuselage of the plane was largely undamaged and Christie climbed out easily, walked to the roadway and awaited the arrival of emergency personnel.

The plane was a 1974 Piper Pawnee D Spray Plane.

FAA inspectors were called to the scene and the accident is still under investigation by the FAA and the Sheriff's Office.

A motor-vehicle accident, believed to be with minor injuries, is reported at Route 237 and North Bergen Road. Byron Fire Department is responding along with medics.

UPDATE 1:19 p.m.: Law enforcement on scene confirms minor injuries. Two flatbed tows are called.

A bicyclist was struck, how is not clear, but he is conscious. This happened at Ellicott and Hutchins streets in the city. City fire is responding along with police and a medic.

UPDATE 12:56 p.m.: City fire is back in service. Apparently, everything's OK.

A cropduster crashed, but the pilot was not injured, in a field near the junction of Brookville Road and Route 20. This happened at about 10:30 a.m. Alexander Fire Department responded and is still on scene, awaiting a representative of the Federal Aviation Administration (required in all flight accidents). The FAA rep is expected in the next 10 minutes or so.

UPDATE 1:57 p.m.: The FAA has completed its inspection and is releasing the plane back into the custody of the pilot.

A motorcycle accident is reported at 644 Knapp Road. The motorcyclist is in a driveway and is reportedly conscious, argumentative and "possibly combative." Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments are responding along with Mercy medics. A responder says the gas tank is leaking. The rider reportedly got up and tried to leave, but fell back down. Mercy Flight is on ground standby.

UPDATE 11:52 a.m.: Mercy Flight will not be needed. The male rider will be transported by ambulance.

UPDATE Noon: Mercy medics are back in service. "The patient left by private vehicle prior to our arrival," the medic said.

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Alexander and Rose roads. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. One person has a head injury, unknown severity. They are checking on the availability of Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 12:25 p.m.: Mercy Flight is not needed.

UPDATE 12:58 p.m.: Two vehicles were involved in this accident. I'm not sure about the status of patient(s), but I think one person was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 1:06 p.m.: Town of Batavia is back in service.

Somewhere in the Lake Street Road and Parmalee Road area a caller indicates he had a rollover accident and was unconscious for some period of time, perhaps as long as an hour.

He isn't sure of his location and said his vehicle is some distance off the road.

Le Roy fire and ambulance and law enforcement are in route.

UPDATE: While there was some chatter about this following our initial report, I never heard an ambulance transport (not saying there wasn't one, I just didn't hear it) nor did I hear Le Roy clear the scene.

A two-vehicle accident with injuries is reported at Bloomingdale and Sand Hill roads, on the border of the Town of Alabama and the Tonawanda Indian Reservation. One person is said to have a mouth and arm injury, another is complaining of chest pain due to the seat belt restraint. Alabama Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 3:17 p.m.: The patients are both children.

UPDATE 3:19 p.m.: A second ambulance is requested.

UPDATE 3:54 p.m.: The patients are being transported to Women's and Children's Hospital in Buffalo.

UPDATE 4:11 p.m.: Alabama is back in service.
