A two-car accident is reported at Akron and Alleghany roads. It is blocking traffic. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments and medics are responding. Fire Police are at the scene handling traffic. One person has a minor chest injury.

Car and semi collide at routes 63 and 20, Texaco Town

A car and tractor-trailer accident is reported at routes 63 and 20, Texaco Town. The driver of the semi reportedly suffered "seizure-like activity" but is now "up and walking." The accident is blocking traffic. Pavilion Fire Department is responding for traffic control, along with Mercy medics. Law enforcement is on scene. The driver of the car is OK.

UPDATE 6:53 p.m.: The semi is a "heavy wrecker" partially in the ditch. It can probably be driven away once it's pulled out of the ditch, but the current driver will not likely be able to do that. The turning lane is blocked and traffic is backing up.

UPDATE 7:22 p.m.: Pavilion assignment is back in service.

UPDATE 8:27 p.m.: The roads are reopened.

Little girl hit by car on Galloway Road, Town of Pembroke

A 6-year-old girl has been hit by a car in Pembroke on Galloway Road, near Slusher. Mercy Flight out of Batavia is responding, along with Mercy medics and East Pembroke Fire Department.

UPDATE 4:33 p.m.: Mercy Flight has landed.

UPDATE 4:41 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne and headed to Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo.

UPDATE 4:54 p.m.: All responders are back in service.

Truck rollover accident with injuries on Broadway Road, Bethany

A one-vehicle rollover accident with injuries is reported at 5491 Broadway Road. Bethany Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. The driver has "head and neck pain." The pickup truck's fuel spilled. One lane of traffic is blocked. The accident occurred "on the east side of the hill," near a "dip in the road where the viaduct is." Pavilion Fire Police are also called. A responder says it may be possible to have the other lane remain open.

UPDATE 8:16 a.m.: The vehicle involved is a four-wheel drive Ford F-250 with ag plates.

UPDATE 8:25 a.m.: They are alternating the traffic flow. A flatbed tow is called.

UPDATE 8:52 a.m.: Bethany assignment back in service.

Single-car rollover reported on Ellicott Street Road

A one-vehicle rollover accident with injuries is reported on Ellicott Street Road, near Shepard Road, Town of Batavia.

Town of Batavia Fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

A chief on scene reports the vehicle is on the shoulder and on its wheels.

Car crash at Route 20 and Linwood Road, Pavilion

A car accident is reported at Route 20 and Linwood Road. An 81-year-old female is said to have a minor head injury and arm pain. State Police are on scene and Mercy medics and Pavilion Fire Department are responding.

Car wreck on Richmond Avenue in the city

A motor-vehicle accident is reported at 21 Richmond Ave. City fire, police and Mercy medics are responding. There are believed to be only minor injuries.

Accident with a minor injury reported in Alabama

A one-car MVA is reported at Lewiston and Salt roads, Alabama, with a minor injury.

The driver has been on the phone with dispatchers. A passerby reports seeing blood on the driver.

Alabama Fire Department and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 6:01 a.m.: Call back. The car is now on fire.

UPDATE 6:03 a.m.: Deputy on scene reports the vehicle is fully involved.

UPDATE 6:20 a.m.: Sounds like the car was completely destroyed. It's been difficult for law enforcment to get identifying information, such as the license plate number, from it.

UPDATE 6:46 a.m.: Alabama is in service.

Two cars crash in Darien, one strikes a construction site flagman

A two-car accident, also involving a pedestrian, is reported at 10271 Alleghany Road, between Sumner and Broadway. One person is said to have a minor head laceration. There was air bag deployment. A Sheriff's deputy on scene says one of the vehicles struck a flagman helping control traffic at a construction site. He was taken directly to the hospital by the construction company's personnel and there's no word about his condition. Darien Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 1:29 p.m.: The Corfu Fire Department is called to the scene.

Accident with injuries reported at Gorton Road and Lewiston Road, Alabama

A two-car accident is reported on Lewiston Road at Gorton Road, Alabama.

A person is trapped in a vehicle and there is at least one injury.

One vehicle is on its side.

Mercy Flight is available if needed.

A passerby is stabilizing the person who is trapped and reports smelling fuel.

Oakfield is requested mutual aid with extrication equipment.

A deputy reports both vehicles leaking fuel but no source of ignition at this time.

Traffic is being shut down at Route 63 and Maple.

Alabama fire and Mercy EMS responding.

UPDATE 6:44 a.m.: Mercy Flight 5 requested to the scene.

UPDATE 6:47 a.m.: A second Mercy ambulance requested to the scene.

UPDATE 6:52 a.m.: A medic on scene says Mercy Flight won't be necessary. Mercy Flight cancelled.

UPDATE 6:57 a.m.: Patient extricated.

UPDATE 8 a.m.: Alabama assignment back in service.

Car crash with injuries on eastbound Thruway, Le Roy responding

A motor-vehicle accident with injuries is reported on the eastbound Thruway at mile marker 382.1. Le Roy Fire and Ambulance Service is responding.

UPDATE 2:59 p.m.: Due to the lack of available ambulances, Bergen's ambulance is requested to the scene. An ambulance from Caledonia is also called. A person at the scene reports three people are injured.

UPDATE 3:02 p.m.: The availability of Mercy Flight is checked. Also, an ambulance from Henrietta is called in.

UPDATE 3:07 p.m.: A responder reports there are six patients. A second ambulance out of Henrietta is requested. Mercy Flight out of Buffalo is available.

UPDATE 3:09 p.m.: Apparently Byron was also called, because Byron is requesting Clarendon is asked to stand by in Byron's fire hall.

UPDATE 3:11 p.m.: A Mercy rig has become available and it is asked to stage at the Thruway entrance.

UPDATE 3:17 p.m.: Bergen is taking a patient to Rochester General Hospital. Stafford is asked to stand by in its own quarters.

UPDATE 3:22 p.m.: Bethany's ambulance is requested. A crew from Darien is asked to assemble in quarters.

UPDATE 3:32 p.m.: A patient is being taken to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 3:34 p.m.: A chief on scene reports five patients have been removed from a vehicle. Henrietta is taking a patient to Strong.

UPDATE 3:39 p.m.: Caledonia is taking a victim to Strong.

UPDATE 3:41 p.m.: Stafford is told to stand down from its standby in quarters.

UPDATE 3:48 p.m.: Le Roy fire is packing up and preparing to return to service and the State Troopers are in charge of the scene.

Injured driver allegedly left the scene of accident on Oatka Trail, Le Roy

A driver reportedly involved in a single-car accident overnight is facing possible charges after he allegedly left the scene of the accident.

Jeffrey S. Canale, 43, of 2 Orchard Drive, was located at his house following the accident and transported by an ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital.

According to a Sheriff's Office accident report, Canale was driving a 1999 BMW sedan westbound on Oatka Trail, Le Roy, at 2:13 a.m. when his vehicle spun out, went off the roadway and struck a tree, and then spun off the tree.

Canale allegedly left the scene of the accident before law enforcement arrived.

The accident was investigated by Deputy Frank Bordonaro.

Car/deer accident on westbound thruway, unknown injuries

A car / deer accident is reported on the westbound thruway at mile marker 403. Unknown injuries. Pembroke and Indian Falls fire departments and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 1:12 p.m.: A chief on scene says fire and medics can stand down. Only law enforcement is needed at the scene (to dispatch the deer).

Military vehicle in a convoy rolls over on eastbound Thruway, unknown injuries

A military vehicle, no further description, rolled over on the eastbound Thruway at mile marker 387. Unknown injuries. Town of Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. It was hauling a trailer but it's not known if there's other cargo. It was part of a convoy.

UPDATE 11:25 a.m.: Mercy medics are taking two females to UMMC. One is a 39-year-old complaining of minor leg pain. The other is 21 and has some neck pain. Some fluids from the vehicle spilled and absorbants will be used to clean it up. Law enforcement is slowing traffic down at the scene, but the roadway is open.

UPDATE 11:33 a.m.: The town assignment is back in service. The mile marker at the accident scene was determined to be 387.8.

ATV accident reported in Elba

An ATV accident as been reported on the old railroad bed near Transit Road, Elba.

The closest street address is 6920 Transit Road. That is between Byron Elba Road and Bridge Road.

A person is injured.

Elba fire and Mercy EMS dispatched.

UPDATE 4:56 p.m.: A chief on scene reports a possible head injury and shoulder injury. Mercy Flight is going on in-air standby.

UPDATE 5 p.m.: Mercy Flight requested to the scene. Fire police requested to close the road.

UPDATE 5:09 p.m.: Byron fire responding mutual aid. Mercy Flight on the ground.

UPDATE 5:23 p.m.: Mercy Flight airborne, in route to Strong.

Car wreck with injuries at Route 20 and Perry Road, Pavilion

A two-car accident with injuries is reported at Route 20 and Perry Road, Pavilion. Mercy medics and Pavilion Fire Department are responding. Mercy Flight #5 out of Batavia is available, based on the dispatcher's inquiry.

The accident is blocking traffic. Fire police are requested at Route 20 "at the top of the hill" and at Asbury Road to slow traffic.

UPDATE 7:09 p.m.: A second and third ambulance are requested. Fire police are also called to control traffic at Route 20 and South Street.

UPDATE 7:12 p.m.: Mercy Flight will not be required.

UPDATE 7:22 p.m.: No word on how many people are involved, but four of them will be sign-offs.

UPDATE 8:01 p.m.: The Pavilion assignment is back in service and the road is reopened. One person was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 8:14 p.m.: Three other patients were transported to Rochester General Hospital.

No citations issued in car and pedestrian accident Monday morning

No citations were issued to either the driver or pedestrian involved in an accident Monday morning at Main and Oak streets.

Batavia PD investigators determined neither people were at fault because a third vehicle blocked the views of both the driver and the pedestrian.

Amber M. Richmond, of 20 Washington Ave., Batavia, suffered a broken leg in the accident.

The driver is identified as Mallory P. Frew, of 322 E. Main St., Attica.

The State Police assisted in the investigation.

Investigating officers were Chad Richards, Sgt. Eric Bolles, Thad Mart, Arick Perkins and Eric Hill.

Two-car crash with injuries, entrapment at Judge and Alleghany roads, Alabama

A two-car accident with injuries and entrapment is reported at Judge and Alleghany roads. Alabama and Oakfield fire departments are responding. Mercy Flight #7 out of Buffalo is on in-air standby.

UPDATE 7:30 p.m.: There are believed to be two minor injuries. Mercy Flight is cancelled, but Mercy medics are continuing, non-emergency, and two rigs are requested. Extrication equipment is no longer needed. Traffic at Route 77 and Judge Road is blocked.

UPDATE 7:42 p.m.: The second Mercy rig is cancelled.

UPDATE 7:54 p.m.: Oakfield is returning to service. Mercy medics are transporting patients(s) to ECMC.

UPDATE 8:04 p.m.: Alabama is back in service.

UPDATE 8:09 p.m.: The roads are reopened.

Head-on crash on Route 5 claims life of Pembroke resident

A Pembroke woman was pronounced dead at the scene of a head-on collision on Route 5 near the Erie County Line in Pembroke late this afternoon.

Mary J. Smith, 61, was westbound in a 2005 Chevrolet Cavalier when a 2011 Toyota Sienna minivan crossed the center line and struck her vehicle head-on on the driver's side.

Investigators have yet to determine why the eastbound Toyota veered from its own lane.

The Toyota's driver, Victoria A. Zimmer, 55, of Clarence, was seriously injured and taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC.

Smith is a relative of several members of the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, so members of the Akron Volunteer Fire Department handled critical aspects of the accident scene.

No charges have been filed. The accident remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were Indian Falls, Corfu and Darien's ambulance along with Mercy EMS.

The accident investigation is being handled by Deputy Chad Minuto, Sgt. Ron Meides, Investigator Roger Stone and Deputy John Duyssen.
