An accident involving a tractor-trailer and a car, unknown injuries, is reported at routes 20 and 63. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding. It is blocking traffic. State Troopers are also responding. Mercy Flight's availability is being checked.

UPDATE 7:12 p.m.: The semi is jackknifed. Mercy Flight 6 out of Batavia is available if needed. Two more ambulances are requested.

UPDATE 7:20 p.m.: Mercy Flight will not be needed. "Be advised the tractor-trailer is carrying potted flowers," says a responder.

UPDATE 7:37 p.m.: The trucker is from Ontario, Canada. Thus far, one person is being transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester.

UPDATE 7:40 p.m.: A second patient is transported to Strong.

During the execution of a search warrant Tuesday at a residence on Junction Road, Pavilion, investigators allegedly found a quantity of psilocybin mushrooms, a quantity of mushrooms and some drug paraphernalia.

The resident, Richard T. Bairton, 52, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the 5th degree.

The execution of the search warrant was handled by uniformed members of the Sheriff's Office and assisted by the Local Drug Enforcement Task Force.

Bairton was jailed on $25,000 bail.

A one-vehicle accident with minor injuries has been reported at Route 20 and Pavilion Center Road, Pavilion.

Robert Lee Hizer, of East Avon - Lima Road, Avon, is charged with: aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child in the vehicle under age 15 (Leandra's Law); driving while intoxicated; aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, 3rd; improper signal; and not wearing a seat belt. Following arraignment, Hizer was jailed on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. The charges stem from the 32-year-old's alleged robbery of a convenience store on Lake Street in Le Roy on the morning of June 23, and then leading police on a pursuit. He is scheduled to appear in Le Roy Town Court at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 9. The case was investigated by Deputy Jason E. Saile.

Eric R. Swede, 24, of Perry Road, Pavilion, was arrested by Wyoming County Sheriff's deputies at his home on June 26 on an outstanding warrant for a violation of probation. He was arraigned in the Town of Covington Court and committed to the Wyoming County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in the Covington courtroom on July 2 for further proceedings.

Kyle W. Nash, 24, of Route 5,  Stafford, is charged with criminal contempt, 2nd, for allegedly violating a stay away court order of protection which was issued June 25. The following day, he allegedly entered the residence of the protected person. He was issued an appearance ticket for July 3 in Stafford Town Court. The case was investigated by Deputy Frank Bordonaro.

State Police in Wyoming Country received a tip Friday that a woman was allegedly driving drunk with a 4-year-old in the car.

After checking the Town of Covington area, Troopers were informed the woman was heading to Top's Market in Le Roy.

Angela R. Kruse, 40, of Pavilion, was stopped at Tops and subsequently arrested.

State Police alleged Kruse was driving with a BAC of .14 and had a 4-year-old in the vehicle.

Kruse was transported to the Warsaw station for processing and the young girl was turned over to a childcare provider at the scene.

Following arraignment in Le Roy, Kruse was jailed on $1,000 bail.

The Wyoming County Sheriff's Office assisted in the initial investigation.

Timothy P. Brown, 37, of 10 Hutchins Place, rear, is charged with stalking, 4th. Brown is accused of repeatedly contacting a former friend after being told to stop contacting that person. Brown was allegedly texting the former friend after the former friend asked him to stop and after he was warned by police to have no further contact.

Maxwell Raymond Pfendler, 20, of South Lake Road, Pavilion, is charged with DWI, driving with a BAC of .18 or greater and unlawful possession of marijuana. Pfendler was stopped at 7:55 p.m. Saturday on Route 63, Batavia, for allegedly speeding by Deputy Matthew Butler.

Wayne H. Austin, 37, of Ivison Road, Byron, is charged with reckless endangerment, 2nd. Austin is accused of purposefully swerving his vehicle in the roadway at another vehicle.

Linda K. Garrettson, 55, of Wynanskill, is charged with possession or sale of unstamped cigarettes and possession and transport of 10,000 or more unstamped cigarettes; James A. Lapi, 60, of Palatine Bridge, is charged with possession and transport of 10,000 or more unstamped cigarettes. Garrettson and Lapi were arrested by State Police. Garrettson was taken into custody at the State Police Barracks in Batavia at 1:21 p.m. Friday, and Lapi was arrested on Bloomingdale Road at 10:15 a.m., Friday. Lapi was jailed on $700 bail.

A two-car head-on collision with at least one injury, unknown severity, is reported at Route 20 and Roanoke Road. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy EMS are responding. They are checking the availability of Mercy Flight.

UPDATE 1:16 p.m.: Mercy Flight 5 out of Batavia is put on ground standby.

UPDATE 1:19 p.m.: A female is injured and will require extrication. She is alert. Le Roy fire is also called. Mercy Flight is launching.

UPDATE 1:21 p.m.: Mercy Flight is on in-air standby.

UPDATE 1:25 p.m.: The driver of the second vehicle is alert. No word on injuries. Mercy Flight is called to the scene and will land in a freshly cut hay field south of the incident.

UPDATE 1:29 p.m.: The accident is not blocking traffic, but the roadway is shut down to handle the emergency. A State Trooper is on scene. Two flatbed tows are called.

UPDATE 1:40 p.m.: The patient has been extricated.

UPDATE 1:44 p.m.: Le Roy is back in service.

UPDATE 1:55 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne, heading to Strong Memorial Hospital.

UPDATE 1:58 p.m.: Pavilion and Mercy EMS are back in service.

Two dogs on River Road were rescued today from a home on River Road, Pavilion, after a fire ignited in the back of the manufactured home while the tenants were not home.

Steven Barnhardt, a neighbor, opened the unlocked front door, and even though the ceiling had black smoke rolling over it, entered the house, let the dogs out of their cages and then yelled to see if anybody was in the house.

"There was black smoke and flames coming out the back window and as soon as I got out, it started coming out of the roof," Barnhardt said.

The fire appears to have started in a rear bedroom and was possibly related to an electrical issue, though no appliances were believed to be running at the time the fire started.

Besides the dogs, two cats were saved, though as of 6 p.m., one was still missing.

While the dogs ran off from the fire scene, they returned later and were reunited with their owners.

The residence is owned by Matthew Janis and his tenants were Cory Harkness and Chelsea Zeluff.

Pavilion Chief Paul Dougherty said that even though the response was quick and most of the house was saved, given the type of construction, it's probably a total loss.

"It's probably easier to move another manufactured dwelling here than reconstruct this one," Dougherty said.

The property is valued at $61,000.

Dougherty said the black smoke from the fire was visible from some distance away and when chiefs arrived on scene, there was fire coming from two back windows and from under the eaves.

The biggest difficulty firefighters faced was the flimsy nature of the floor of the manufactured house.

"A hole was already burned through the floor in one of the rooms," Dougherty said. "Fortunately, there is no basement, so the first guy or two just kind of settled through the floor and they were able to to get themselves out and continue with the suppression."

Mutual aid at the scene included Stafford, Bethany, Batavia's Fast Team, Le Roy, Alexander, Lester, York, Perry, Perry Center and Wyoming.

Dougherty said due to the lack of public water in the area, Pavilion needed the assistance of several of the surrounding department's tankers and crews to help with the water supply.

Genesee County Emergency Services assisted at the scene and with the investigation.

Deputy Brad Mazur is assisting in the investigation.

A house fire is reported in Pavilion at 11039 River Road. Fire departments from Pavilion, Stafford, Bethany are responding along with the city's Fast Team. Le Roy firefighters will stand in at Pavilion's hall. A lot of smoke is showing. The location is off Route 63.

UPDATE 5:23 p.m.: More help is on the way from Alexander, Lester, York, Perry, Perry Center and Wyoming.

UPDATE 5:28 p.m.: Fire police from Le Roy are called to the scene for traffic control. Medics are also called, including some from Livingston County. The home is unoccupied.

UPDATE 5:36 p.m.: National Grid is called. Firefighters are trying to shut off the natural gas line now. Several minutes ago, a person described as the homeowner was said to be running up to the house on foot.

UPDATE 5:38 p.m.: At least a portion of the fire has been knocked down.

UPDATE 5:46 p.m.: As firefighters continue to battle the blaze, they are also on the scout for two cats and one kitten that live inside the house.

UPDATE 5:48 p.m.: One of the cats was seen running from the scene and the homeowner has been told this.

UPDATE 5:52 p.m.: With the exception of medics, all responders from Wyoming and Livingston counties are put back in service.

UPDATE 5:53 p.m.: The fire is out. Crews are outside the structure now, rehabing the scene. Alexander and York are also put back in service. Investigators can start their investigation.

UPDATE 6 p.m.: Stafford and Perry are released from the scene. The American Red Cross is called to provide assistance to the residents.

UPDATE 6:04 p.m.: As for the cats, one remains unaccounted for, one is hiding under the house and refuses to be coaxed out. One was rescued after it scampered away from the tumult.

UPDATE 6:08 p.m.: National Grid is on location to shut off the power.

UPDATE 7:35 p.m.: Pavilion back in service.

A 64-year-old Wyoming Steuben County resident whose pickup truck struck a tree in Pavilion is in satisfactory condition at Strong Memorial Hospital, where he was taken by Mercy Flight following the accident at 4:19 p.m., Sunday.

Kentin P. Dana, of Veterans Avenue, Bath, apparently suffered a medical condition, which led to the accident.

Dana was southbound on Route 63 when his 2000 Ford pickup went off the road and struck a tree.

Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy EMS responded and found Dana semiconscious in his vehicle.

The accident was invested by Deputy Cory Mower.

A motor vehicle has struck a tree at 6969 Big Tree Road in Pavilion. One person is said to be unresponsive. Pavilion Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.

UPDATE 4:30 p.m.: The male driver is responsive, but lethargic. The engine of his pickup truck is smoking. Mercy Flight is on in-air standby.

UPDATE 4:34 p.m.: The driver is said not to know where he is or how he got there. The location is between East Park Street and York Road.

UPDATE 4:38 p.m.: Mercy Flight is en route from Buffalo and the ETA is about 10 minutes. The 4-wheel drive truck has extensive front-end damage. Mercy Flight's landing zone will be set up at the high school.

UPDATE 4:58 p.m.: Mercy Flight is on the ground. A responder has asked for assistance with traffic control.

UPDATE 5:07 p.m.: Mercy Flight is airborne, but we didn't hear its destination. Mercy medics are back in service.

UPDATE 5:14 p.m.: The Pavilion assignment is back in service.

A 22-year-old woman apparently suffered serious injuries in an ATV accident Monday night but she and her companion did not seek immediate medical assistance, according to the Genesee County Sheriff's Office.

The woman is now in intensive care at Erie County Medical Center.

Ashley B. Jones was a passenger at 11:30 p.m., Monday, on an ATV driven by Eric Swede, 23, as the couple rode on a driveway off Rogers Road, Pavilion.

The couple was northbound on the gravel driveway when the ATV struck some trees and both were ejected.

Swede suffered head and hand injuries.

Jones suffered face and head injuries.

By Tuesday, her condition worsened and she was driven by private vehicle to UMMC. From there she was taken by Mercy Flight to ECMC.

The investigation is ongoing and is being conducted by Sgt. Steven Mullen and Deputy John Baiocco.

Steven Carnell McKnight, 18, of 14th Street, Buffalo, is charged with burglary, 2nd. McKnight is accused of breaking into a residence on Batavia Elba Townline Road, Batavia, on Dec. 15. The Monroe County Crime Lab has reportedly matched blood found at the scene with McKnight. The home on Batavia Elba Townline Road suffered damage to exterior French doors, a rear window, and a table and desktop computer. The only items reported missing were a complete Nintendo Wii system with games and two hutch drawers containing old mobile phones and odds and ends. McKnight is currently awaiting sentencing on a burglary charge from a break-in in the Town of Pembroke on Dec. 14. 

Andrew John Sprague, 33, of State Street, Batavia, is charged to failure to report change of address. Sprague is a registered sex offender and allegedly failed to report a change of address.

Al Davids, 42, of Bird Road, Byron, is charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a residence. The alleged incident was reported at 6:58 p.m., Monday.

Paul Edward Reynolds, 57, of Rose Road, Batavia, is charged with felony DWI, felony driving with a BAC of .18 or greater, following too close, leaving scene of property damage accident and operating without proof of insurance. Reynolds is accused of following another vehicle too closely and then rear-ending that vehicle at the intersection of Rose Road and Wortendyke Road at 4:20 p.m., Saturday. Reynolds allegedly failed to produce an appropriate exchange of information and then left the scene. Sheriff's deputies allegedly located him and his Toyota pickup a short time later at his residence.

Jordan-Albert Grayson Finnin, 16, of West Main Street Road, Batavia, is charged with attempted assault, 2nd. Finnin is accused of trying to stab a DSS youth worker during a home visit. Finnin was jailed on $10,000 bail.

Joshua Lanair Webster, 25, of York Road, Pavilion, is charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance. Webster is accused of illegally possessing hydrocodone on April 16 while being arrested on a burglary charge. Webster was arrested on the new charge Friday while already being detained in the Genesee County Jail on prior charges.

Michael J. Elmore, 21, of 148 Walnut St., Batavia, is charged with criminal mischief, 4th. Elmore is accused of damaging another person's vehicle.

Christopher James Gorman, 20, of Darien, is charged with possession/consumption of alcohol under 21. Gorman was allegedly found in possession of alcohol after being involved in an off-road motor-vehicle accident at 8:10 p.m., April 30.

Dakota Dean Roberts, 20, of Darien, is charged with possession/consumption of alcohol under 21. Roberts was allegedly found in possession of alcohol after being involved in an off-road motor-vehicle accident at 8:10 p.m., April 30.

Keith E. Robinson-Blue, 19, of Rugby Road, Rochester and Shawn D. R. Phillips Jr., 20, of Bartlett Street, Rochester, are charged with trespass. No details were released.

Charlene Anastasia, 40, with no permanent address, Batavia, is charged with criminal trespass, 3rd. Anastasia was allegedly located inside a locked storage facility and was there without permission of the owner. Anastasia was jailed on $500 bail.

Veronica Paula Barajas, 17, of Albion, is charged with petit larceny. Barajas is accused of shoplifting from Kmart.

Victoria Marie Fleck, 18, of Albion, is charged with petit larceny. Fleck is accused of shoplifting from Kmart.
