Stafford Carnival grounds flooded, no fun tonight

By Howard B. Owens

Organizers of the Stafford Carnival have canceled festivities for tonight. Just about everything -- including the beer tent -- is flooded.

Jamie Call said everything will be ready to go by tomorrow, however.

JAMIE AND CREW OF CARNIVAL YOU GUYS ARE GETTING OLD !!!!!!!
BACK IN THE DAY WE WOULD SELL THE MUD FROM THE BEER TENT AND HAD A GOOD TIME SLOSHING AROUND WATCHING THE MUD WRESTLING EVENTS.
NO YOU GET OLD AND THINK YOU GONNA MELT AND CANCEL THE EVENTS .
SHOULD BE LIKE NASCAR AND RUN AN EXTRA DAY 1/2 PRICE ON MONDAY TO REDUCE SOME OF THE WASTES.
JUST JOKIN ..
THE STAFFORD CREW IS THE BEST !!!!!
BUT THINK ABOUT MONDAY?

Naw, new lake was off Wortendyke Road.
Oops!! Sorry!! That was Nu Lake.
Yeah, I don't even remember a Stafford Carnival that didn't have a 'slip-n-slide'!
That was half the fun. That, and waiting all night to find out you DIDN'T win the car.

In my younger days, I remember drinking beer under the canvas ankle deep in mud, trying to stay on the hay to stay dry. One carnival about twenty five years ago, it was so cold that we all had to bundle up in our Winter's clothing. I may have slowed us down, but it did not stop us. And yes I remember in 2008 going home on Sunday's Jamboree thinking I didn't stand a chance in Hell to win the car, only to receive a call that night that my ticket was chosen; a one in a million shot.

There's always those who believe they're not drunk but most are smart enough to come with a DD now. If not we will find them a ride home if needed. The goal is for a safe and fun weekend for the attendees while helping with the operating budget to ensure great fire/ems service to the town of Stafford and mutual aid throughout the county. So come join the fun and mud this weekend!
