Weather: Warming trend hitting town

By Howard B. Owens

Only in Western New York could people be excited about a warming trend that's going to lift the temperature to 30 degrees, but a "warming trend" starts Tuesday.

The high over the next four days is expected to range from 27 degrees to 31 degrees.

That's a big improvement over the minus-0 degrees we've had the past couple of days.

There is a chance of snow tomorrow afternoon and could be as much as one inch of accumulation Tuesday night and a chance of more snow on Wednesday.

But 30 degrees? Break out the short sleeve shirts!

Howard, You can still see the advertising painted on side of the barn. Back in "the day" there were so many barns along highways that had this. When I was young most were pretty faded already. Not sure who approached the barn owners or how much they got for letting them paint on their barns, perhaps someone knows some of the history and could share.

I saw that barn every day on the school bus, from the time I was in kindergarten and on. That was starting in 1985, and it was already wearing away back then...I'm surprised that any of the advertisement is still visible, considering that side faces west.
