A hit-and-run accident was reported at Jackson and Ellicott Street about 10 minutes ago. No injuries. A black SUV struck a gray For pickup truck and left the scene, headed eastbound on Ellicott, when it turned left on Liberty Street.
The black SUV was located behind Wortzman Furniture store unoccupied and Batavia police are out with it now.
There was minor passenger-side fender damage to the gray pickup.
The suspect vehicle is missing its front grill, among other damage (see photo above).
The investigation is continuing.
UPDATE 12:11 p.m., Saturday: Det. Eric Hill said officers were able to locate the vehicle last night because he was able to review the video recording from the police department camera at Ellicott and Liberty streets. The vehicle was seen on the video turning from Ellicott onto Liberty and heading into a parking lot off of Liberty. As far as Hill knew, as of this morning, the suspect had not yet been located.
A minor injury accident is reported on West Main Street at Woodrow Road, Batavia.
Mercy EMS asked to respond to evaluate a child.
The accident is blocking.

UPDATE 3:41 p.m.: The turn lane and one eastbound and one westbound lane are blocked.
A vehicle rollover accident with serious injuries is reported at Byron and Griswold Road in Stafford. Stafford Fire Department and Le Roy ambulance are responding. Byron ambulance is also called.
UPDATE 4:41 p.m.: Four people were injured -- two people each in two vehicles -- and all were taken to area hospitals. This was not a rollover accident. Preliminary indications are that a silver SUV was traveling on Griswold Road and it failed to stop at the intersection with Byron Road, hitting a black SUV head-on. The most serious injury -- a compound ankle fracture -- was suffered by the passenger of the silver SUV. Two Mercy rigs and one ambulance each from Bryon and Le Roy responded. The investigation is pending.
A two-car accident with unknown injuries is reported at 8132 Buffalo Road, in front of the 7-Eleven, in Bergen.

An accident with minor injuries is causing traffic to slow in the eastbound lane of the Thruway near mile marker 386.7 in Le Roy.
Two vehicles involved.

A motor-vehicle accident is reported in the of 8087 Kelsey Road, just north of the Thruway, Town of Batavia.

A two-car minor injury accident is reported at Batavia Stafford Townline Road and Assembly R. Stephen Hawley Road.

A tanker from O-AT-KA Milk Products Cooperative Inc. started leaking as it drove down Ellicott Street, west of Jackson Avenue, at about 3 p.m. and as a result, the westbound lanes of Ellicott, between Jackson and Court, have been closed since.
The cleanup work is nearly done and the roadway should reopen shortly.
The tanker was carrying production waste product, which can be used by farmers for dairy feed or spread on crop fields.
A two-car accident with injuries and air-bag deployment is reported at West Main and River streets. It was a rear-ender. it is blocking traffic. Batavia Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.
A motor-vehicle accident is blocking traffic at Route 33 and Wortendyke Road. Minor injuries reported. East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics are responding.
Two cars and a fuel truck collided at Pearl Street Road and Wortendyke Road. The fuel truck is leaking. East Pembroke Fire Department and Mercy medics #1 and #2 are responding.
UPDATE 12:40 p.m.: Injuries are reported. The tanker rolled over. Town of Batavia Fire Police are called to shut down Route 33 east of Wortendyke; Corfu Fire Police are to close 33 west of Wortendyke.
UPDATE 12:44 p.m.: The county's Hazmat Team is called to stand by at county facilities.
UPDATE 12:49 p.m.: Alexander Fire Department is asked to shut down northbound Wortendyke Road at Rose Road.
UPDATE 1:15 p.m.: Preliminary indications are that a gray vehicle and a white van were involved in an accident on Pearl Street Road west of Wortendyke and the driver of a semi-truck hauling gasoline tried to avoid the accident by swerving. The tanker overturned. It is leaking its own fuel, but not the cargo of gasoline. One person was transported to UMMC with non-life-threatening injuries; two others were sign-offs.
Investigators have yet to determine why a 2015 BMW driven by 61-year-old Syed L. Rahman, of Williamsville, crossed the center line and crashed into an ambulance from the Bethany Fire Department on Route 63 just before midnight Saturday.
Rahman was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Don Coleman.
A heavy rainstorm was passing through the area at the time of the crash. There's a slight curve in the road near the area of the crash scene.
Rahman was northbound on Ellicott Street Road. The ambulance, driven by volunteer medic James L. Duval, 65, of Bethany, was southbound. The ambulance and three-person crew were returning to the Bethany station after handling an earlier EMS call. Since the crew wasn't on a call, the ambulance was not in emergency mode, no lights or siren, and was not carrying a patient.
Duval and crew members Christopher Page and Melody Davis, all volunteers, were not seriously injured but were transported to UMMC for evaluation and treatment.
Duval, is the former Genesee County planning director. He retired in 2012 after 36 years as a county employee.
The accident investigation is being handled by Deputy Andrew Mullen. Assisting at the scene were Chief Deputy Joseph Graff, Investigator Chad Minuto, Sgt. John Baiocco, Sgt. Jason Saile, the Bethany Fire Department, Stafford Fire Department, Town of Batavia Fire Department, and Mercy EMS.
A serious injury accident involving a car and an ambulance is reported in the area of 5566 Ellicott Street Road, Bethany.

UPDATE 1:30 a.m.: Route 63 is closed between Bethany Center Road and Paul Road. It will likely remain closed for a couple of more hours.
UPDATE 3:35 a.m.: We can now confirm this is a fatal accident. The victim was the driver of a sedan, heading northbound on Route 63, that crossed the center line in heavy rain and struck a southbound Bethany Volunteer Fire Department ambulance. The driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene by Coronor Don Coleman. The ambulance was returning to the Bethany Fire Hall after responding to an earlier call and was not carrying a patient. A three-person crew was aboard the ambulance. All three were taken to UMMC for evaluation of non-serious injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Crash Management Team. The Sheriff's Office will release the name of the victim later this morning. We are withholding publication of photos from the scene until after the name is released.

UPDATE 9:28 p.m.: A driver has a complaint of being dazed. The vehicles have minor damage and are off the road. One of the Town of Batavia units can go back in service.
A car crashed into a tree off eastbound Route 490 near mile marker 2.4. Injuries are reported.
Bergen fire and Le Roy fire are called to respond along with Le Roy Ambulance Service.
UPDATE 3:39 p.m.: Injuries were said to be minor; but one victim is said to be losing consciousness. Mercy medics are called.

A motorcycle accident with serious injuries is reported in Byron at 6153 Searls Road. The location is between Cook Road and North Byron Road. Mercy Flight is on ground standby. Byron and South Byron fire departments are responding along with Mercy medics.
A two-car accident with injuries, in which one vehicle rolled over, is reported at 5380 Fotch Road, Stafford.
The location is between Byron Road and Byron -- Stafford Townline Road.

UPDATE 8:18 p.m.: Town of Batavia Fire Department is called mutual aid to respond to the Stafford accident.
A bicyclist was struck and injured by a vehicle at 20 Main St. in Le Roy -- in front of the U.S. Post Office. The bicyclist and driver are now in the parking lot of the old Bank of America building nearby. Le Roy Ambulance Service is on scene. Le Roy Fire Department is called to respond.
UPDATE 3:03 p.m.: A 19-year-old male is being transported with minor injuries to UMMC. He is conscious and alert and has a small cut on his ear and shoulder abrasions.
A one-vehicle rollover accident is reported at 9647 Creek Road, between Putnam and Old Creek roads, Bethany. A first responder on scene says the 34-year-old male driver is out of the vehicle, which landed off the roadway in a cornfield.
He is standing up because he says "it hurts too much to lay down." He is complaining of right shoulder pain. Bethany Fire Department and fire police are responding; Mercy medics just arrived.
