Honesty check: How many that voted yes have used their cellphone while driving in the past 30 days? I'm betting most.
Did anybody notice that distracted driving is OK if the state makes money on it? Every McDonalds on the Thruway has a drive up window, so doing 70 MPH eating a sloppy Big Mac is fine, but use of my phone is not.
Maybe we should not be allowed to change the radio station or change the CD we are listening to. Small children should be banned from vehicles too. We all know how distracting they can be! While we're at it, all passengers should be outlawed - conversation is distracting.
From this point on, all trees, hills, and natural beauty should be removed from sight. The beautiful scenery in western NY should not be diverting our attention for that split second.
The list of distractions is endless, so maybe the safest thing to do would be to ban all vehicles from highways!
Bob, we should ban having other people in the car with you, including your children. Wouldn't want to be distracted talking to another person or answering one more "why" question from your kids. Basically, if a trooper sees your lips moving, he should be able to pull you over, wouldn't you agree?
But will there be the probable cause to stop you if you're daydreaming?
Well they are talking about baning smoking in your house or car. More and more people what to but into our lives and tell us how to live and what to do. Where does personal responsibilty fit in?
Gee Eric take a look at the subject of the poll.....then look to the comments about police being able to use cell phones while we cant.... then look at what is posted. Maybe you can figure it out.
Kyle I understand, ,I constantly see police on their cell phones and wonder if they had special training to make them exempt. I tried to share a story that i thought would be of interest to other members, I was trying to get Howard to add a link so we could read blogs from each other. Only person i was after was the Dictator,,,, guess i'll be banned now.
I voted yes and I never use a cell phone when I am driving and I survive very well without it. I do have onstar with the phone enabled, but I want to say that I have used it while in motion possibly 3 times in the year and a half I have used it. When I am in a car, my concentration is on getting myself and hopefully the others that are sharing the road with me safely to our destinations.
I don't see why it is so hard to put that cell away from your head when you are driving, especially us older folks who drove even before there was such a thing as a cell phone.
I have said over and over again that they need to have a chip installed in cells that would block their usage in cars, then maybe people would do what they are legally supposed to do, pull over, park your car and then talk, even if it means having to get out of the car to get reception.
We already have a law against
We already have a law against driving dangerously.
