An undercover Batavia police officer posing as a 15-year-old boy has led to the arrest of 44-year-old Dalton E. Wilke, of Conesus, who has been charged with persuading or enticing a minor to engage in sexual activity. Wilke could face between 10 years and life in prison and a fine of up to $250,000. He was detained Friday.

Wilke is alleged to have engaged with the undercover officer in online chats between March and August, during which he made arrangements to meet with the 15-year-old in Batavia to engage in sexual activity. He was apprehended in Batavia while travelling to meet the individual he believed to be the 15-year-old boy.

Craig E. Pokornowski, 18, of Buffalo, was charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon Friday, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Deputies were told that Pokornowski was involved in a domestic incident at a home on Route 20 in the town of Darien that evening and was allegedly later discovered to be in possession of metal knuckles.

Philip S. Hall, 21, of 313 Bank St., Batavia, was charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Hall was stopped by deputies on Route 33 in the town of Batavia. He was also ticketed with operating with more than three passengers in the front seat.

Cory W. Swimline, 23, of Pembroke, was charged with driving while inoxicated early Saturday morning, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said.  Swimline was stopped by deputies on Route 5 in the town of Batavia. He was also ticketed with failure to keep right and possession of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle.

Eric M. Doud, 33 of Stafford, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt Wednesday, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Doud allegedly violated an order of protection during a domestic dispute in Batavia. He was sent to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $250 bail.

Joseph R. Lantz, 21, of Perry, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt Thursday, city police said. Lantz allegedly violated an order of protection by visiting a residence on Main Street in Batavia.

Batavia and Genesee County should wrap up the paperwork side of the dispatch consolidation of the county sheriff's office and the city police department, according to the Daily News. Meanwhile, most of the work is done, and the dispatchers at police headquarters on Main Street are set to move to the sheriff's headquarters on Park Road September 1.

Reporter Paul Mrozek writes: "The draft of the contract calls for a 20-year agreement (between the city and the county), with both sides having the power to opt out with notice to the other party."

The City Council should vote to approve the contract at its meeting on August 18, expecting the county to follow suit.

An investigation into the impersonation of a state police investigator has yielded an arrest for troopers in Clarence. Patrick T. Fuhr, 49, of Franklinville, was charged with five counts of second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument and first-degree criminal impersonation, both felony counts. Investigators were alerted to the potential impersonation when an area rental car agency reported "a suspicious subject attempting to obtain a billing account for rental cars." That "subject" had identified himself as police officer Patrick T. Frank, a senior investigator with the New York State Courts Domestic Abuse Unit.

Police allegedly found Fuhr in possession of counterfeit identification cards that bore the identity of the fictitious officer Frank. It is alleged that Fuhr used the false identity to obtain approximately 22 rental cars from a different rental car agency.

Investigation continues, and further charges are pending.

Meanwhile, troopers in Boston, N.Y., are looking for information related to the theft of a safe from the Land Masters Group landscaping company, located at 3021 Transit Road in Elma. The incident occurred between the hours of 3:00pm, Sunday, and 7:00am, Monday. Anyone with information should contact the state police in Boston at (716) 941-9300.

In Batavia, the Genesee County Local Drug Taskforce announced an arrest made Friday at the home of Jeffrey Plath, 44, of 12 Hutchins Place, Batavia. Plath is accused of selling handguns, which he legally possessed, to individuals who did not have gun permits in exchange for money or illegal drugs. An undercover member of the taskforce purchased one handgun from Plath. Another was recovered in the city of Rochester. The county force was joined in the investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms in Rochester, where Plath will be tried on federal charges.

Genesee County sheriff's deputies reported the arrest of a Batavian man on a felony count of second-degree criminal possession of marijuana today. Randy L. Leach, 22, of 612 Ellicott St., was apprehended by deputies at the intersection of West Main Street and Vernon Avenue in the city. Leach was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped around 2:30am this morning. Deputies allegedly found him in possession of 22 ounces of marijuana.

The driver of the vehicle, Thomas J. Mitchell, 19, of 29 Walnut St., was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and third-degree unlicensed operator. Deputies allege that Mitchell does not have a New York driver's license. He was also ticketed with unawlful possession of marijuana, unlicensed operator, unlawful tint and improper left turn.

Charles J. Wride, 21, of Bergen, was charged with second-degree reckless endangerment Friday relating to an incident on July 19 in the village, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Wride is accused of backing out of a driveway while someone was standing in the way of the car door.

David M. Hinkson, 53, of 5163 Sunset Terrace, Batavia, was charged with driving while intoxicated Saturday afternoon, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Hinkson was stopped on Route 33 near the intersection with Route 5. He was also ticketed with failure to stop for stop sign and depositing refuse upon the highway.

Joseph Beszczynski IV, 22, of Darien, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana early this morning, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Beszczynski was stopped on South Main Street in Batavia for driving without front or rear license plates. His vehicle was subsequently searched, and police allegedly found marijuana and a smoking pipe.

State police reported the arrest of Michael A. Soliday, 30, of Niagara Falls, Monday in the town of Lewiston. Soliday was stopped on Route 31 shortly after 9:30pm and discovered to be driving without a license and allegedly under the influence. He was charged with driving while intoxicated and second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

When police searched Soliday's vehicle, they allegedly discovered more than 20 ounces of marijuana, hydrocodone tablets, codeine pills and a hypodermic needle.

Soliday was subsequently charged with a felony count of criminal possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and two counts of criminally possessing a hypodermic instrument. He was sent to Niagara County Jail on $5,000 bail.

Batavia city police charged 33-year-old Jodylynn Wetmore, of 33 Dellinger Ave., with second-degree reckless endangerment Wednesday afternoon. Police were told that Wetmore drove into someone standing in a driveway.

That same night, the Genesee County Local Drug Enforcement Task Force searched the apartment of 29-year-old Joshua S. Gaylord at 11 Wood St. (Lower), in Batavia, and allegedly found a third of an ounce of cocaine. He was charged with one felony count of third-degree and another of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Officers then searched the upper apartment of 30-year-old Aaron J. Gaylord and allegedly found about an ounce of marijuana. Aaron Gaylord was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

Genesee County's Local Drug Enforcement Task Force reported the arrest of a Batavia man for drug possession. Thrity-one-year-old Terry E. Smith, of 27 Dellinger Ave, was charged with a felony count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance last night. Smith was stopped on Fisher Park in Batavia and found allegedly in possession of nearly an ounce of cocaine. He was also charged with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation.

Smith was sent to Genesee County Jail without bail.

A pair of road checks set up Friday night by Genesee County sheriff's deputies in Stafford and Bergen yielded 25 "uniform traffic tickets," the arrest of four illegal aliens, who were then given into the custody of the U.S. Border Patrol, and the following seven arrests:

• Wesley E. Baun, 51, of Bergen, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
• Steven P. Alvarez, 42, of Brockport, was charged with driving while intoxicated.
• James C. Whitcroft, 18, of Webster, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
• Adam T. Shipwash, 28, of Greece, was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance.
• Michael R. Cole, 27, of Elba, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
• Markel L. Hill, 19, of Medina, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
• Anthony F. Leonardo III, 27, of Spencerport, was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.

Alan B. Costa, 64, of Rochester, was charged with driving while intoxicated, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana, deputies said. Costa was stopped by deputies early Saturday morning on Route 98 in Alexander. He was also ticketed with speeding, moving from the lane unsafely and refusal to submit to a breath screening device. Costa was sent to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $1,000.

Batavia city police reported the arrest of Mary F. Hicks, of 35 Clinton St., Batavia, who was charged with driving while intoxicated after Hicks drove into the rear of another vehicle that was stopped in traffic.

1:15pm:

Reports have come in of a truck that crashed into a pole on Route 98 north of Peaviner Road. Genesee County sheriff's deputies have confirmed that wires are down across the road on Route 98 in that area. Motorists are advised to find an alternate route or expect delays.

• Nineteen-year-old Anthony S. Molaro, of Alabama, faces several felony charges following an investigation into an incident that occurred on June 28, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Deputies were told that Molaro violated an order of protection by allegedly locking a person in a car and forcing conversation by threats. Molaro was charged with first-degree criminal contempt, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and first-degree coercion.
• Genesee County sheriff's deputies reported several arrests made at the Motley Crew concert at Darien Lake last night. Three men were charged with second-degree harassment, and all three were accused of punching or otherwise attacking security officers at the concert. They were: Andrew D. Bolya, 26, of Franklinville; Joseph J. Manners, 23, of Kenmore; and Brian M. Slater, 35, of Syracuse. Bolya, 26, of Franklinville, was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana.
• Amber L. Knapp, 22, of Oakfield was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, second-degree criminal trespass and petit larceny yesterday afternoon, city police said. Knapp was accused of entering and taking something from a Summit Street residence in Batavia that she had been barred from entering per a court order.

• Timothy E. Talmon, 48, of Darien Center, was charged with driving while intoxicated following a traffic stop on Route 77 in Corfu Wednesday, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said.
• George Lee Williams, 28, was charged with failure to register as a sex offender, a class-D felony, sheriff's deputies said. Williams, who is listed as a transient with no known home address, was picked up by deputies Wednesday on Upton Road following reports that Williams had been trespassing. He was also charged with second-degree criminal trespass and false personation. Williams was sent to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.
• Alfred C. Gray, 22, of Batavia, was charged with a felony count of first-degree criminal contempt, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and two counts second-degree harassment following reports that he was in an alleged physical confrontation Thursday with a female acquaintance who had an order of protection, city police said.
• Eighteen-year-old Brittany Y. Myers, of Rochester, was charged with a felony count of second-degree assault Thursday, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. An investigation into an incident on June 15 led to deputies to suspect that Myers struck another female in the head with a glass liquor bottle during a fight at a party in Alexander that night. The victim had to be taken to the hospital where she received "numerous" stitches.
• Mitchell K. Milroy, 22, of Pavilion, was charged with a felony count of first-degree attempted sexual abuse Thursday, sheriff's deputies said. Milroy was accused of allegedly attempting to touch a female while she was sleeping.
• Charles E. Dodson Jr., 53, of Byron, was charged with driving while intoxicated in addition to a felony count of first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator Friday, city police said. Dodson Jr. had previously had his license suspended due to a DWI conviction.
• Rebecca J. Sando, 43, of Byron, was charged with a felony count of second-degree identity theft Friday, sheriff's deputies said. Sando was accused of using her sister-in-law's bank card in April to make online purchases that exceeded $550.
• Twenty-five-year-old Renee K. Wapniewski, of 17 Pringle Ave., Batavia, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt Friday, city police said. Wapniewski had allegedly violted a stay away order of protection.
• Twelve youths were found at the Kelsey Road Pits early Sunday morning and charged with possession of alcohol with intent to consume, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Deputies responded to the scene of the "underage drinking party" following reports that a 15-year-old boy had fell into the fire burning his hands.
• Michelle F. Wimble, 26, of Corfu, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs and endangering the welfare of a child Sunday following a traffic stop on Route 5 in Batavia, sheriff's deputies said. A motorist told deputies that Wimble was driving erratically with her three-year-old child in the vehicle.
• Timothy J. Slotta, 31, of South Carolina, was charged with driving while intoxicated in addition to a felony county of first-degree aggravated unlicensed operator early Sunday morning following a traffic stop in the village of Corfu, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Deputies found that Slotta had three other suspensions on his state driving privileges, one of which pertained to an alcohol-related charge. Slotta was sent to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $15,000 bail.

Michael J. Robbins, 49, of 20 Thorpe St., Batavia, was charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs or alcohol late last night following a traffic stop on Stegmann Road in the town, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Robbins was also ticketed with consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and unlicensed operator.

Genesee County sheriff's deputies were kept busy on the roads this past weekend.

• Thomas J. Foster III, 20, of Clarendon, was charged with driving while intoxicated Friday night after he was stopped for speeding on Route 19 in LeRoy, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said.
• Deputies joined with Corfu police to set up a DWI checkpoint in the village Friday. Six motorists were charged with driving while intoxicated: Kelly A. Honsberger, 39, of Clarence Center; John E. Mielko, 51, of Lancaster; Jeremy L. Snover, 31, of North Collins; Dwight A. Clark, 25, of Cheektowaga; Corey R. Blair, 28, of Rochester; Marcella M. Kaminski, 55, of Depew.
• Chantal M. Labelle, 42, of Rochester, was charged with driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning after she was stopped on Route 33 for making an unsafe lane change, sheriff's deputies said.
• Dennis J. Mills, 45, of Varysburg, was charged with a felony count of first-degree aggravated operation of a motor vehicle Saturday morning following a traffic stop on County Line Road in Darien, sheriff's deputies said. The charge was a felony because Mills was driving with a license that had been revoked due to prevous DWI convictions. He was also ticketed with drivig while ability impaired by alcohol, moving from the lane unsafely, failure to submit to a breath screening device, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and speeding.

• Genesee County "officials" told reporter Paul Mrozek that the investigation into the murder of Janet Kirkup will focus on Darien or Pembroke. Robert Kirkup recently confessed to the murder of his wife, Janet, during a cross-country trip in 1992, and it is believed that her body is buried somewhere near a campsite in Darien. Genesee County District Attorney Lawrence Friedman said that the cause of death "may be strangulation." The search for the body has not yet begun.
• Batavia Downs celebrated the grand opening of its new restaurant, Grandstands, on Thursday. Reporter Tom Rivers was there to get some color and chat with the officials about the Downs' continued success. In a sidebar to the story, it's reported that the Downs recently warranted a check from the state for $286,274, "money that will be used to offset some proerty taxes." It sounds as if the money goes to the communities: to the county, the city and the town. The city is supposed to get nearly $500,000, and the town should receive a little more than $175,000. I wonder how that works. Where does that money come from? Tom Rivers and Paul Mrozek write that the state gives money to "host communities with video gaming centers." Doesn't that sound strange? Hey, community, good job promoting gambling, here's some cash to do with what you please. Am I being too cynical or misunderstanding this?
• "Officials" from Genesee and Orleans counties had "the beginning of a discussion" about potentially creating a regional jail. It seems people are interested in talking about it, but little else is really decided at this point.

Forty-two-year-old Raymond J. Radley, of Pavilion, was arrested and sent to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail late last night, sheriff's deputies said. Radley was charged with first-degree coercion, a felony charge, and second-degree harassment. Deputies were told that Radley kicked a woman in the head, then took her cell phone so that she could not call for help. The attack happened during a domestic dispute at Radley's home on Cook Road in Pavilion.

Genesee County sheriff's deputies reported several arrests this week:

• Twenty-year-old Oakfield resident Jeffrey M. Johnson is in jail on $10,000 bail following a charge of first-degree rape levied by Genesee County sheriff's deputies Wednesday. Johnson has been accused of having forcible intercourse with a female acquaintance at his home in Oakfield. The investigation is ongoing.
• Michael B. Collier Jr., 16, of Albion, was charged with third-degree burglary Wednesday, sheriff's deputies said. Collier is suspected of being involved in a burglary at Monroe Tractor on Oak Orchard Road in the town of Batavia that happened in the early morning hours between Tuesday and Wednesday. He was sent to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bail. Additional charges are pending further investigation.
• Mark C. Johnson, 46, and his son, Scott R. Johnson, 18, both of Oakfield, were charged with unlawful possession of marijuana at their home Wednesday, sheriff's deputies said.

Genesee County sheriff's deputies got a call late Sunday night that a fight had broken out at the Dreamland Trailer Park on Route 5 in Batavia. Once they got to the scene, they were told that following the fight, Jared E. Flaming, 21, of Corfu, had allegedly thrown someone to the ground, then drove his vehicle into a home in the park.

There was no mention in the release of how much damage was done to the home, if any.

Flaming was charged with second-degree harassment and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was sent to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $750 bail.

The following arrests were reported over the weekend:

• Adam M. Zastrocky, 23, of Bergen, was charged with aggaravated driving while intoxicated Friday night, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Zastrocky was stopped on Lake Avenue in Bergen and ticketed with driving without a front license plate.
• Dietrich Williams, 26, of 541 E. Main St. (Apt. A18), Batavia, was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny and third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle Friday evening, city police said. Police were told that Williams had failed to return a rental vehicle.
• Kathy A. Lamotte, 50, of Stafford, was charged with second-degree harassment Saturday afternoon following reports that Lamotte had allegedly yelled at and thrown a rock at a homeowner, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Lamotte then left the area and was later charged by the LeRoy Police with driving while intoxicated.
• Several charges were filed at the Tom Petty concert at Darien Lake Saturday night. Genesee County sheriff's deputies charged Alan Frankosky, 26, of Tonawanda, and Zachary M. Rodriguez, 20, of Buffalo, with trespass. Timothy W. Stillwell, 24, of Trumansburg, was charged with second-degree harassment. Nicholas A. Todaro, 18, of Cheektowaga, was charged with disorderly conduct, as was Michael J. Grammariello, 21, of Palmyra, who was also charged with false impersonation. Grammariello was subsequently sent to Genesee County Jail in lieu of $750 bail.
• Welford C. Dempsy, 52, of Bethany, was charged with felony first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment Saturday night, Genesee County sheriff's deputies said. Deputies were told that Dempsy had violated an order of protection and slapped the victim in the head during an incident.
• Daniel J. Nixon, 28, of Kenmore, N.Y., was charged with driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning following a traffic stop on Oak Street in Batavia, city police said. Nixon was also ticketed with making an improper turn.
