Genesee County is replacing the bridge over the Tonawanda Creek at Pratt Road in Batavia. The $1.6 million project is 95 percent federally funded.

Closure announced for Pratt Road bridge replacement

Effective Monday, May 20, the Genesee County Highway Department will close Pratt Road, between Killian Road and Indian Falls Road for the Pratt Road bridge replacement.

Detour signs will be posted. The road will be closed through mid-October.

Custom Suzuki motor bike valued at $16K stolen from garage on Pratt Road

Sometime between 1 a.m. and 6 a.m., thieves made off with this custom Suzuki motorcycle valued at $16,000 from a garage at a residence on Pratt Road.

The perpetrators forced entry and pushed the bike to the road.

Two weeks ago, the bike was listed on Buffalo Craigslist.

Anybody with information about the theft or whereabouts of the bike can call Investigator Roger Stone at the Sheriff's Office, (585) 345-3000, ext. 3570.

Pratt Road bridge will be closed for a week for repairs

The Pratt Road bridge over the Tonawanda Creek will be closed for repairs starting tomorrow, according to County Highway Superintendent Tim Hens.

The closure is expected to last a week.

Two steel girders will be reinforced.

The repairs will enable the county to remove a load restriction placed on the bridge following inspections this summer.

The $10,000 expenditure comes from the 2010 Bridge Capital Improvement Project, which is funded with state highway aid.

Vacant house on fire on Pratt Road, Pembroke

A vacant house is reportedly on fire at 2881 Pratt Road.

East Pembroke Fire was initially dispatched.

Tankers from Batavia, Corfu and Oakfield requested to the scene.

UPDATE 9:18 p.m.: Fire police requested to shut down Pratt at Powers and Miller roads.

UPDATE 9:48 p.m.: Alabama tanker requested to the scene.

UPDATE 9:52 p.m.: Alabama tanker not available. Pembroke and Indian Falls tankers requested to the scene.
